so if anyone watches vampire diaries,, klaus sends a picture text on his Gnote,
I CAN NOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO THAT
help is appreciated..
please and Thank you!!!!!
the episode was Season 3 episode 18 i think.. half way through..
he basically writes and clicks sends,, and the image got sent,, not a typed message.
so if he a word his handwriting would've shown as a picture rather then the typed word,
i have the note, and i would really love to be able to do that
There is a round about way.
In smemo write your message, then hit menu button, then share with and messaging.

Use GO SMS Pro as your messaging app. It's built in.. I use it all the time.

doesn't really work that well
so when i tried that, it sent them a link to a website, which had to be clicked in order to view it.. so that isn't working.. any other suggestions?

if you want to use a pre-existing pic, just press the attach button (its a paper clip on the left side of the text input window), and choose from the options below
....or you can use the note to take a screen capture by holding the pen button and long pressing the screen, then draw/write on it and share via GO SMS Pro
.
ok i get that, but is there a way to free write and send it quickly? without going through allot of buttons,, is there a quick and easy way,, say i wanna just text with mms?
It depends on the phone. If they are a GO SMS user, they receive it directly, otherwise it goes as a link.
I guarantee that Klaus was using GO SMS on his Note. I saw the episode.

OK my droidx there was a phone icon in the recent call log and I believe the address book that I could tap to call the person. With the gs3 I have to open up the contact first and then hit the call button. Anyway to make it call directly from the contact list?

swiping to the right on the contact will call , to the left will open messaging.
I'm pretty sure this is on by default... if not you will have to enable it.
Oh fantastic that works great. Is there a post with other such tricks?

Nice find, thanks!
It pauses for about 1-2 seconds which is a little annoying - seems slow, but it's definitely better than clicking everywhere!
Is there any way to get the ICS dialer on here? (rather than using something like Go Dialer)
Is there no way to open an email message (stock mail client) and then swipe to the next message, and/or swipe back? I'm having to open each message, read the message, hit the back button, select the next message, rinse, repeat. Please tell me I'm missing something obvious?
Yep. That's they way it works.
Hmm. After much deliberation, I've concluded that blows goats. I'm a bit disgruntled about the current inability to root this device and correct this, and other oversights. Bah!

I've recently found k9email...way better than the stock client.
Agreed. I've been using k9 for a couple of years, and like it better than the stock app on Dinc4g. Easy to set up, multiple accts, leave some on the server in folders, some not. It just works.

It's been a while since I've looked at K9. Perhaps it's time to take another look. Thanks all.

On the ROMs with quick reply built in for texting we need to be able to have the keyboard come up automatically when quick reply is pressed rather than just having the pop up menu display and then having to tap the text line to make the keyboard appear. Its an annoying and un-necessary extra step.
The question then is where do we start? I'm willing to devote some time to this.

Hmm I guess I thought I was in q&a when I posted this. Oh well damage done.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I agree. The only benefit of it is that it doesn't close whatever app you are in, some apps close if you open the messaging tabs.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Nah I don't want to go to the messaging app itself. If you look at imei's quick reply the popup and keyboard both automatically pop up and overlay on the current window when the quick reply is hit. Ours is the same except the keyboard doesn't pop up automatically. That's what needs to change
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
The ROM I'm on the quick reply pops up and you hit the messaging field and start typing....all without going to messaging. You have the option but I still stick with quick reply.
Sent from my Nintendo 64
No that's the point. You have to hit the message field to get the keyboard to come up. Why? The fact that I hit quick reply inherently means I want to type something back. Where did I say anything once about going into the text app?

Idk if I just read that reply wrong but it seems like you're being a demanding ass. I realize u didn't say anything about going into the app itself....I was just simply throwing that out there. So what you are wanting is the ability to receive a message and the keyboard automatically pop up or when u click the recieved message from the notification drawer, hit quick reply, and the keyboard pop up? The first part would be annoying as an iPhone and the second part is already in a ROM that I'm using. But with your attitude, good luck finding it and getting a dev to work on it.

Not here or any where within the XDA Community, will this be tolerated, Closed and dealt with .
I want to be able to copy something on my screen using the S Penn, you know like when you draw a circle around something and it copies to your clipboard. And then I want to paste it into my message my gmail app . This possible? Sorry for the poor grammar the voice to text is not working too well right now.

Haven't really tried it much yet but I press the s-pen button and hold it, circle the object and it copy's to clipboard in gallery under screenshots. I can find it in the gallery and when long pressing the image I can choose the messaging, gmail etc. icon and send it in text, or while in text I can tap the paperclip and find it in gallery.
Hope that makes sense and I didn't read your question wrong.
Happy Holidays
That helps, thanks for that. In gmail on the PC you can just do ctrl v while you are typing your message and it will show the image in the message Instead of down below as an attachment. Any way to do that? If not, no big deal.

cool!
Haven't had mine hooked up yet to the PC since mine is a dinosaur (PC that is!)
I doubt the N2 will allow you to do the same as on your PC, but if it can I'm sure someone will chime in. Still should show though as the actual pic instead of an attachment that you have to open on the N2
Peace!!
How often do you guys use the S-pen for the galaxy note 3 and honestly..do you guys really use S-note, Air Command etc...lol

Never. It's just a silly gimmick, along with theair view, hand gesture, eye tracking horse ****, which has been turned off since day one.
Out of everything in air command, I only use pen window and very little times action memo. Everything else is basically garbage to me
Been using mine a lot to help keep up with to do list. Mostly action memo.

I only use it when I try to decide if there is a use for it and then yea, I end up not using it!
I use my S Pen daily. I type faster with it, I use it to navigate non touch optimized full desktop pages, I use it in my machine shop when i have grit and metal particles on my hands, I use it to take notes at meeting and convert to text later, I use it for photo editing, I use it to cut out pictures, copy and paste, take snapshots, draw sketches and use it to auto-complete shapes, etc. I could go on and on.
I use my spen all the time so I can hear the light saber sound when I take it out and put it back .....lol

Never used it on my Note 2, never use it on my Note 3. I buy the Note series for the screen real estate. I could not care less about a novelty pen, lol.
I use it every Sunday in church to take notes. And sometimes during the week.

Constantly. I would not have this device with out a pen. Responding to business questions with an illustrated PDF I personalize with layered explanations over drawings catalog pages, or photos is a unique and invaluable too
