[Q] Gt-i9100t - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can someone please tell me what the difference is between gt-i9100 and the gt-i9100t?
Would a custom gt-i9100 rom still provide full gt-i9100t features?
Thank you

I9100t is optimized for 850mhz network you can flash any rom but you may have to flash your modem back on it afterwards but dont flash a i9100g rom on it.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium

Different SAR values , which means different radio output, which as 7tOny4 said means works better with 850mhz network.
I9100t's tend to get better connectivity/data speeds with modems specifically for the I9100 T (but not always), dependent on location & network.
Yes I9100 roms provide 'full features', as there are no I9100T specific roms given the slight difference as per the above. If you find you're getting good connectivity/data speeds with the modem you're using now across all locations you use the phone/all times of the day (using it at one location at one time of day is nowhere near a proper test), no need to change the modem even if it is an I9100 modem.
If you do ever have problems with connectivity or data, you need to keep trying modems till you find one that works. A Google search with XDA appended to your search terms will yield you plenty of posts on here that link to both I9100T/I9100 modems.

THE DIFFERENCE IS ALMOST NOTHING, EXCEPT THAT THE I9100T WAS MADE FOR SPECIAL COMPANIES, LIKE VODAFONE, IF YOU WANT TO FLASH IT YOU CAN USE ANY I9100 ROM EVEN STOCK I9100 ROM, THEN WHEN YOU TURN IT ON IT WILL READ I9100 ON THE BOOT LOGO, SO THERE WONT BE ANY DIFFERENCES AT ALL, BUT YOU MUST DO A FULL WIPE, AND BACK UP YOUR EFS FOLDER BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING, HERES THE GUIDE, I MADE IT MYSELF, PLEASE AS I HELPED YOU, HELP ME AND PRESS THE THANK BUTTON

He didn't ask about flashing, so go flog your 'guide' (i use the term loosely) somewhere else.
P.S - stop using all caps. Makes you look like an idiot.

Cool, thanks guys. I was thinking that would be all it was. Was asking cos I got a vodafone sum but bought a Telecom SGS2 as the gt-i9100t was $100 cheaper than the gt-i9100. Don't like the Telecom splash / boot screen

Yes.

Do i need to flash anything else other than stock rom?

No not really so far as I know search on Google Odin stock flash tutorial.
If you don't trust it flashing with Odin then you can extract the firmware and make an update zip with dsxida kitchen and flash it with recovery.

GT-19100 Roms on our phone

GT-19100 Roms on our phones? is it possible?
I just braved it out and flashed a GT-19100 ICS rom on it and everything works - I ofcourse flashed a ATT radio but wifi, BT works so far.
Data/Voice mms/sms works.
so I'm guessing its possible?
Thanks,
You can Hellraise i9100 Roms, tons of info about it in the development threads. Not sure how much luck others have had hellraising ics though, it usually comes with problems.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
You CAN'T hellraise any ICS roms. Search a little bit and you'll find plenty of threads about it.
Like previous poster said Hellraising I9100(GB) is done very easily(look in dev section for hellraiser package).
Op: Are you saying voice(making/receiving calls) works? You sure? I'm pretty sure voice calls WILL NOT work.

I called myself from work and heardmyself and called from my cell and it worked. I didnt hellraise anything, flashed a rom and directly after the rom i flashed an ATT modem
first boot took a little bit - the only problem i have is that the *back and search* captive buttons do not work.
Now might not be the best time to be brave. I9100 ics ROM won't work for I777 phones because we don't have the kernel source yet. try making a call and you'll know what I mean. Also getting back to stock might be a bi#@h now because most of the file sharing sites are down thanks to the FEDs.

I simply flashed a .zip from their forums. I didnt do a firmware update or anything like
Exactly which zip did you flash?
While the button issues are most likely unsolvable without kernel source, working call audio is a MAJOR (and completely unexpected) development.

Which ATT Modem did you use? If Everything works using the I9100 Kernel (XXKP8) and just flashing the Modem makes it usable then you might have just discovered something here.

Problem with hydroxygen mod v1

Hey
Flashed this any everything works apart from my phone cant find any network nor data signal. Tried flashing different kernals and modems but nothing works. Some people have had the same problem but no luck either.
Does anyone have any idea's how to fix this?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

No voice NOR data signal? Sounds like the modems that came with the ROM you flashed aren't compatible with your network. Try the modem thread.
So if i found a t mobile modem for example then flashed that, it should work?

Shipped modem thread.
Doesn't seem to be anything that specifies which are used by T-Mobile of any particular country though. You could ask around and see if any T-Mobile users in your country can tell you what modems they are using in their phone.
I don't find a "hydroxygen mod v1" ROM when I search. Are you referring to "HydrOG3NMOD V1.2"? If so, it may be better for you to post in that thread asking if any other users of that ROM are experiencing the same issue. Maybe some additional steps are necessary.
But if you don't get help there, I'd suggest you reflash a stock ROM first (from Intratech's official stock firmware thread) and make sure you get voice/data signal. Then reflash whatever ROM you're looking at, but remove "modem.bin" from the package before flashing so you retain the modems that work.
Thanks alot man really helped and sorry my bad. Meant the one you posted the link too

[Q] ICS for GT-I9100T

Hi,
Does anyone know of an ICS ROM for the Galaxy S2 GT-I9100T model?
You can use any rom for the I9100. Makes no difference.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I already installed an ICS ROM intended for the regular model, and it is very very buggy. The internet connection is very bad.
I did some research on the Web and what I understand it's a problem with the modem. The modem for the T model is different.
I'm in Israel on the Pelephone network.

As 7tOny4 says, the T thing is about the modem, nothing to do with NFC.
No NFC in Israel anyway.
Thanks anyway.
I have a GT-I9100T and have been using various ICS roms, including the CM9 nightlies, for the past month or so. At the moment, I'm running Resurrection Remix.
The modems included in the latest roms have all worked fine for me, so all I've had to do is re-add the appropriate APNs If for some reason it doesn't work with the included modem, just flash a modem file from your carrier or another local carrier that uses similar frequencies.
There's a collection of modem files from different carriers globally on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131950
With the official release of ICS today, I expect that we'll be seeing updates to all of the main one-off roms within the next few days, including updated kernels and modems.
I have a gs2 i9100T and running remix ICS 9.6. It is fast, smooth and stable.

[Q] Difference in Stock ROMS

Hi,
I live in the UK but I was wondering about all of the different stock roms for the one phone are all about. For example on O2 there are a lot of roms all running 4.0.4 but I cannot see the difference between them.
I also want to know what are BTU roms?
I am hoping someone will be able to explain to me what they are all about.... I apologise if this is a dumb question!
Thank you in advance
Steven Chorkley
There are a lot of roms for the s3 and all come with different features but most used to customise and make the phone faster and for better looking ui.i tend to flash new rom after i buy the phone because i have experience but its very easy with samsung phones just install one app flash the root file then choose a rom to flash (im using omega) if u dont want a new rom and just want a stock phone with more features you can try flashing kernels the same way, it will enable you to overclock or even underclock for battery life.you also get updates faster 4.1 isnt even out in the uk and some have 4.1.2
Hope i helped,hit thanks

Different ROMs have different CSC and some are carrier branded. BTU in particular is unbranded. Each carrier has its own ROM. Apart from these, they should all be the same.

Should I (can I) update my modem?

My understanding is that on the I777 the modem and the kernel are combined in one partition. Although I've installed several different roms so presumably different kernels, my modem has stayed the same: I777UCKH7
Is there an advantage to trying different modems? How would I do it?

I'm confused about why you'd pick one over the other. Are you looking for newer/faster? The best one for where you live? The one that runs best with your Rom? I had a lot of problems after I tried to flash the ucmd8 - May have been coincidental but either way the modem didn't work.

Can someone direct me to information about modems? The development thread referenced above lists a number of modems, but doesn't tell anything about them. Is one better than another? Is the latest one always the best one? The development thread used to have a map, but it has been removed. Are some modems better in some areas than others? I am trying to find the one in my area (central California) that has be best reception in a limited coverage area.
I am running the latest version of AOKP dated 6/24/13 and the baseband version (modem?) is i777UCKH7.

You answered your own question right there - flash them all and give each one about a day to see how your reception is. The map you're talking about was removed ages ago because it became corrupted.
In the end no one can tell you which one is better for you; just because it's the latest modem doesn't mean anything at all, in terms of reception/quality.

Thanks. It sounds like there is no reason to start playing around with modems unless you are actually having reception issues and then it's totally trial and error. My modem (UCKH7) seems ok here (southern CA) so if it ain't broke...
