Which ROM has the best battery life

I'm using Seraphim and I'm happy with the battery life. It seems to be worse than the GB ROM but I can get about 2% down every hour when the phone is idle.
I am thinking of trying different ROMs and battery life is very important to me. Which ROM will give the phone a better battery life based on your experience?
Thanks.

ah ok, im in search of a good ics battery friendly rom as well, actually downloading dag's ics "hybrid" rt now. i'll give it a go for the next couple days and post back. i was seeing about the same as you for seraphim.
In my experience, unless there's a bug, a ROM has little effect on battery life. Android is going to use a certain amount of power to run itself, and there is little that a dev can cook into a ROM to change this. Beyond the system, battery usage is from the screen, apps, and radios. If you are in an area with poor reception, and have lots of apps and widgets that frequently update in the background, this will decrease battery life.
I've used both DaGr8's Alpha II and Seraphim, and my battery drains less than 1% per hour when idling.
Guys a Search would have told you that Battery life is 99% on the user and has almost nothing to do with the rom. We could be running the exact same rom and get very different battery lifes due to the apps we use and how we have the device set up.
In the end there is not best rom. Only what works best for you.

What to choose android 2.3.6 or 4.0.4?

I have tried the litening rom and omega ( 4.0.3 ) and got many bugs together with battery drain. On the litening it was huge batery drain on the Omega i got the poor signal connection ( change the modems doesnt help ). Now i think to go back to the CheckROM 2.3.6. Will it be better on battery drain and speed?
I think you should give more ICS roms a shot, such as Hydra's ICS rom, Wanamlite ICS (if you prefer the stock rom feel, its stable and smooth).
I would say the ICS rom experience has certainly been better than the GB ones.
Battery drain is most likely caused by rogue apps, you should check whether its your apps that are draining the battery or the rom itself. Otherwise, everyone else would be experiencing it if they used the roms.
I'm using "Thebyani" and find its just as fast and the same on battery as any GB ROM I tried. However, I do like some of the niceties of ICS!
I usually stay on CM9. However I love the Sammy ICS but there is one problem that always occurs...Whether it would be in one hour of installing the rom or 2 weeks. Now here is the problem. It will suddenly stay at 1200mhz for like 5 minutes and really drain the battery and then go back to normal. I don't really like this and I don't know how to fix it. I've already tried every ICS rom that is based on Sammy but still nothing works. Otherwise in my opinion the Sammy rom is a lot more smooth and powerful than the CM9.
I am tempted to try the MIUI roms

maybe you could try flashing speedmod kernel? seems to me its a kernel problem
This turns to be personal opinion. Try other roms out and make that decision yourself. Locked.

1. notification LED bug (and for some people LED notifying is pretty important feature)
2. battery drain, as reported by some people
3. laggy UI, as reported by some people
4. not all games work on ICS (although the situation's getting better and better I guess)

hi, so thats reasons what you wrote are not true! i have ICS on my LWW and tha UI isnt lagy, battery drain is the same (if not better) and LED is working... for me is too important so im watching this and its working until now. maybe you should try it, and if you have any problems, you still can restore backup of GB
that's why I added "as reported by some people". the LED bug shows up for MP, that's for sure. and people post different feedback regarding battery life - some say it's better, some say otherwise. the same with UI.

1. Fixed quite long ago (I'm using Lasan's mod that has it)
2. No drain whatsoever... in 90% of cases it was caused by buggy apk, like FBCalendarSync... FYI, I get on average 2-3days with moderate usage
3. smoother than GB
4. i'm not a gamer, so cant really comment, but 2-3 games i had, worked just fine

1. Not everyone like to use fixes like this.
2. You're wrong, even CM9 use less battery than stock ICS. Battery drain is faster after charging, phone needs to be restarted to temporarily fix this bug.
3. For me smooth ideal was PolishBlood ICS, but IMO GB was a little bit faster than stock ICS.
4. I can agree here, few games were working for me and I didn't found any game causing problems on stock.
The biggest problem is that Sony really don't want to fix those problems. We can't expect JB if they can't release small OTA to fix i.e. LED and battery drain bug.

2. I was talking subjectively - I've never needed to restart after charging, and i dont have battery drain problems (i've removed FB and all apps that comes with it)
I would suggest everyone that has battery drain problems, to install better battery stats app and get to the root of what is really causing the drain. Most often it's some app or service that prevents the OS to go to a deep sleep (wakelocks), so it'll only say 'Android OS' is causing battery drain (in Settings->Battery).
Yeah, it's highly doubtful we'll receive JB, so Sony should to at least patch and optimize the ICS.

notification LED bug is not 100% solved
-XMP sk17 with Lasan's mod not working (semec phone FC after missed call)
-Acratrac's mod work on XMP sk17 but with Light Flow app(without Light Flow sms and missed call led not work)

In regards to the led fix, why wouldnt people like using fixes like this? Ins't that exactly how sony would fix it?
And for the charging bug, I dont have this, or havent noticed it anyway. I charge my phone over night. Then unplug it in the morning and most of the time it would only be at about 60% by 10 that night. I usually use for two days then charge over night again.

Maybe ICS UI is more beautiful, but there are many ways to put an ICS theme for GB. So that isn't a problem. Problem is that many games aren't compatible with ICS, and ICS drains a little more battery. I recently installed Cyanogenmod and a ICS theme so it looks very good, like if I have ICS installed on my phone. Besides I read in a website that ICS users are less than GB. I don't know but I prefer GB I think is the best right now. Maybe if they improve or update ICS later I will update it again.

actually that's irreleveant, since:
1. ICS is newer than GB. yeah, it's been around for a while, but operators might delay the updates for their branded phones etc.
2. continuing point 1., some operators might even not release the update, and not everyone is a power user
3. take a look at Sony 2011 phones: unless you connect your phone to PC Companion, you won't know about the update if you don't read mobile phone blogs and so on

optimize battery ICE CREAM

hello I apologize for my English use google translator wanted to know if anyone could optimize battery pa in ice cream rom rom me as this goes really well one fault I notice is that I spent battery in less than 12 hours
I assume you're talking about the Ice Cream Sandwich leaks? Nobody has good battery life at the moment, and its not yet known if it'll be fixed. If you need good battery life, use a Gingerbread based rom.

Battary life and ROMS

Hi I loaded this rom to my I9100
GT-I9100_WanamLite.XXLSJ.V13.0.NO-WIPE
It is awesome but seems to really drain my battery.
considering testing
[I9100][ROM 4.1.2] Stock 4.1.2 JB to see if it improoves.
I want to find out what ROM has the best battery life on my phone.
Can anyone provide responses on what roms work flawlessly and dont have excessive battery drain.
Thanks so much in advance.
I love this forum.
first of all this question is against the rule regardless how it is worded. check the sticky at the top of this forum.
Battery drain depends on a number of factors.
Some of the factors are :
What type of apps you have on the phone.
Do you leave wifi on all days
Do use push email set how often
How you use your phone for calls, streaming and games.
These factors are different from person to person, there for what one rom works for one person may not work for you.
The best way is to experiment with different roms till you find one that suits you in aappearance and battery life.

Ok this topic you created proves that you didn't even bother to watch the XDA intro video when registering or even bother to do a quick search of forum OR read sticky topics.
Here is the video you need to watch before asking any more questions...

you'll have to test for yourself... combination of roms+kernels etc... but personally rootbox 3.2 (with default kernel) gave me the best battery life...
