[Q] Overclocking - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So recently, i have just flashed Overcome 2.3.1 on my P7500 which have their own kernel with root. When i flashed Pershoot's Kernel with CWM, i lost root access. Is there any way to get the root access back? If i'm wrong, can someone tell me how to? Because i'm a total noob.
Thanks

I didn't have that problem when I flashed that kernel on overcome. I have had the problem of my tab freezing on me. This kernel is approved for non ics rooms right?

You have to flash back to stock kernel and then start from first

If anyone can helpe me, it would be great!

[Q] Which kernel to use for rooting Telstra DVKF4?

Have Telstra 9011T Kernel DVKF4. I want to root but the insecure kernel for that version is not available yet but I have been told to use a kernel as close as possible to my current one when I root. Anyone else rooted on Telstra and what kernel did you use?
bear in mind too once I root I only want to do backup and then Im going to install custom ROM anyway so the insecure kernel I use will get replaced so all I want is a kernel that will be sufficient for doing root and backup and then it will be replaced
Thanks
I don't no if you have seen this thread :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166701

[Q] clear some things regarding kernels , roms on new ics 4.01

hi,
i have a new sg2 i9100 version witch came with 4.04 and no brick bug as reported the emmc.
i am searching for days and i am a bit confused .i am not familiar with that kind of softwares and i would like your help.
the goals: i want to root, and to be able to flash any rom i want.
1)if i understand so far i will need a kernel too?
2)i do not have the knowledge to understand what varius kernels offer and i simply choosed the siyah since it is the most popular(??) the s6 version states "This kernel is only for Samsung JB ROM (No ICS support anymore).
that means that my ics 4.04 will not be accesible and working anymore and i should flash a rom imidiately after the kernel flash?i do not mind to flash rom imediately after siyah kernel since i do not have anything instaled on the phone yet.
is it posible?with odin?1.86 , 3.04?
3)after the siyah kernel flash from the oficial siyah site , do i have root?
4)do i have cwm? if not what do i need to do?
5) is the siyah consider safe kernel?
thanks
i apreciate your help.

Frist root your phone, everything will be explained in the thread. Check FAQ
If you don't know what you are doing, don't flash siyah and stay with the kernel that gets installed when flashing the rom you want.
Flash a custom kernel with Odin. Another Siyah kernel than v6 will do, just check the changelog.
You will have root, CWM and you're able to flash custom roms. You can choose to try other kernels than the one that comes with a rom, but it's not a must.
And the person above is right: If you don't fully understand all this, try to learn a little bit more. It will prevent you from doing something wrong.
Good luck.

[Q] How to root the latest GT-I9100 official rom (Spain Jan2014 I9100XWMS3)?

Hi,
I'm running the latest Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100) rom (Spain Jan2014 I9100XWMS3).
Previously I was using the Siyah kernel v6.0beta5, but even with a slightly older rom it stopped working (the phone wasn't rooted).
I don't want to use a heavily customized kernel. I just want my phone to be rooted.
How could I root this rom?
Or in other words, where can I find a current rooted kernel to root this rom?
Thanks in advance,
Tom
Philz kernel.

I'd try the CF kernel recommended in the galaxys2root dot com rooting tutorial. I seem to recall using that for a few days before I swapped ROM and it worked no problem.
Thanks for all the replies!
I decided to try Framaroot, and it worked perfectly. The last exploit worked with this rom version.

5.1.1 Rom with stock kernel

Hi all
So unless CF-Root comes out for 5.1.1 (which i doubt if Chainfire is willing to do it or if it can be done), there won't be any rom with stock kernel which will be rooted from the beginning, right?
Thanks
this will never happen again..also if cf root comes again..Samsung changed the security and the changed things in the kernel is the only way for normal root..
