I'm trying to edit a widget using Ninjamorph but it isn't finding ant images on my phone. Is there an alternative to edit apk files? Cheers!

... so is it as easy as just unzipping and changing out the drawable folders? I have Ubuntu and want to give this a shot to start out.
This is exactly how I'm doing it to make the theme with my images instead making it look way different from any other and to my likes. You can play around with the XML files too to make more changes. I do that to add or remove apps on the theme

If you are swapping images that will work. If you need to edit xmls or java you need to decompile.

Advanced settings>Interface>status bar tweaks.
You can change signal to text (#-db), but I don't see a way to disable it all together.
Maybe if you use 7zip, you could pull out (copy) your systemUI.apk, nav to res/drawable hdpi, find the signal icon, and delete it. Then replace current systemUI.apk with that. I don't think it would have any negative affects, but if so, just put the original systemUI.apk in system/app (the location systemUI always is)
Good luck.

I would like to change the lockscreen internally, not with one application.
I guess it must be in framework-res. apk, but I do not know what to change.

See if you just want to change the slider tabs then look for pngs with name like jog_slider_tab un framework-res.apk
But if you want to change the style like puzzle or 9 lockscreens then deep modding in framework.jar and android.policy.jar is required
Thank you

What icons are you looking to change? If its in the app drawer, you'd need to go in and change the file one by one unless you found a perfect theme. There are a few good apps that let you change icons on the home screen. Desktop VisualizeR is a good one.
I want to change app drawer icons without any theme.

Whichever app's icon you want to change, first get it on your PC. Decompile it, change the icon and then recompile!
Replace it with the current app with root explorer!

- First transfer the apk file, you want to edit, to your computer. ( I am assuming you know how to )
- Use 7zip to extract the apk on your PC.
- Edit the icons you want in the folder you just got after extracting the apk.
- Now open the Original Apk with 7zip.
- Now drag the edited icons from the extracted folder to the original apk and overwrite them.
Now you can install it on your phone!

Is there anyway to theme apps on the go? Meaning replace some icons, images with the phone....

Nope you need to decompile the apk and change the files which cant be done on the device.
You could use a custom launcher to change the image it uses for the icon but it won't actually change the apps icon
