Choosing A Tablet - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking to purchase a tablet. I want to run emulators, read books, listen to music. It also needs to be able to support sixaxis or usb api host. What would you recommend to purchase?

Acer Iconia A100

For a good choice is Asus Transforme Prime, but it is a shame that the internal gps doesn't work without the new attachment.

The transformer prime is your best bey

I have the original transformer TF101, it can do all of that easily. emulates most n64/other games well, sixaxis and wiimote both work flawlessly. HDMI output to play/watch stuff on TV.
just in case you wanted a cheaper option, i heard it's cheap now. i would still recommend the prime if you don't mind paying.

Asus Transforme Prime

i want to buy this tablet

I want to buy the prime but I heard that have a wifi problem and GPS i dont know what to do .
I need your help.
Buy the prime or wait for transformer 3(or other new tablets?)
What to do?
now I have transformer TF101
You should work on your English skills or offer it in multiple languages.
Choose what you want: Transformer 16GB, Transformer 32GB, Transformer Prime 32GB, or Transformer Prime 64GB. Find a store that carries it, online or locally, buy it. There are separate docks for the Transformer and Transformer Prime and you will need the correct dock; the GB's don't matter to the dock.

i am sorry i wrote this from my cell-phone very fast
i want transformer prime 32G but worth it to buy it without the keyboard and sell my first transfomer with keyboard
You should wait bro
think for your self.. why let others tell you want you want and don't want.. won't go far in life if you let everyone tell you what to do..
Now go to work..
The Prime is nice but GPS doesn't work while moving fast. If you like a sturdy metal body then get the TF201. If you want GPS, don't care about metal body and want the higher display then wait and get the TF700 (or whatever it is).
Very easy.
i neeed for home dont for fast moving

Don't by ASUS. Get Samsung GT 10.1 and you will be happy. or better yet get Apple Ipad2 and you will be amazed. ASUS TP has too many issues.

Is Prime best tablet?

I want a tablet but not sure how much use it'll get. Will the prime play xvid & avi files? Does it have HDMI out of the box or requires a dongle? Compared with what's about at moment and what's coming out this qtr the prime looks best of them. I have never used apple products but understand ipads are limited to playing iTunes stuff? Or for same money as prime should I get a i5 blu ray playing laptop? Thanks if you can help.

The answer is yes. It is easily the fastest, thinnest, tablet on the market right now. For it's price it is very affordable and ICS makes the tablet experience better.
Keep in mind it's not perfect, there's a force close here - a random reboot there. A vocal minority have had wifi & gps issues. My wifi is fine, my gps appears to work (although I barely use it enough to testify). Battery life is average considering the speed/preformance the tablet has.
The keyboard dock is the selling point over every other tablet out there right now. USB, additional battery life, full sized sd (don't forget the microsd on the tablet), and a decently sized chiclet keyboard that I'm typing this very message on.
HDMI works out of the box, assuming you have the appropriate cables to connect to it. Keep in mind it's mini hdmi. Most video formats are supported (no wmv), the dice player app plays them quite well.
No buyer's remourse here, I'm very proud of to own this tablet. Ipads do require everything to be installed through itunes, and you may have to purchase different copies of apps for many iphone apps you bought if you want them on the ipad. Android gives you the app for all your devices with a singe purchase and you have 15 minutes to request a refund if there are any initial problems. Transfering files is as simple as droping them on a flash drive, and box/dropbox work just as well as icloud. Also 3rd party apps can be installed through checking an option in the settings menu - no need to jailbreak.
YES..next question..lol
t3rm3y - is the prime the best tablet?
TFP fanboi - Hell yah it is the best tablet
Plays anything you throw at it and has HDMI out. Keyboard dock is a must imo, if you want to get its full potential.
if my opinion is taken into consideration...which it always is (im kinda full of myself ATM)
YES it is the best tablet on the market right now
Yes among Android tablets so far.

Sweet Evo!!
I have had so many issues with my Transformer Prime to the point I would recommend someone shopping for an non-iPad tablet to go with the Samsung Galaxy Tab. It's hardware is solid, it's built free of physical design defects and it's NOT using an over hyped yet immensely buggy Android 4.0 ice cream sandwhich OS.
Just make sure that when you are not sitting right next to the router you bring a beer can/aluminum foil/cut open the Prime so the wifi doesn't become unusable.
The Galaxy Tab 7.7 is a very strong tablet.
Thanks everyone. Thats all good to hear... regarding the Samsung option.. I don't think it has HDMI out so I can't watch my files on the TV??

For me it is, others may disagree!
Go for it,if you don't like it, you can always return it.
I have the Prime and in the UK I'd say, for the money. it is the best tablet you can buy. In the UK we get it with a keyboard dock (I haven't seen the option to buy without unless you get a US version?) for £500. It has mini HDMI built into the tablet itself, can accept 64GB micro SDXC cards in the tablet and the dock has room for standard SD cards up to 64GB as well as a USB port for memory sticks, HDD's, wired contollers etc etc
Even though it plays alot out of the box I purchased Dice player for movies and prefer to use that.
Some THD games come with 3d stereo compatibility and when connected to a 3d tv atomatically switch to 3d.
A wireless PS3 pad works via bluetooth (once paired) for gaming whilst linked to a tv with an app called sixaxis useful when games don't support game pads.
As you can tell, even with one or two niggles, I am very happy with this Prime and use it more than my desktop pc atm. I even purchased Splashtop THD to access my pc (great for music, films and some games) from my tablet anywhere.

[Q] Logitech Rumblepad2 with the transformer prime?

Does anybody know whether it's possible to get a Logitech Rumblepad 2 to work with the Transformer Prime?
Just connect with dock and use the USB port in your dock
Cordless version works ok with prime...
Does not work thus far. I am not so sure why. Just rooted the device ... saw some apps online to see whether I can get it working. Rumblepad2 is not bluetooth capable.
*rooted* asus TF201

[Q] asus transformer prime t201 wifi issue/jellybean

Asus makes usb wifi sticks can't they make one for our prime tablets to fix wifi issues. it's just a suggestion. Also can Asus confirm jellybean to the t201 users that have bought this tablet as being worlds first tegra 3 device.
They could...

It would be possible but then you have the same issue people had with the GPS dongle. They would think it's ugly. Also it probably wouldn't be very cheap.
As for jelly bean I have no idea.

If you have a Prime with bad WiFi, either exchange it at the store you bought it from or RMA it with Asus. Asus has been pretty good about exchanging Prime's that experience bad WiFi.
There is no point to making a "work-around" product to deal with an issue that only a certain segment of Prime users are experiencing. It is better to just get a Prime that works as it should.

Best Game Controllers

Hi,
I thought when the prime said supports gamepads, this would pretty much mean all usb gamepads, but that isn't the case - I bought a ps3 looking pad from amazon which does not work at all in the prime but is perfect in ps3.
Question is: What gamepad do you use and how is the compatibility?
This thread is basically to get a list of gamepads that work and don't so that anyone getting a new pad knows the best ones to get.
Personally I have found the PS3 pad plugged in to be the best so far but I dont have many to try so could be way off. Comments and suggestions below.
Thanks
I've seen a couple of threads on this in Accesories section (where I guess this would belong to). I have a Logitech controller that I use with FPSE and some android games and it works flawlessly, but I'm swapping to a ps3 controller for bluetooth connection and touchscreen mapping.
