I used Titanium Backup to freeze some applications (the ones "shipped") on a Motorola XT311.
Then I restored factory settings, but the fronzen applications remained frozen. I cannot see them any more, not event Titanium Backup can.
What can I do? I need the on screen keyboard that came with the phone...
I was facing exactly same issue last week when I froze system app Music 1.2

My apps do not appear in titanium as frozen. They are nowhere to be found.

I know there are a few threads related to this issue, but I don't feel that my situation fits into any of the ones discussed.
So after I flashed to the KE2 firmware for O2 phones (mine was PAYG), I started getting 'android.process.acore has stopped working unexpectedly' whenever I clicked on the 'history' tab of a contact. This is the only instance I've ever experienced that specific force close, and I can only reproduce it if I click on the history tab.
My phone is rooted, with typical root-related programs such as RootExplorer, Titanium Backup, JuiceDefender Ultimate, Lookout Security, AdFree. I'm running Touchwiz without any substantial modifications aside from some normal widgets.
I have frozen a few programs using Titanium Backup, but these were all from a list of supposedly 'safe to remove' programs listed here: http://samsunggalaxysforums.com/showthread.php/4811-Safe-to-remove-applications-list
I've already done flashed firmwares 2-3 times and factory reset my phone once due to a reboot loop. Everything else seems to be running perfectly.
Does anyone know what may be causing this, for example a system file I shouldn't have frozen etc? This isn't a huge problem at the moment since I don't really use the history tab at all, but I'm afraid this might have bigger repercussions if I don't figure out what is wrong with my phone.
Factory reset or reflash normal method of fixing .

I found out what was wrong.
I had frozen a service called 'LogsProvider 1.0' using Titanium Backup. Defrosting it solved the problem, and I no longer have any force closes.
I'd therefore like to reiterate that freezing LogsProvider 1.0 will cause force closes if you attempt to view the History tab of your contacts (and possibly other unconfirmed actions).
Thanks for the suggestion anyway, jje.
I'm new to the Android thing and even more new to the switching ROM's on a daily basis based on my mood when I wake up. Here's my question. When updating a ROM and wiping the device what do you use/do to ensure you don't have to spend a day to recover your device back to where it was. App icon locations, widgets configurations, etc...
Hi. Im pretty new to Android as well so I can tell you what I do. Now this doesnt mean its correct. I usually make a backup with Titanium Back up. Also before I do anything major I also run a backup with CWM (think thats what its called). This way I can always go back to the previous state.
Titanium Backup for restoring apps
Call Logs Backup and Restore for, well... that one should be self explanatory
Same for SMS Backup and Restore
Restoring system settings and launcher layout is a ***** if you use the stock launcher - a third-party launcher such as LauncherPro can have its settings backed up with TiBu and restored. Some even have their own backup/restore functions.

Thanks. I was using Go Launcher but it was flaking out regularly. Locker wasn't working, kept prompting when going to the home screen asking for if I wanted to use Go Launcher etc. Finally got rid of it because things were wonky with it. I guess I"m just stuck doing the whole reinstalling all apps and rebuilding my 'ui' whenever I do wipe.
The only thing that I have yet to find a backup/restore for is MMS.
Yes there is ways to actually save the pictures and have them in Gmail but no way of restoring it back into the conversation.
I have an HTC Desire Z, and it's been acting strangely lately. I hear it play the startup sound when it's in my pocket, meaning the phone has crashed when I wasn't even doing anything. I suppose it's time for a hard reset. I'm very reluctant to do this, but when I missed an important call the other day because my "com.htc.phone" (or whatever) application crashed and I didn't notice, that was the last straw.
What is a checklist of things I should do before hard resetting? So far, I've:
1) Backed up SMS
2) Taken screenshots of all my home screens so as to put the icons back in the same place
3) Taken screenshots of the application settings screens so as to install all the same applications again
4) Taken screenshots of some of the other settings screens, so as to use the same ringtone, background, SMS beep, etc.
What are some other steps I should take? I'm scared that I won't get my phone set up the same way again. My phone is great right now, it's just how I like it - except for the crashes.
Is your phone rooted? If so, TitaniumBackup (TB) would be all you need. You can get TitaniumBackup, free and paid, from the market. TB can backup your screen settings according to the launcher apps. For example, I use Go Launcher and when I do a full backup of Go Launcher, it will backup icons positions and everything else that I have changed in Go Launcher.
It may not be necessary to reset your whole device if your just getting one or two processes force closing themselves. The first thing to check is see if you have installed an app that might be conflicting with system apps (try and remember the last time it was working correctly and uninstall apps that you've installed since then).
If this isn't the issue you can also try to wipe app data/cache for the app in question. I hope this makes sense
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
Well, I'm not really sure what's causing the problem. My phone came installed with crapware, and lately I've found software installing itself on my phone without my knowledge. I know for a fact the "QQ Security" crapware the phone came with did indeed prevent my phone from functioning correctly.
Hi,
I had a weird problem with an app (The Times and The Sunday Times) on my Xperia Z2 Tablet yesterday. Although I managed to fix it eventually, I was wondering if anyone might be able to shed some light on what happened.
The tablet had been repaired under warranty. Before I sent it off, I did a full Titanium backup, unrooted, and reset to factory defaults. As part of the repair, Sony updated the firmware from 17.1.1.A.0.402 to 17.1.2.A.0.314 (17.1.2.A.0.314 was released whilst it was out for repair). Both firmwares are based on Android 4.4.2.
I reinstalled all my user apps (not system apps) by restoring a Titanium backup, after which the The Times and The Sunday Times app was working. I used it several times, then yesterday it froze when loading. Killing the app from the recents and opening it again didn't work; this time it wouldn't load (the icon on the Nova Launcher desktop glowed for a few seconds, then nothing happened).
I then tried the following, killing the app from the recents menu before each attempt:
Clearing the app's cache.
Clearing the app's data.
Uninstalling the app and reinstalling.
Uninstalling the app, searching the entire device for the app name using solid explorer (rooted), removing any left over files, and reinstalling the app.
Uninstalling the app, running SD maid, and reinstalling the app.
Rebooting the device.
Still no luck. each time, the app icon would glow when i tapped it, the app would appear in my recent apps list as a black rectangle, but no matter how long I left it (several hours at one point), it just wouldn't load.
In desperation, I restored the app's Titanium backup with data, and it (sort of) worked. The app loaded, and allowed me to log in again (as if I'd just done a fresh install, or restored the app without data).
The weird thing is that the app has not been updated since I made the backup, so the backup version is the same as the version on the Play Store.
Does anyone know why restoring the Titanium backup would work where the troubleshooting steps I took above didn't? Is it possible that the app's data got given some weird permissions at some point that only Titanium, running as root, could sort out?
Thank you in advance!
Looking at the logcat might offer some insights into why it was not launching.
An educated guess would be that TiBu restored/overwrote a file that the other apps/system did not find and wipe and the app itself corrupts a file when launching and only restoring a working one from your backup fixed it.
If you find out what file that is, SD Maid could be updated to cover that and if it's reproduceable, you could also write the dev of the app instruction how to reproduce the issue so he can fix it.
Of course there is always the option that the server/connection was bad and it hang because of that.
Hello have searched high and low and decided to ask in the end. Been using titanium backup without any issues and moving from one phone to another. I recently made a backup on my Asus zenfone 2 and tried to use that backup of titanium onto my galaxy note 4 running 5.1.1. However the app restores some apps but hangs some. Unfortunately the one it hangs are the ones I cannot do without. Anyone else had this issue and if so how did you sort it out please?
I've had this before. Often I can get around it when just restoring one by one or a few at a time because this happens most often to me when restoring a large batch of apps. Another thing you can try is in the Preferences, at the bottom, in the Troubleshooting section, there are a couple of other kinds of restoration options available.
