[Q] :@@@ Help me to choose... - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Plzz guys...I just downgrade from 4.0.4 to 2.3.6 and flashed checkrom revo6...i like it and his functions but in same time i like ics very much..i just downgrade cuz ics had some bugs like wifi stuck when turned on,keypad showed slow, some games dont work etc but all the other things were perfect..i had XWLPQ . Plz tell me if there is any anoher ics availible and without bugs ? and are there any roms or kernels for ics like gb ... so is there any ics rom that is equal with checkrom revo6 ? thnxx guys,,,

shoot yourselfbest way

Have you thought of just trying different ics roms yourself (theres a few to choose from) and then go from there n decide which you prefer to use

In other words whats best rom kernel etc posts are banned this is a Developers forum where users are supposed to have a minimum level of intelligence enough to backup read the faqs and guides read descriptions and try if not they should not be here .
jje

How correct its is even said in the humor sense...
"You know you are rooted when spend more time flashing roms than using your phone"
I heard someone saying "I am mad now who bloody **** invented this rooting"

[Q] New to android and galaxy s2 !!!!!

I have a few questions sorry if its a repost but id rather make sure I get a good answer to those questions then any other variant of them.
I got a galaxy s2 a week ago and I feel like the battery life is really bad and the phone heats alot sometimes.... (BTW this is my first smartphone EVER) I was wondering which one of all these custom ROMs out there is the best for the galaxy s2? Which one will give me the smoothest experience with a good battery life and fix that heating problem?
Also, I have the Canadian bell's version so MUGKG2... When I look at ROMs all I see is XXKH3 or XXKE7, etc... Basically how and what version do I have to use/install to get a custom ROM? (P.S I know how Odin works and I know how to root since my phone is already rooted)
And what is the latest Android version possible to get on the galaxy s2? I heard something about 4.0 but I think the latest version possible to install is the 2.3.4 am I right? Also, every ROM is 2.3.4 right? Or do I have to flash a 2.3.4 (or 4.0 depending on the latest version) kernel on the phone?
Thanks for your time and have a good day!!!!!!!
Nick
1. there's no exact answer to which rom or kernel gives the best batt life. u should actually test them to see which fits your preference. there are also threads here which does benchmarkings and testing out batt life. try searching for them.
2. when u install a custom rom, it will say on their thread on what baseband version they based their rom. for example, LeoMar's ROM is based on KH3, etc. the rom chooses it for you basically.
3. the latest is 2.3.4, and almost all custom ROMs are based on 2.3.4. no need to flash anything extra
Ok so do I actually have to find a XXKG2 or MUGKG2 based ROM or I can take anything? And from personal experience which one do you think is the best one?
you can actually take in anything (at least your phone's getting an updated baseband version thru the custom roms).
i'm not quite sure how the different versions of the baseband affects my phone. i don't notice any difference in performance actually.
Aight!!! Thanks man. Which one do you recommend?
you can try using the dlev2 rom version 1.2 , its indeed great and also has good battery life

cognition or litening rom can be good choices to start with.
leomar rom gives a lot of customization options because it has a kitchen app on the android market.
My recommendation is that you read some more, get comfortable before you flash anything on your device, know what you are about to get into instead of going on someone else's opinion, the questions you ask are of someone who doesn't fully understand what they are about to do.
It helps when you read a lot, you are able to think your own way through if something doesn't go exactly as planed, else you would have to come right back here to ask a million questions
you can find official firmware here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
as a few posts above i agree what that person said..do a bit more reading before you start flashing. i can remember the time when i wanted to start flashing and rooting and when i did not back up the stock rom the first time i panicked and i did not know what to do and how to get back the stock rom...funny now but back then not so funny..
anyway research play with your stock rom for a while and then flash...for custom rom i would suggest a few...Im using BatistaRom 3.7.7 its the smoothest fastest and battery efficient rom i have used so far...even when i go and try other roms i always come back to this one. For battery as well VillainRom 2.4.2 is one heck of a custom rom and the battery life on that bad boy is wicked..
With regarding kernels again it varies...read the threads of the rom you are interested in flashing and see what people suggest on them..
good luck and be careful when rooting and flashing. any help you need throw me a PM..
Yeah, there are like tons of ROMs and customizations for SGS2 and all major developers are cooking something or the other for our GS2...
Selection of ROM depends only on taste. Some people wants battery life, some people wants only speed and performance. So ask yourself, what kinda ROM you need. One built from scratch, one modded from stock, AOSP?
I use GingerMod Vanilla 0.4. Suits my taste

[Q] Whats the most basic - stock like ICS rom out for this phone?

Friends got this phone and hes tired of waiting for ICS. I told him id put a custom rom on there, but i want to make sure its stable because i dont want him to have many bugs.
Which ROM should i go with? Im guessing he would probably prefer a samsung based rom over a AOSP rom.
Your title of the thread and your question posted do not match. If you want the most stock and stable ROM then here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1731382
If you want something else then 10 users will give you 10 different recomendations. Then they will say its great and pefect but blahblah don't work and the ROM will only FC a few times daily.
Link to the stock ROM above should be the way to go unless you and your friend want to sit down and do some reading on your own.

[Q] Doubt n Question about galaxy s2 and s2g.. ??

Hello guyz,
Actually i want to buy galaxy s2 but since sammy has released galaxy s2 g its vry tough decision for me to buy it or not due to lack of custom roms it has as compared to orignal galaxy s2.
But today i m getting very gud deal on second hand galaxy s2g which attracts me to buy it... but still i m worried for roms n customizations it has as compared to galaxy s2g..
Since i hv nt much time to see all its..custom roms , kernel , user reviews , customizations..etc
as i hv 2 tell him to buy it or not.
So.plz experienced users answer my ques-
1) if it enuf.poweful like orignal galaxy s2 which runa very smooth and support most of apps n hd games ??
2) does it has no. Of gr8 n stable fast n smoothly working both stock n custom ics roms ??
If cyanogenmod 9 and miui v4 both of dem which based on ics 4.0.4 r officially available without any bugs n almost stable ?? If not den if its unofficialy available ???
3) does it have kernels supporting overlclock, vodoo sound or dsp manager or beats audio or srs wow equalizers customizations for awsum music qualiy ??
4) If ever we will be getting any jellybean based custom roms n also stable jellybean roms ??
i knw dis ques. is annoying bt i m in hurry for taking decesion... so dats why just clearing my doubt..
bt still sorry for it
Hope my doubts will be cleared soon.
plz... some put light on dis...
i hv 2 tell dat guy 2day for buying it or not...
If it is the best price for you buy it - there are many Custom ROMs for it you just have to look in I9100G Android Development Forum.
I do not think S2 or S2G will get official JellyBean and CM10 for I9100G is further than CM10 for I9100.

But please have a look on your writing - it is horrible to read through!

bro i hv already mentioned dat i hv nt so.much time to take luk at dat...
even if i do it will screw my mind by reading lot of people reviews...
You're going to have to read a lot of reviews then, aren't you ? People aren't going to spoonfed you information you're perfectly capable (but clearly too lazy) of reading yourself. You've been told where to get the info, so go find it :-/
If you don't have the time to read a few threads, then I'd strongly advise you to leave the phone on stock firmware if you do buy one, chances are you'll end up bricking it because you won't be bothered to read/follow instructions if you try & root it/flash non-stock firmware.

this comparison should answer most of your question.
with respect to custom rom gt-i9100 has more than gt-i9100g. regarding JB not yet known as work has just started and in early stages until unless samy releases JB for these devices (in dreams) as a surprise
previously i got 6000+ of antutu benchmark using the 'G' with STOCK Rom. Plus Nexus and Galaxy S3 are also in the OMAP line. Why bother the "Do's and the Dont's"? just pick up one and enjoy it.

haha..u r ryt bro...but i m just verifying dat if i buy dis.fone.den.if i will get all da features of customizations dat s2 i9100 has ...
It's basically the same phone, same speed (When cpu cap removed) and Same android version. But... with different hardware.
i9100 got lots of customization because it's already in the market long before the G. The g is newer.

There's good news!
take a peek into the "G" thread and see for yourself.

Sorry for Offtopic
hahah..... den I m taking my words back

New to the note

I have Straight Talk,
4.0.4
kernel 3.0.8
build
IMM76D.UCLF6
I also have SU and CM 5.5
Wondering what Rom will give me the best performance (battery a life +) , do I need to have a different kernel to upgrade to JB? What about a different BL , it was a royal time waster upgrading my Acer A500 from GB to ICS , Does it even matter being on Straight Talk , I mean just the ATT roms work fine , but I like to experiment , I dont want to go hog wild because this is the only fone I got right now and I need it , but a custom rom is always better!
Can you guys tell me about the kernels to roms and if I stay with a stock kernel can use what roms (I mean with 4.0.4 this ICS ,how do I go about JB?) i KNOW i FEEL LIKE A NOOB HERE, but its different ,plus Ive been doing winfone 7 for 2 years , just got to get back into it!

what do you suggest ?? I am on ICS

hey all
its been a while
well long story short i am on ICS on my XT912 vzn ,
using it as gsm phone outside country at this time.
having safestrap and got a few rom slots ,
want to get afresh look
can anyone plz link me to a ics kernel based JB rom which is totally debloated and optimized for better battery life
At this time i am losing 1 to 1.5% battery while sitting idle , without anything running
would appreciate some help
even if it means moving to JB altogether , plz guide me regarding that as well.
thanks
AW: what do you suggest ?? I am on ICS
For ICS based Roms (XT912) have an look here
http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php?/topic/1171-Look-Here-For-All-Available-Roms#entry21091
Also you should have an look @ the Dev section of Droidrzr, there you'll find the Dualboot Method for ICS <>JB without apply the whole OTA. On that way you can always flash back to ICS and you'll be able to use all Roms in the List.
An best Rom is related to your needs. You'll have to find it by Crackflashing your Device or read the Threads.
