ZR3D 2.2A OR 2.4B? (poll) - HTC EVO 3D

Just wondering which version of ZR3D you guys use.

2.4 is much smoother, although battery life is a problem...

is the battery life better on 2.2 then?

Me too I'm on 2.4 right now

I hate to rain on the parade and say neither since I love the beauty of this ROM, but the hiss caused by Beats is still in this ROM. It is something that I personally cannot stand, but once that is fixed, I'll probably try 2.4.

2.4 is the way to go, just run juice defender with it, and I have no hiss on my beats it is crystal clear, with anthrax kernel

I know, but the hiss remains with it off, even on non-Beats apps like Pandora. It has something to do with the default gains being set too high (according to MikeyXDA of MeanROM). Over the last week or so, some of the ROMs have fixed it and I look forward to it being fixed in this one too as I think this ROM is spectacular except for that.

Interesting. Even with quiet music, you still do not hear the hiss? With my phone, when I hit pause, the hiss remains for about two seconds until the phone stops powering the headphones. During a quiet song, there is a discernable hiss the entire time. It makes even loud music sound muddy to me.

i was getting that on 2.3, but once i went to 2.4, it was gone, idk if it was just a fluke because i dirty flashed 2.4 over 2.3? Or just a lucky turn of events either way 2.4 with anthrax rls 8 is 3evo gold, i dont want any more updates i am running this until the one x drops.

I ran 2.4 (and 2.2A) after a Chad's superwipe since I was coming off MeanROM. I ran it with whatever kernel came with 2.4 (I believe stock). I'm going to try again but use the latest Anthrax and see if that helps.

Apparently, the beats hiss will be fixed on the next revision of the ROM (which may be out tomorrow).

What is your rom/kernel/ whatever combo?

I found that eternity is the smoothest rom i've tried with beats. Im just now testing out the magical unicorn kernel with it and all seems well so far. Even though this is a great rom i still have some complaints with the 3d in general such as the volume output is still crappy. What do you guys have on your phones and how is that working out?
CM7 with stock kernel. No beats necessary, it has DSP manager (which is much better anyways).
Volume + with cm7 is odd.it distorts my bass. I manually set it though.
I use empires cm7/ics rom with stock kernel.

Kernel : Magical Unicorn 2.0
ROM: Android Revolution HD™ 1.1.0
The experience has been golden. Both operate with user requests in mind & in a timely fashion which really makes the experience satisfying. Not to mention it's surprisingly stable.
No errors, reboots or FCs.
To be honest, I haven't had this issue with the 3D ever but I thought I should note that.

[Q] Beats w/ viper rom nothing after flash .

Installed viperrom rc5 -2 two days ago. I noticed it no longer had beats audio. I flashed the new beats audio 2.17 and it does nothing . No beats symbol when i plug in headphones. Under apps I see HTC beats notifier. But it doesn't seem to be turning on. I followed the directions and cleared data for music and music enhancements. Is there anybody that can help ?
job well done
---------- Post added at 11:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:50 PM ----------
you're the man
As far as I know viperrom was never designed with beats. If a ROM doesn't have the probed coding written into it for beats then it isn't going to work. If you want you want beats audio I suggest flashing a.ROM with beats already in it like infectedrom.
I had viperrom 2.1 redline before this and it had beats Audio. Anyway i'm tired of flashing today. If i can't figure this out i guess ill just live with it. What is Job Well Done Anyway ??? did I do something wrong.

how long has it been since that has been updated? not being a smartass at all, i am just curious.
it would be a good idea for you to just flash a ROM with beats. there is a lot that goes into beats audio at the ROM level, let alone what goes on inside the kernel... audio drivers, codecs, libs... **** man, you just can't flash something like that and expect it to work with some random ROM you flashed, doesn't work that way 80% of the time.
back to square one for you if you want beats.
and i would suggest eternity RLS245 as of last night.

I agree with Cobraboy. The issue is that the kernel you use also has to support Beats. So, since ViperROM uses stock kernel, you would also need something like the Anthrax kernel as well.
I don't personally see why Beats is so great. Every time I try to use Beats, my headphones give a hiss sound that cancels all the benefits of Beats. With a little tuning of DSP Manager that comes with ViperROM, you can get a Beats like experience without the hiss or the hassle of switching kernels.

Which ROM has best sound quality?

I'm a bit of an audiophile and wondering about your music quality experiences with various ROMS.
I'm on pkmn right now and finding the audio output lacking compared to BAMF ICS. Might switch back..

Agreed. I had to reboot a couple times a day running that kernel (no matter what governor setting I used), with inkredikernel it runs weeks at a time without a reboot.
Well it runs fine on my phone and the add beats drivers are nice.
Note:just thought about it and I've never had a reboot with any kernel including incredikernel.

I've used the Anthrax Kernel with a few different Roms and it would cause Random Freeze ups (battery pull needed) and boot loops. The Max cpu setting is not reliable and it will ramp way up and cause boot loops or freezing.
I dont wanna go back to GB guys. Im finding the sound quality much greater and consistant volumes with Ineffabillis deus ICS compared to all other ICS ROMS i tried. I dont know the technical part of why this would be, but i am very picky about my music and it is much better.

Best JB CM10 ROM?

Whats the best CM10 JB ROM for the Rezound that is stable, fast and smooth and has very good batter life? Also, what would be a good Kernel to go with that ROM? Right now I'm on a CM9 ROM
Sent from my Rezound using xda app-developers app
They're all roughly equal in most areas. The instability with AOKP is gone in JB, so it's more about what you want out of the ROM. PAC has the most options, vanilla CM10 has the least (though still more than CM9), and AOKP is in the middle. Neo also has his customized versions of CM9 and AOKP if you like his stuff.
Stability wise, JB is overall a tick behind ICS AOSP, but not much (not enough to worry about in my book). I recommend pmem over ION if you are faced with the choice, and if you want to get the smoothest performance, check out one of the custom kernels (I hear Ermahgerd is good ).
I can vouch for Neo's AOSP jb Rom as far as speed and smoothness. Very few bugs at least for me (never use bluetooth) and I personally like snuzzos funky kernel (haven't tried the newer kernels like ermergerd or the oc kernel I have seen in the development section) but I don't think you can go wrong with any of the jb builds out there now because even a completely clean cm10 build without Linaro is pretty quick and definitely a very usable dd.

I tried out your latest release of CM10 & im not sure if its just me but for some odd reason the only thing that's really getting under my skin is that I can hear my own echo during calls. Also, I wanted to point out that there are times when I have no signal for a good couple of minutes or so. Everything else is dandy from there on.
Thanks

There's no noise cancelling in our AOSP device code, so what come in the mic goes out of the earpiece. I don't hear it as a echo though. Someone had to point it out to me for me to even notice it, because to me, it sounds just like an old analog landline.

Also the signal issue you are talking about is an issue with all AOSP ROMs. Enable airplane mode, wait a few seconds, and disable airplane mode and then your service should come back.
