[Q] unable to go to recovery - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

hey guys.
i am currently on an old version of the virtuous s rom and have a problem now.
i installed the latest version of cwm via rom manager and when i try to reboot my device into recovery so i can install a new rom. it only boots up normally again.
pressing both volume rockers and power button at the same time does make the device vibrate but nothing else happens.
i would really appreciate some help at booting into recovery or finding out what the problem might be.
cheers.
meaning

Press only volume down and power, then when it says press vol up to go to rcs or what ever, then let go and press volume up

Clockwork issue

Have a problem.
Phone will only boot into clockwork recovery. From there I can not get it to do anything. Reboot and power off just go to a rom manager logo and sticks there.
If I hit the power button.........it goes back to clockwork.
Please help. I was just trying to use the one click root before this happened..
Remember that the power button acts as a "back" function. You have go use the home key for menu selection.

[Q] Samsung phone stuck at screen saying 'Overstock' when I try to load cyanogenmod

Hi,
I am trying to install cyanogenmod by following this:
http :/ /wiki.cyanogen...ll_Update_Guide
But after
Installing the ClockworkMod Recovery step
I now just keep booting the phone into OverStock smaller. Ligher. Faster.
I have tried pressing the vol up/down button and power button to try to get the phone into Recovery, but that does not work.
Help please.
What is the version of cynogenmod? I think overstock kernel is for froyo roms .

Version 7.1
If you use gn bootloader,
For Recovery - Both Volume Keys + Power Button
For Download - Both Volume Keys and Connect usb cable
Or lidroid bootloader,
Download Mode: Volum Up + Home + Power buttons
Recovery Mode: Volum Down + Home + Power buttons
This might works for you.
I am just following this guide: http:/ / wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Vibrant:_Full_Update_Guide.
And I think I have installed 'Installing the ClockworkMod Recovery' since I only see the ' OverStock smaller. Ligher. Faster.' whenever the phone boots up.
My question is which bootloader I am using? gn? or lidroidbootload?
Don't know much about cm bootloader but froyo button combination should work.. try this method

Overstock is a froyo kernal so it looks like u need to Odin back to stock and retry. Or try to flash gb boot loaders then flash cm7

Here is a list of Kernels.
I regularly have it at the Overstock screen when flashing back to CM7... this is what I'd do:
1. If you're currently on the overstock screen, pull the battery and put it back in to shut it off.
2. Hold VOL-UP & VOL-DOWN while booting until you see the recovery screen.
3. If you see any errors while going into the recovery screen, you didn't let it stay on the Overstock screen for long enough, it needs time to repartition the filesystem to the format CM7 uses, if this happens, you should re-flash the overstock zImage with Heimdall, let the first boot stay on the Overstock screen for like 5 minutes, then restart at step 1. (You should hear your phone talking to you about a reformatting process while booting)
4. Turn on USB Mass Storage mode in the Mounts menu
5. Copy over the CM7 update package from here:
- get.cm/get/update-cm-7.1.0.1-Vibrant-signed.zip
6. Install the package.
7. Reboot & Profit.
EDIT: I just realized you said the recovery method does not work. That is odd, you should be able to... Did you press BOTH volume buttons at once using your index finger on VOL-UP, your middle finger on VOL-DOWN and your thumb on POWER?
thanx for this thread OP helped me out alot

[Q] I think I just bricked my SGP5

Coming from CM10.1, I wiped everything, and mistakenly rebooted into recovery instead of flashing a new ROM. So I see the Galaxy S/CM logo, and can't get into download mode. Tried power off/volume button combo. When I connect it to my computer, the device manager sees it, but Odin does not see it. Is my only shot now installing Ubuntu and attempting Heimdall? I'll wait till the battery drains to see if that will do anything. Thanks in advance for any help.
If you see the galaxy s/ cm logo it's not bricked. I've done what you did a few times but I managed to get into recovery/cwm mode or download mode. Just press power button + volume down for download mode. For cwm press power button + volume up. Hold both buttons and keep holding until just samsung appears then let go only the power button while holding volume up button until cwm menu appears.
FYI if you installed april 7th build cm 10.1, then the button combination for cwm does not work, if it was april 14th then button combinations work.

Thank You SO MUCH ! You were correct - I guess I wasn't waiting long enough while holding down the buttons. I'm back to Jackpot's ROM, and VERY HAPPY I didn't brick my device ! :highfive:
Anytime. Happy flashing!

Can't get into TWRP recovery from boot

I'm a bit of a noob at terminology and android settings so try to bear with me...
I'm running a deodexed vzw CleanRom v1.6.5 and I've downloaded TWRP recovery via gooManager. (Yes I've installed the recovery script from it.) Back when I had a stock rom, when I held the power + the volume up button it would go into TWRP recovery fine. But now (I don't know if it's CleanRom's fault) when I start up the phone into recovery mode using the shortcut the blue text would appear but it would restart normally.
My stock backup was corrupted for some reason and it softbricked my phone so I had to odin flash and go through all that rooting process again before restoring from my CleanRom backup via TWRP. So I don't really want to go back to stock, but I guess I can download a stock one if I really need to.
I can still enter TWRP by going into gooManager and pressing reboot recovery from there. Any solution to this?
I'm also on CleanRom 1.6.5 and it works for me... Vol up+power

To get mine to boot to recovery while phone is off I have to hold volume + and menu key at the same time. Then hit the power button until it vibrates then let go of the power button. If I keep holding the power button then the blue writing is displayed but instead of going into recovery it just reboots. However if I only hit the power button and release when it vibrates and I am still holding the volume + and menu key then it will boot to twrp recovery.
Alright, I'm feeling pretty foolish.
It was a simple user error that I really hate to admit. If I hold down the volume up and the power button and keep holding down both, the phone restarts as normal. But I should be letting go of the power button when the phone vibrates, while holding down the volume up button keeps it loading into the recovery mode. Don't know why I didn't have that problem before. I attempted Travis' idea first then experimented a little without the menu button and it worked fine.
Thanks.
Glad you got it figured out. :good:

True and that is what he said he has been doing. However what if you flash something and you get a boot loop. You can pull the battery and try again but if it boot loops again you will need to be able to get to your recovery with a non booting phone. That is why it is important to know how to boot the phone into recovery with out the need of any apps.

Precisely my thought process. I knew that at some time I'm bound to softbrick my phone again and I needed to boot recovery from startup.

Access TWRP or CWM recovery Lenovo S90

Hey guys,
I have a problem since 2 weeks now and it seems there is no answer to is...
I installed TWRP and also installed after the CWM recovery for trying purposes...
Here is my problem: After installing either of the recovery mode... Normally I switch off my phone after I "simply" need to press volume up button and power button simulatiously.... BUT it blo**y does not work.
So I wanted to ask: What am I doing wrong?
I have the TWRP-2.8.6.0_S90 and/or CWM_6.0.5.1
Help is much appreciated!
I tried something unconventional. I pressed the volume up and volume down key simultaneously while power on the device and twrp recovery booted up. Try yours.
