[Q] Need help restoring my SII to stock. - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm hoping someone can tell me the exact filenames of the rom and or kernel I need to restore my Galaxy S2 to stock rom for O2 UK.
I've tried various UK ones from this thread and flashed using Odin. But all that happens is a boot loop everytime. The recent one I tried was I9100XWKE1_I9100XXKDJ_I9100O2UKE1_HOME.tar
but as mentioned, all I get is a boot loop.
Can anyone assist?

It shouldn't matter which O2 rom you use. Only you're going to know exactly what firmware was on your phone when you bought it, but again, that's not important.
Frankly, if it were me, I'd get the latest stock firmware available for phone model/country/carrier with the PC version of Checkfus (search for it on here/Google) & do it that way. Just my 3 shekels worth.
But before you go down that path, have you tried a factory reset ? If you have & it didn't fix the bootloop, then the Checkfus route is worth considering. You get one file which you flash in PDA section of Odin & done.

Thanks for that. I tried the software and downloaded the exact rom to use for my country and network. I flashed it in Odin but again, it sticks at the boot logo. Not so much of a boot loop but just stays on the animated S logo.

O2 UK simple KDD was the first one posted in the branded provider roms thread .
But why not use your original saved firmware ??? or at least search for that one as non but you knows for sure what it was .
Clean Slate for those that balls up the firmware .Or need to return to service or decide if its hardware/firmware problem .
Backup data first if phone is working .
Boot CWM recovery
Mounts and Storage
Format cache data system sd card .
Remove battery
Boot to download mode
Open Odin
Install correct stock firmware .
Still problems use usb jig to set rom counter to zero .
Return to service centre .

I'm stunned.
All these roms I tried and the whole issue was not wiping cache etc. Now I've done it, seems to be working. Finger crossed. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Nothing is wrong with your rom, what you do now is put it in download mode, flash cf-root, go into cwm, wipe factory, cache, and dalvik cache, then turn on device leave it for at least 12 mins (sometimes it just boot loops for awhile and works, it happened to me before, after it happens once it wont happen ever again), for more info read my signature, cf-root is labeled chainfire

have you gone to recovery and wiped data?
or find a firmware which wipes the data off the phone, i think the KL1 firmware does this.
buddy i cant get into clock work or any other sort of recovery as my home button does not work
can you link me to the correct firmware
would be appreciated xmas good will
you can find the original kernels and firmwares here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
search and subscriptions are a handy thing to have. Merry x-mas, hope you get to unbrick your phone!
cheers guy ive been to that site you have linked but still no avail when flashing the stock orange uk ones for my phone will take your advice nex and look for a kl1 to wipe the date
it really doesnt matter which one you flash, just flash the one which wipes your device completely and then flash back to the firmware of your manufacturer.
do you know any of the top of your head which flash them phone whole???
Please read the whole guide that is in the link and then use one of the firmwares that include "This firmware will wipe your device!" warning... for example DXKG3.
heres the firmware and files im using
if you're from UK use this KI3 Wipe firmware http://www.multiupload.com/NJV6PR87Y3
it should do a wipe therefore making you're phone bootable. go back into download mode and install speedmod kernel, which would also root your phone automatically. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182498 ( flash speedmod-kernel-s2-k2-18-Odin.tar in odin).
use something like ROM manager to get into recovery mode and install VillanROM http://www.villainrom.co.uk/SGS2/VR3.0beta.php and a kernel of your choice and away you go

Returning to Stock

Hey, Sorry if this has been discussed (I've found other threads but none that have through information)
Anyways, I've got a small hairline crack in my screen so I'm going to use my warranty to swap it. I need to return to stock bell firmware. I've flashed a bell firmware (with odin) and it got rid of my clockwork recovery, now comes the issue. In download mode it still reads odin mode at the top, and kies is unable to read the device anymore.
Is there way I can return to complete stock so that
- Kies can read my phone completely like it used to
- Download mode doesnt say odin at the top
- Flash count gets reset
- Complete bell stock firmware.
Thank you all!
buy a usb jig

agree with post above. cheap (< $3). easy (< 5 minutes).
A jig is your best bet. Not a quick fix but the only fix.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Sounds good, thanks. Might try without doing the jig first. if they dont let me then i'll jit it. Sort of in a hurry Screen is turning purple and the touch screen is sort of touch and go now...!!! thanks!

weird middle-way brick, can't flash certain components

hi i don't normally post but i've exhausted most the options I am able to attempt for this, which include heimdall one click or flashing stock stuff or what not.
I was attempting to upgrade to cm9 where the the instruction asked for flashing a ics bootloader of sorts. then i flashed the update following that but for some reason it failed. from there i had attempted to flash alot of things here and there and probably got really messy i guess. but i didn't touch the .Pit thing or any other weird file.
right now as its current state, flashing most things other than kernel will lead to NAND write fail, or some form of failure, recovery mode is down, and of course bootloop. surprisingly download mode is still up and and so is the jig mode.
so how bad is it really?
any sincere and constructive help at any level is highly appreciated.
Not really that bad, just reflash another firmware through Odin and try again, hope this helps
I would .

well i really am left with the service centre, which will pretty much void my warranty. oh well. i guess thats that.
a note. i had tried flashing all the stock components together as provided in another unbrick guide and it work, but when i tried to root again, it screwed up. AND THE SAME PACKAGE COULDNT WORK ANYMORE. its as if my phone remembers what worked and was deliberate about it. very curious thing to happen
can you go back to stock and reroot if you can try and get cwm on their and reformat through mounts and storage

I9100P bootloop & freeze !

Hello,
My S2 encounter big problems , ie it constantly freeze and reboot , sometimes it gets stuck on the samsung logo.
For the early history I was CM 10 and overnight I had the symptom of reboot, I decided to return to stock "clean" rom, so i flash :
1 ) KI3 rom ( rom wipe)
2 ) KK5
3) LPG
In addition I bought a new battery thinking about a hardware problem. I stayed on LPG a few weeks without too much trouble and this is the drama for a few days, returning reboot and freeze , unable to use the phone. ..
So, I came back to KI3 original but i have a lot of screen freeze and reboot. I tried to do a wipe data + cache with the samsung recovery but it does not change anything...
Someone can help me to save my S2 ?
thank you very much !

Thanks coach83, i just try with I9100XWLS8 one package ROM, flash with ODIN is ok but the Galaxy S2
freezing on the boot at first configuration with Android logo.
Some have an idea ? I have read a lot of xda topics to reset phone but nothing seems to be working
Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread. Find it. Try the stuff in that thread & you should end up with a successful flash (doesn't matter that it was essentially written for the I9100 - the I9100P is the same difference + NFC).
Thanks MistahBungle but flash with ODIN works for me, i have the green message "pass" so i don't think Hopper8 will solve my problem...
Your phone is bootlooping after the flash, which means it hasn't been successful regardless of whether Odin shows pass or not. Find his thread, read it, try the stuff in it. In particular try flashing a 3 part firmware which will wipe the phone, this will likely remove any remnants of whatever you had on the phone previously which is probably causing the bootloop after you flash.
This might also be one of those cases where perseverance fixes things; sometimes you can try 10 flashes which all seem to pass, yet the phone won't boot normally - you try the 11th (as an example) & for whatever reason it works. Try a 3 part firmware, then everything else in his thread until it works. There are no magic fixes here.
Ok i will try. When you say "try flashing a 3 part firmware" did you mean with pda, phone and csc file ? Because i have try this too with KI3 rom...
Yes, that's what I meant. Try it again then with a different stock rom, and as many others as you need to. There's only one way to fix it, and experience on here over the past two years shows persistence is the key. Unless you'd rather take it to a service centre & explain how the phone got into the state it's currently in & pay them to fix it ?
Nop
Ok so new USB cable, new USB port, new stock ROM and flash again and again is my program for today
Edit : According to you, do i try with pit file or not ?

[Q] Boot Loop After Stock Odin Flash - Tried Everything?

I attempted to flash a different stock firmware (BTU XXEMG4) via Odin on my completely stock I9300 s3 running Vodafone Germany XXELLA 4.1.2. Odin said it passed, but it booted straight into a boot loop.
When I got it (supposedly new), it was running stock Vodafone Germany firmware, but, in recovery, it said the CSC code was EUR, which I read was Greece. Otherwise, I have no idea about the origins of the phone. I've had it for almost two and a half years.
My goal with flashing was to remedy my frequent freezes caused by the SDS fix. I'd read that XXEMB5 handled it the best, and since XXEMG4 was even newer, I went with that. I was then planning on trying the dummy file generator to deal with any remaining freezes. I also wanted plain BTU software, free of useless Vodafone apps (I'm in the U.S. on Tmobile). I was planning to root after I was done with this project.
I CAN boot into both recovery and download mode, so I've tried the following:
-Wiping cache in recovery
-Factory reset in recovery
-Reflashing the firmware and other firmwares with Odin (BTU XXEMB5, Vodafone Germany XXEMRH, etc.) (It said passed every time, but still in a boot loop)
-Firmware upgrade and initialization through Kies (It prepared the upgrade, but never started it and then Kies stopped responding) (tried it while the phone was in both download and recovery mode)
-Pulling the battery and sim out for a while
There are no errors in recovery mode. I read a bit about efs partitions and how if it was wiped, your phone might not turn on. But, everyone seemed to get an error in recovery mode when that happened, so, I don't think that's the problem.
I'm scared the answer might be to take it in for service because I don't think there's anywhere local to bring it in, and I would rather not send to Samsung. It never had a warranty in the first place, so I would be paying for the service, which I don't mind. But, I'm scared they might just send me a refurbished one instead of actually repairing mine. I'm quite attached to this phone, I don't want a different one.
Try the rescue firmware and pit file, search general forum for the thread.
Flash both together at the same time then factory reset in recovery before first boot.
It sounds like your phone has advanced nand memory wear, so don't expect too much.
Thanks for your reply! Is this the rescue firmware and pit file you are referring to?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30087735&postcount=6
So I flashed this rescue firmware and pit file http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...35&postcount=6 (the xxemg4 KOR one) and still the same result - Odin says passed, but still boot loop. Is it really just a service center for my phone now?
If a factory reset doesn't cure then there isn't much else to try, an AOSP based custom rom might be worth a go as they use the hardware differently.
