I can't flash my rooted Droid RAZR because the phone goes on and off... I am trying to flash it before I send it over to Verizon... I don't know how to fix it! The phone's power button is slightly jammed or broken... I am not too sure. It just doesn't work... I don't know what to do... Fastboot isn't consistent some reason.... Any advice???

I do that but it doesn't go immediately to the next part after selecting Ap Fastboot. Then once I get it there, I try to use RSDlite and flash it, but then the phone will turn itself off or it some reason just blacks out for a while, then comes back on. When that happens, sometimes it goes a little further in the flashing, but usually stops. There's 18 steps and I usually get stuck at the 2nd step, sometimes at 5th, and 12th. Because it has tried to flash and stopped at those random steps, I can't turn the phone on anymore. Can only access the black and white menu...
I'm not sure, but i think that's because you don't have enough battery to flash it.

You can turn off the phone by pressing simultaneously
power and volume down (-) buttons about 5 secs.
Then yuo can think about what i can to do next ;-)

My phone is in boot loop right now and when I hit power and vol down, my phone with continually vibrate for about 5 seconds and then the screen goes out... but then it just boots up again
You can try push volume down button (and keep it pressed down)
at the same moment that screen goes out, maybe you can reach
AP Fastboot-mode in this way?
Well I can get to the menu for AP Fastboot
But im at work.. i dont have the file or RSDLight here at work.
But I can get to the recovery and it gives me the option for "factory reset" or "apply update from SDcard".
If I have a backup from bootstrap, can I use that file under the "apply update from SDcard" option?
EDIT: No you cant apply from SD (a recovery)
I think that yuo can't use backup from bootstrap via Motorolas recovery...
Maybe only way is install correct OFFICIAL Motorola ROM via AP fastboot.
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/
Here is also good RSD alternative for flashing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21575589&postcount=1
you close but it goes against what he just said. Once ur device powers.of press the volume keys then hold the power button ...it'll put u in recovery. You then need to scroll down twice I think to fast boot and press the up key to select....
You can only go down in this recovery. When you press up it selects. You will then need to follow a.vid on YouTube called how to restore Droid RAZR

Im trying to root my Atrix running 2.3.6 with the latest firmware. Whenever i attempt to fastboot the only thing that shows up is "starting rsd protocol support". No matter how long i hold the buttons this is the only thing that shows. Can someone help me? Is that the same as fastbooting or am I doing something wrong?

The instructions are a bit unclear. You have to hold down Vol-, then hit power, and then CONTINUE HOLDING Vol- until you see a menu. Then use Vol- to find Fastboot and Vol+ to confirm.
Not sure if this is the proper section for this but thought I would post this here as I'm sure it would highly assist people in development and other tasks. This is the button combinations you need to enter each mode.
ODIN/Download Mode
Make sure your device is completely off
Key(s): Volume Down
While holding this key down simultaneously press the Power button until you see a disclaimer on the screen
Then let go of both buttons and press Volume Up to accept the disclaimer
Once the green robot is visible on the screen this indicates that handset is in now ODIN/Download mode
Recovery Mode
Make sure your device is completely off
Key(s): Volume Up
While holding this key down simultaneously press the Power button
As soon as the phone vibrates, let go of the Power button but keep holding Volume Up
When you see the "Samsung Galaxy S4" logo (not just the word "Samsung"), right after that, the next screen you should see is your recovery
Don't let go of Volume Up until you see your recovery
It's not necessary to hold the Home button to boot into Odin mode, the combination for recovery is correct though.
So just power/volume down for Odin and home/volume up/power for recovery

No download mode
I've been trying to get into download mode for days and can't seem to figure it out. I have the Verizon g s4 sch-i545. I've done all of the key combos and even tried some combos + plugging in the USB cable. Nothing is working for me. Any help would be nice. Thanks

Home isn't necessary for recovery either. I just hold power and volume up, when the phone vibrates I let go of power and continue to hold volume up until I see the booting recovery message in the upper left.
So nothing? Nobody can offer some advice?
Moto not working
So I'm having no success with this. I went through all the steps including flashing the pre-release tar ball (MD2). All this went without fail, however once I launched Motochop and pressed enter to root. I get line Daemon not on. run port 5873. Daemon connected or on and then thats it. I don't get a notification at any point prior to me pressing enter or afterwords that I need to accept. It just stops and I get "you should reboot" from the notification bar. Have I done something wrong? I went through all the prior steps several times and I keep getting this error message.

Don't just push them. You need to hold both until you feel the phone vibrate. Then you can let go of the power button, but keep holding volume down until download mode starts.

alrigth i got it to work. is there any way to move cwm backups to the sd card?
Odin Error
I am having one heck of a time flashing to the GS4 with Odin. I follow all of the steps to a "t" but cannot get the custom kernal onto the device. I'm having no problem getting to download mode and all the setting look to be correct, however when I start the Odin process I end up with a "fail" every time. I have been looking around the web for a few days for an answer, but so far this looks like the best thread to get help.
Make sure the kernel you are trying to flash is compatible with the Odin method. A lot of kernels can be flashed via custom recovery. The first thing I would do is uninstall and then reinstall the Samsung drivers. Make sure you have the latest and it is compatible with your computer OS. You would be surprised how often drivers can screw up Odin.

I got a XT912 with a screen that stays black(don't know why, it looks fine). What i am trying to do, is to get into the fastboot mode without seeing anything so i can flash a stock rom via pc. Whatever combinations i try i only get it to reboot(it keeps saying "droooiiiidd"). I googled alot and i can't find a solution for this.
The reason why i want to flash a new rom is because i want to try if i can fix this screen issue and because the screen is locked and i can't get past that and use the phone(via otg and hdmi out).
How do i shut the phone down only using the keys(without restarting) and how do i start from a powered down mode into fastboot(step by step guide would be helpful).
Ensure phone is completely powered off (also, fully charged). Vol down + Power (vol down first). Release power button after 3-5 seconds, and then release vol down. You are now in fastboot. Connect usb, and your computer should identify the phone.

What about selecting fastboot first? Isn't there some kind of menu i get into after doing that(at least i know there should be one)? Where i have to scroll down and select fastboot.
Holding vol up and vol down will bring you to the boot menu. Vol down is directly to fastboot mode.

Can i somehow shut it down with the keys? I don't know why, but whatever i try it keeps rebooting only.
Press and hold both vol buttons and the power button for six to ten seconds. Then release all three. That is a manual reboot. A working screen will briefly flash. If you try to boot to the main boot menu, with vol +/-, and power, AP Fastboot is the third option. Press vol down twice to highlight ap fastboot, vol up once to select it. This also takes you to AP Fastboot mode, as opposed to the vol down and power, which is direct.

Thats what i tried just now, i pressed vol+/- and power to reboot. Soon after i pressed again vol+/- and power and waited for like 10 sec, then i pressed vol - 3 times and then vol + and all he did was reboot again damn. Is my timing wrong? 3 times down is wrong i guess if i start from position 1. Just as a reminder i can't see anything.
Volume down twice to highlight AP fastboot, up once to select. Also, you want the phone to be completely off to boot into fastboot mode. There is no way to REboot into the boot menu

What i did now is open the back, disconnect the battery and connect it again, use vol down button + power button for ten sec and then plug it into the computer. Nothing happens, atleast not on the computer, the phone shows a white light in the top left corner. It stays on even if i disconnect the cable.
Holding for that long can cause a reboot. Try holding the vol down and power for like... three seconds, after reconnecting the battery. Also, are you using an OEM motorola cable? And, have you ever used RSDlite? Have you prepared for flashing with the appropriate fastboot sbf files? Once the computer recognizes the phone, you'll want to have the motorola drivers installed, RSDlite ready, and the right sbf file ready.\
EDIT
Even if you do access the fastboot menu, if the phone believes the battery is too low, it will not allow the pc and phone to connect. The screen should say:
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)
0A.77
eMMC Info: Size 16G
To return to normal mode- first press power key to power down
Device is LOCKED. Status code: 0
Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable
I realize that your screen isn't displaying anything, but this menu is what will restrict you from flashing if the battery is low. Instead of Battery OK, it will say Low Battery

I know how to use rsdlite, because i flashed my xt910 with it. The battery could be a problem. I have it fully charged and will try it again now, but if that doesn't work i propably need a factory cable. I think i made it into the fastboot mode in previous tries but got stuck because of the battery status.
Edit: Reconnecting the battery and getting into fastboot mode seems to work, but connecting the cable gives me the white light and nothing else works.
So your computer is still not recognizing the phone, even when it seems to be in fastboot?

Yep, no reaction from the os and nothing listed in adb devices or fastboot devices.
Assuming the battery power is adequate, the next and only solution is the proper data cable (OEM).
If the battery is low, you'll need to either use a TBH factory data cable, or the workaround of hard wiring a stripped usb cable screwed to the battery terminals on the phone. Once the phone identifies a good power source, it will allow a pc connection.
Sent from my XT912
EDIT
BP SBF Flash is the fourth option down, out of seven total, I believe. If you can boot to the main boot menu, and click vol down 3 times, you'll select this option. As I recall, I was able to confirm my phone, usb cable, and pc were all communicating. My *pc identified an unknown device being connected, even with a nearly dead battery. Then I knew I just needed a power supply. I'm not sure what this option is for, but it told me what I needed to know.

Ok i will try that until i get one of these cables or adapters.
Is it possible to use adb via recovery or do i need a custom recovery for that? I am not sure if i need to unlock the bootloader via motorola( have to use fastboot for unlock), that would as far as i know reset the stock rom(if i need a custom rom).
I cannot turn on device, enter recovery, enter download mode (volume down + power), and phone does not vibrate or have any sign of power. Phone was about 60% when I attempted to flash something and it powered down and bricked my phone..

What build were you on? What were you trying to flash, and using what tool?
You can usually recover from interrupted flash attempts by rebooting into the downloader.
You're missing part of the downloader boot. Starting from powered down (best to pull battery), hold down home and volume down. Then hold power. When the phone vibrates, release power but continue to hold volume down and home.
Hopefully you can get into download mode and be able to recover.
