Has anyone else noticed the Camera app on ICS for the SGS2 is really weird? For instance, I take a photo and it will show the photo in full colour but then when I click on the photo in the bottom left (portrait mode) the image is missing half its colour until I press the return key, the colour comes back but as expected the image shuts and goes back to the camera application. Then when I view the photo in the Gallery application, the image is in full colour. Any thoughts on this or is it only happening to me?

I think it happens just because the auto-mode in the screen bright settings, try it with full bright and you'll see is it keep happening.
I remember also there's an option to set max bright when you take a picture so that can be the reason too.

I think that's what he already has.
Put your phone in full brightness and not in auto brightness and you will be ok.

That's what "outdoor visibility" setting does automatically whilst using the camera. After you exit the camera, it returns back to autobrightness or whatever your setting is.
Try it

The problem is probably in your rom, change to hydrog3n
No you guys think too much.....
When you are on auto bright your picture also is dim when you watch in gallery, you need to be set Max bright.
That's what he (OP) was asking
Sent from my GT-I9100
oh yeah, it gives you a different screen brightness on your camera, it should be somewhere in your settings, if not just play with the screen brightness till they look the same
dude. it has yellow tint now, which is worse than blue tint, blu tint sharper, thus better!

Hi,in my SII,I take a photo and I must go back to take another...
In my friend's iPhone,he can take a several photos in time I take one.
How do I change it?
Thanks.
I don't have to go back, after taking a photo I can just take another one, so I don't quite get your problem....
When I take a photo, the next screen that shows up is the photo that I just take.
In iphone,I have the ability to take another photo because the photo that I just take are saved...

How did you manage that? I find it annoying how the picture disappears as soon as I take it. I've looked through all the camera settings but cant find how to leave the picture on the screen.
K if you turn review on you will see the pic you just took, review off let's you take multiple pics.

There is no such option in my phone's camera settings. I only have the following:
edit shortcuts,
self portrait,
flash shooting mode,
scene mode,
exposure value,
focus mode,
timer,
effects,
resolution,
white balance,
iso,
metering,
outdoor visibility,
anti shake,
auto contrast,
blink detection,
guidelines,
image quality,
gps tag,
save as flipped image (grayed out),
storage
and reset.
Is there another set of settings that I have missed?
could it be the Rom I'm using (Simple+&+Clean+v1.3)? however, I've used other Roms in the past and have never seen this option

between guidelines and image quality, I have a 'Review' option. Set the Review option to OFF.
Hi all,
So I was watching the latest Dexter episode on my phone during my commute to work, and I noticed that in low light scenes, there seemed to be an oversaturation of red. Pretty much Dexter looked like he had a really, really bad sun burn all throughout his body whenever there was a scene with low light. I checked out the video on my laptop, and during the low light scenes, the color of his skin was fine.
Now, I know that these displays are normally calibrated for such oversaturation to make the colors "pop" more, but this was pretty extreme -- his face was more red than pink/white. Is this a problem with just my phone or is it a known problem with displays calibrated for oversaturation? Also, is there a way i can tweak the phone so that it's not like this?
Thanks for you help in advance!

Ahha! That seems to have done the trick. Is there a way for my phone to automatically change it to "movie mode" when I am playing a video file? The auto adjust feature was on, but it never did adjust it when I was playing that movie file.....
Thanks again!
Guys,
I have only had my Z2 a few days so am still assessing the good and bad.
However, if I had to single out one bad item I have found it would be the White Balance on shots taken with the camera. These shots are clearly out when it comes to Reds and Blacks.
As an example if I take an evening shot of a lit street; although the lighting is Orange the colours from the lights bouncing down onto the road are Red.
The bricks on houses are way too saturated in Red, in fact most of the shot taken produces a Red element especially anything that is Grey in colour.
A similar situation is with Blacks; here I see Black turned into a bright Blue.
Now initially I was going to return the Z2 back to Phones4u but after altering the White Balance settings from the Settings/Display I managed to eliminate most of the incorrect colours.
Had everything been incorrect in colours and with that I mean all the screens from all other Apps and not just the cameras shots taken, in other words if the phone itself was producing incorrect Whites on all the screens I would have understood but all the other screens from all the Apps have a correct White setting, it's only the camera that is showing incorrect colours and I'm sure I should not have to alter the Settings/Display White Balance to set this correct. That to me is badly set up WB setting on my particular Z2.
Anyway, In order to ascertain the level of incorrect WB may I ask what settings are you using for your general White Balance in the Display Settings? If you have not altered the settings and you are happy with your shots as in nothing indicates the problems I have found then can you say you have not altered your White Balance.
As I have mentioned, I found the standard settings resulted in the shots taken having a strong red tint. So I applied a setting of the following to correct this:-
Red = 0
Green = 177
Blue = 177
These settings seemed to bring the colours back to normal…
I would appreciate your settings which ultimately will help decide whether or not to return my Z2.
Thank you.
Those settings are only for the screen, it doesn't have to do anything with the wb of the camera. Might look on display different / better but it doesn't effect the pictures themselves...

I'm happy that the shots taken will be okay on a different device say a PC/Mac or whatever but I most definitely notice a difference when viewing the shots in the Album App.
Try turning off the x-reality option in display options then check the images again in the album app, I had to turn it off due to it making some pics look strange, it basically makes the colours on images look to poppy like Samsung displays. A pic of my gf had blue halo around her face with x-reality on, with it off the pic looked normal.

Thanks but that was the first thing I did.....
Yes, it erased the saturation but didn't change the colours on screen.
Only by altering the WB could I get the shots on screen to look correct.
Is there any way to use only the second screen? I am not talking about muting the main screen by lowering the brightness through the dual screen tool, I mean just use the second screen.
Yes actually there is. It's kind of a workaround but I'm working on an app for it. Since it's an OLED display, pure black with no action on touch is essentially the same as screen off, though gestures will still work. I will post the APK here when I finish the app. In the meantime, download or create a png or jpg file that's just pure black, a black square essentially, of any resolution. Open it in your stock Gallery app on the main screen and click on it to make it go full screen. This doesn't disable touch but it will essentially turn off your primary screen even while actively using the second screen.

Sweet, sounds cool!
Use black screen app
Also rgb for selfie light
I use the Black Screen app as well. Especially useful when watching landscape video on second screen. Plus it's accessible as a toggle in quick settings.

I wanted to take picture of this software I use at work and to my surprise the red "button" is yellow on the picture from the ZF9. If the button is out of focus, the color of it is correct. I thought it could be something with the screen's filter making it look like that in all pictures, but my coworkers iphone took it correctly and back at home with an old S5 the colors are also correct.
More worrying is the fact that its the same with the GCam and every app with cam capture ability, so its just not a bug in the stock camera app.
Is it just my own ZF9? I will provide a screenshot of that software here, could someone use it to take picture of the "button" in their screen? This is a serious issue imo since the color is completely changed, its not just an inaccuracy.
This is not related to focus but white balance issue, in case there is a lot of black area white balance level starts to freak out.
Try to change white balance settings.
Or even not white balance - its auto EV correction issue. You can change it manually.
No wonder there is nothing like that for S5 if you are using flashlight.

Using the flash on the Z9 had the button yellow. I used the flash on the S5 because it was way out of focus without it (custom rom not stock)

I did try to change the exposure, but at the point where the red was actually the correct color, everything on the picture were very dark. I also tried to mess in the pro mode, changing the ISO and white balance but again to make the red actually look red and not yellow the picture was way too dark.
Imo the phone on auto should take the picture with the correct color. If the "darkness" from changing the exposure or ISO or WB is necessary (I am not a photographer) so be it. Still,I don't understand why it cant be bright, like the picture with the yellow button but with the correct colors.
