[Q] Revert htc rezound to stock - HTC Rezound

Hey everyone,
I want to revert my HTC Rezound to stock. I am currently on gingerbread rooted but my root is not working at all in ADB or any other apps and I think I rooted incorrectly, is there some way I can run an SBF or something like that and just flip back to the stock non rooted rom and start all over?
If not, can someone link me to some instructions or post some instructions on how I can revert my htc rezound completely back to stock?
Thanks,
Ljbaumer

Here is a link to the thread with the RUUs (Like SBF, but for HTC). Scrosler also has them on his site as well.

I usually use the exe. It will walk you through the steps on your PC. Or I believe you can flash the .zip from recovery with choose zip from SD option. You will have to have the bootloader locked to run them though.

Ok thanks again
So I am downloading the exe right now and it will finish in 2 hours or so, are you saying that if I am trying to run it I need to have to have a locked bootloader?
I know mine is unlocked right now, do I just lock it from the HTC website? If so what do I need to lock it again?

You lock it in fastboot with "fastboot oem lock" command without the quotes. No need for HTCdev in this case

Before going through the RUU, try the Unsecured kernel if you wish to run root commands through ADB.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1443324
It is an overclocked kernel. If you don't want it you need to lower the max cpu clock with CPU Master.

Ok just re-locked the bootloader through fastboot in CMD, if I want to unlock it in the future can I just do fastboot unlock or whatever?
I am going to run the RUU .exe right now, I take it you just do that all from the bootloader?
Thanks,
Ljbaumer

1. Yup, just hold onto the unlock_code.bin
2. Have it name PH98IMG.zip, make sure you are either s-off or on GB firmware. Have you flashed the ICS leaked firmware?

I am in the middle of flashing the .exe RUU from my computer and I was just on GB Sense rooted (kinda it was funky) and I just wanted to go back to stock and then unlock, root, and install clean rom and whatever kernel I need with that.
I think I still have my unlock_code.bin from my first unlocking, I am not sure if I have PH98IMG.zip still though... if I don't have it where would I get it from?
I would like to install this rom, can I just go straight from stock HTC sense after the RUU and install it using the instructions on the ROM thread or do I have to unlock my bootloader again? If so can someone link me to some step by step instructions or just post them in the thread?
Thanks for all of the help,
Ljbaumer

Installation of the rom is listed halfway down the first post. Since you are running the January RUU. you will need to flash the old firmware patch in the Cleanrom folder on you're SD card. You will need to be unlocked. Don't forget to re-flash Amon RA & delete any current PH98IMG's off your external sd card.
EDIT:
Oh also, your freshly RUU'd rom. Let it boot to a home screen at least because you will need to get access to your SD card.

Need help loading MIUI on rezound!
Can someone tell me why I can't install MIUI from a zip file through recovery on a s-off rezound? I have already followed all steps using controlbear and root methods. The phone has cwm touch recovery, but gives me an error every time I try to install MIUI.

Safe way to revert to Gingerbread Stock

Hi guys,
I have rooted, S-OFF, 4EXT recovery, SuperCID, running Stock T-Mobile ICS HTC Amaze. My current configuration is
SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT 1.93.2222
Radio_1.14.550L.17DC_30.78.550L.15
I have searched "Amaze how to revert to stock" from within the forum and google as well but the answers came up so confuse and not very clear. So I dare to oen a new thread here asking for help. Somebody else might looking for the same thing.
Basically I want to go back to T-Mobile Stock Gingerbread. I have:
Hasson AllinOne V3.1,
PH85IMG_Ruby_TMOUS_1.43.531.3_Radio_1.08.550L.19DC_30.66.550L.08D_release_228638_signed
How would I safely going back to stock?
I know I have to flash the PH85IMG_Ruby_TMOUS_1.43.531.3 via fastboot as the last step but what step should I take first? Flash the stock bootloader first or flash the stock recovery first?
Any advice would be appriciated
Im S-on so idk if its different.
download this: http://www.filefactory.com/file/c0d...19DC_30.66.550L.08D_release_228638_signed.zip
idk if its the same one you have but just download it just in case, and RENAME IT to PH85IMG.
AFter that put it in your sd and boot into bootloader and then fastboot so it reads that file. then just click yes to the update and you are set.
^^ will that "update" revert EVERYthing back to s-on, shipped bootloader and recovery?
Will it revert the radio as well?
You might need to run the Mainver Error Fix in the all-in-one toolkit. It "spoofs your software version so you can downgrade your ROM."
Hasoon can correct me on this if I'm wrong.

Someone PLEASE reply to this gentlemen. This is the exact same problem I'm having at the moment, and have been for a week. I've looked high and low, and was on the verge of creating a new thread.
Just flash the stock file you have via hboot by renaming it to PH85IMG and placing it on your sdcard.

This is the same process I've been following. When I flash the stock file, I get the Mainver Error. When I try using Hasoon's Mainver Error Fix, command prompt tells me the device isnt found. I get no further than this.

Fastboot.
This was my first root, and I've done nothing to mess around with anything related to security, so I'm gonna say S-On.
And I'm currently on ICS.

If you're on ICS, you cannot revert to GB, so your best option would be to flash a custom recovery, 4EXT recommended and look in the dev section for Hasoon2000's thread of stock zip files, download the carrier file that's for your device and flash that via a custom recovery, since T-Mobile is the only carrier we have bootloader flashable ruu files.

I actually meant I was flashing to stock ICS. I just posted here for sake of simplicity. I have all of this ready to go already. Recovery and stock .zip. The only problem left is that the Mainver Fix in Hasoon's AIOT doesn't detect my device. I heard the fix for this is enabling USB Debugging, but I cannot do that since I get a permanent whitescreen after I boot up my device, and I've unlocked/relocked my bootloader and it reset the USB Debugging option. I feel like I'm pretty screwed at this point. Definitely not giving up, though.

You're going around in circles and that's not exactly gonna solve the problem atm.

Download this file: http://d-h.st/3VD
Relock your devices bootloader, put the device into fastboot, get hasoon's tool ver 3.2, or whatever the latest atm is, relock/lock the bootloader command.
rename that file PH85IMG exactly like that, put it on your sdcard, not your phone memory, do not extract it or place it into any folders, reboot into bootloader, volume up to update.
Let it boot completely at least once before attempting to root/flashing a custom rom.
Going for it. Thanks for the help so far. I'll report back soon.

[Q] ICS to GB S-On

Before I begin, I've read through a lot of threads on different forums and have yet to find a solution (that's working for me.)
I could never get my device to S-OFF so simply dropped the task. Not in too big of a rush right now. That being said, I'd like to go back to GB for a bit just to try a few things out.
I never flashed the ICS firmware, therefor I've had to use the old firmware patches. So, I tried running the RUU for GB and it only encountered error after error and my phone stayed at the black HTC screen. Any ideas?
Phone works just fine, just rebooted while I was typing this post and went straight into my ROM.
Only way I found is S-off'd, I had to go back to GB after ICS since it came on the phone I bought and needed to return it. Everyone told me I had to S-Off then RUU
If s on make sure you relock bootloader, then you should be able to run the gb ruu for whichever version you were on.

Downgrading radios when s-on could very well hard brick your phone. I strongly recommend that you s-off first.

If you never ran an ics ruu you still were on gb firmware....so you can run a gb ruu. When you run the same ruu that's not downgrading....sheesh :rolleyes . And its probably the easiest way to get back to a working phone if you are lost and don't really know what you are doing.

Tried that. RUU said "Could not update your phone at this time."
I came from stock GB originally in...April. Is there a specific RUU for that?
I've never used RUU's before so I'm lost.
aaand now, I'm pretty sure my phone is a brick. It's re-locked now, can't go into recovery, won't boot into ROM.

Still only a soft brick. Would suggest trying the other of the two GB RUU .exe version packages if you only tried one of them, just a suggestion until someone else can help you and diagnose.

Tried. It's stuck on the "Verifying the information on your PDA Phone...Please wait..." screen.
EDIT: Nevermind, went into Fastboot, working now. Let you know how it goes. Thanks for the help so far.
I'm getting a bootloader version error. An ICS RUU should fix this, right? Granted, I know that means I can't go back until I S-Off, but I'd rather that than have a soft bricked phone
I am in the same boat - S-ON. I flashed Scott's ICS Rooted Stock Rom, along with the GB Patch. I downloaded the PH98IMG.zip and HBOOT doesn't recognize it. Trying the exe may resolve this?
Issue resolved thanks to dsb in the IRC channel. For some reason, I thought I had to throw the unlock.bin on my SD card to unlock.
And to the guy above me, try pushing it through adb. Extract the ROM, find the boot.img, throw it into your ADB directory.
adb reboot bootloader
(make sure you're in fastboot USB)
fastboot flash boot boot.img

With the new leak out, I haven't. However, I can still help.
Make sure there is no P98IMG file on your SD card.
1. Download the mainver fix from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23169557&postcount=4
2. Drop GB ROM of your choice onto SD card.
3. Flash the fix in recovery and reboot into bootloader.
4. Relock your phone by going into adb and typing in fastboot oem lock
5. Run GB RUU of your choice.
6. Use the HTCDev unlock on your bootloader
7. Download a recovery and push it to your phone by typing in fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
8. Boot into recovery, flash ROM, enjoy.

[Q] I need help with how to relock phone and install the latest GB RUU

So I have figured out that in order for my SD card to mount right (since it isn't mounting to my phone at all) and for my phone to stop bootlooping, I have to reflash an RUU. So I'm a bit of a noob still with this kind of stuff so please bear with me I just need someone to link the latest GB RUU for me and explain step by step on how to relock my phone....Please if someone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate!!! Actually it would be great if someone could also explain how to install the RUU step by step from beginning to end for me I would love that please I would really appreciate it. Thanks!!!

You just have to flash the unlock token again you don't have to do the whole thing unless you deleted your unlock token.
If you flashed one of the ICS leaks, in order to go back to GB, you will have to be s-off or it will not work. If you are still on GB, then you have 2 ways to do it. You will need to have your bootloader locked and then download one of the 2.01.605.11 downloads HERE. Each one works a little differently. The one ending in exe is the full RUU that you will have to run on your computer with the Rezound connected witha data cable. The one ending in .zip can be put on your external sd card, renamed to PH98IMG.zip and will run when you reboot to your bootloader.
I used the Hasoon2000 tool kit. It has a relock button built in and is way easy to use with step by step instructions for unlock, root and s-off.

You should be able to flash the GB RUU if you only flashed the ICS rom. If you didn't flash an ICS leak, then you still have the GB firmware so should be good to go. There are some stock rooted GB out there too if those interest you.
EDIT: as mikey said..you need to be locked if you want to flash the RUU.

Wow thank you so so much. I have been searching forever for an .exe RUU for GB. It seemed like I was never going to find one. Thanks for the link man. I am downloading both right now. So as of right now, I have 2 .zip ROM files that I installed yesterday onto my external SD card. Or will it just read the PH98IMG.zip one since I changed the name of the file?

Ok yes, run the RUU, then you unlock your phone. When u unlocked your phone the first time, you had to flash An Unlock_code.bin file. Did you delete that? Or do u still have it? If you have it you can place it in your adb and fastboot folder, cd into that folder, and type
Code:
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
if you didn't keep it, you have to do the whole HTCDev unlock like you did the first time

Topgun, nope I didn't flash the ICS leaked RUU as soon as I rooted my phone, i thought I could go ahead and flash any ROM. just like i did with my dinc2. So i just flashed an ICS ROM and then when bootlooping started happening and my sd card not mounting at all. Now I'm really wanting to s-off because it sucks that every time I want to flash a ROM I have to flash an RUU first or whatever. kinda annoying. s-off here I come!! well as soon as my phone is back to normal of course lol

Ya I still have the unlock code thank God lol. Ok thanks I will do that after I run the RUU.

I know what the issue is. You don't need to flash An ICS RUU, you just need the SD patch, since ICS and GB have different mount points for the sd card. You can find that patch in slimrom's thread, or the cleanrom de thread. try flashing that in recovery before you relock and ruu, if you havent already. And if you flash the ICS RUU you only have to do it once not every time you flash a rom
edit, too slow....

Dang that would have been nice lol. But ive locked my phone back up again and tried running the RUU. an error came up so it didn't work. but i was told that sometimes it takes a couple of times correct??? Also I can't figure out how to rerun the RUU now. When I go to where the file is, the file is a rar. file. and i don't see anywhere on how to run the file again...I need help with that. do i have to extract the file into a certain folder? Gosh such a process when you don't know how to do everything lol

Ya know, I actually have no idea. what you could do is run an ICS RUU all you have to do is put it on the SD card as a PH98IMG.zip

Ok, so isn't the ICS RUU an exe file? And then rename it to PH98IMG?.zip?

The ICS RUU is not an EXE its just a zip. You rename it to PH98IMG.zip and place it on the SD card and Flash in HBoot. You just have to make sure to to flash it all the way because it reboots twice during the process i believe
Edit: to make it clearer, the GB RUU is an Exe, but all the ICS RUU's are zips

Bail me out please

I'm S-on and running Conrom. I decided to relock and go back to stock to take the latest update.
After executing fastboot oem lock, my phone won't boot past the Hboot screen.
When I installed Conrom I temp flashed amon ra. After that my hboot said Tampered but everything worked great.
Now it says Tampered, Relocked, Security Warning.
How do I get back to the .12 OTA or Conrom for that matter?
Fastboot devices will return my serial number. Adb devices returns nothing.
Thanks!
Fastboot unlock. Or just S-Off.

Thanks LS! Unlocking got me back to Conrom. Before I set everything up again I'd like to go back to .12.
I have the files; I just need to know how to do that. I have to be locked to run the ruu and locking is what got me in trouble.
Any idea how I need to proceed?

you have to be on a stock hboot before re-locking. i would flash a stock hboot, then re-lock, and finally ruu.
EDIT: just saw you are still S-ON. I honestly forget the workarounds for being S-ON.

I *think* I'm on a stock hboot. I never purposely changed it so it should be stock unless Conrom changed it.
Let me see if I can take a picture and post it.
Here's a picture:
I believe I had the same problem when the ICS OTA came out. Here's what you'll need to do, and someone please correct me if I am wrong.
Go here and download the newest RUU: http://www.filefactory.com/f/c2e320ee1d5c7886/

OK so open the ruu and follow it until it tells you to plug in your device. Don't plug it in. Open the start menu in windows and type in %temp% and hit enter and then find the most recent folder open it and find the rom.zip file. Drag that to your desktop, rename it PH98IMG.zip and place it on the root of your rezound SD card and flash in Hboot

Before you flash the PH98IMG file you'll need to lock your bootloader. This will get you to the stock OTA from last week, and you should be able to get the new OTA.

I already have the ruu on my computer. I installed it before I installed Conrom and then removed it from my sd card. I realize I need to lock my bootloader but that's where I got hung up. When I relocked, it wouldn't boot past the hboot/fastboot screen.
I don't know if it's safe to put the ruu back on my sd card, relock and reload the ruu.
Here is the the 3.14.605.10 RUU as a PH98IMG:
http://db.tt/p6sIKXrp
You just need to drop that on your SD card and go.
I still stand by my recommendation of S-Off. Never unlock again!
Also makes flashing RUUs and such way easier.

Can I drop the 3.14.605.12 RUU as a PH98IMG on my sd card instead?
May have to look into S-Off but this is my work phone. I just want to get back to the latest stock for now.
I really appreciate your help!

Download the 3.14.605.12.zip and rename ph98img.zip. Put it on your sdcard. After that boot into bootloader and lock your phone. After you lock go back into bootloader and it will recognize and flash the ph98img.zip. flash this twice and you are good to go

I'll give it a whirl. When I locked it, that's when it gave me the security warning and wouldn't boot to the rom. It did look for the PH98IMG file which wasn't on the sd card so I'll try that again with it on the sd card. Hopefully it will load as it should.

No need to lock as flashing the RUU in bootloader will relock it for you, it will also s-on. The important part is to make sure you are on a stock hboot, which it looks like you are. If you want to go through the effort of flashing the RUU, just flash it, then you will need to unlock and s-off if you'd like

It's working on the second flash as we speak. Thanks for all the help! I'll report back success or failure.

But i do not have the stock recovery and unsure how to get it.
I tried skipping the step and just going from re-locking phone to updating from bootloader but I get a CID incorrect error.
Any help is appreciated, I have never had so much trouble updating a ROM
PS.
I wasn't aware so much was needed to upgrade from my BulletProof ROM to this ROM, I just flashed like I would have before and now I am in an HTC Boot loop

I went through that, but the RUU is an exe, or do I rename the OTA zip file to PH85IMG.
When I went through this process it loaded PH85IMG, did the check and then nothing. Never asked me to update or anything. I wouldn't have posted to ask for help if I didn't need it.

No. Connect your phone and flash the EXE. PH85IMG is ONLY for T-Mobile Users. Everyone else uses an EXE.
LMAO some things never change
Good luck with ICS

Thanks for your help! I have never felt like such a noob....I swear I am actually good with tech lol
So I managed to get my phone flashed, thanks for all of your help, but I thought the flash was suppose to upgrade me to ICS, but it installed a stock 2.3.4 I am so confused. After flashing the EXE am I suppose to use the OTA.zip? If so, from what I am reading I need to S-OFF.
I tried installing CM9 after the flash and I am able to boot, but once its loads and begins the initial setup it freezes on the Select Language screen and reboots. I have searched the forum and no luck.
