I saw on Samsung phones that they have in Notification bar icons like Bluetooth, Wifi, GPS... is there app for my Xperia Mini(ST15i) so i can have the same? My phone isn't rooted and i don't want to root him because its under warranty. Thanks
There's no app like that unless you root.
Wait for ICS, it should include these.

Yes, it does because rooting is taken as modifying official firmware.

no need for root with the app I mentioned and it works just like Samsung's touchjiz interface with a bunch of a toggles on each row.

no, SE stock ICS doesn't have quick toggles.
and rooting does not voids warranty.
and also P.S.- your phone can't be xperia live, either its of xperia series or live with walkman.

Live with Walkman is part of Xperia series, so actually Xperia Live is not incorrect.
Rooting DOES void warranty, because you are modifying the firmware in a unofficial way, which is provided by manufacturer.
Would you like, if someone goes modifying something made by you without your permission? It's the same about rooting.
By some shops/operators/manufacturers it can be that warranty stays, even though it is not confirmed.
I had my phone rooted and took it to service center as it had some hardware problem. they checked my phone and told me that my phone is rooted but with locked bootloader so they will give me a new handset(as it happened within 30 days from buying) which they did.
My friend has same phone, we unlocked and relocked the bootloader but they didn't give warranty.
Depends on Country and shop or service provider about warranty, i bought phone on my service provider and i've been warned if i root my phone i will lose warranty. bbop THANK A LOT! <3

I have replaced my rooted phone from SE service center and yes, they knew it was rooted.
any unofficial way to root your phone does not voids warranty but if you use official way (i.e. unlocking bootloader and flashing custom prerooted kernels) voids warranty.

Hi guys im new here
i have rooted my lww 2.3.4 .62 by downgrading to .58.
How update again to frmware .62.with root access because lww already have ics update?
My freind had rooted neo v 4 months old with bootloader locked. He has issue with the speaker .so he want to take it to sony service centre for repair.but i think rooting void warranty?
Will unrooting return warranty status back?
And how to sony service centre guys know that we have rooted our phone even though if we unroot?
How to solve this issue to get warranty back?
Pleaaaase helpppppp guyyyssssssssssssss
well if were worried about warranty, you shouldnt have rooted it. people say that unrooting works, but then again, sony has professional engineers to take care of its phones, and sort out the issues you face. they would naturally know the "tricks" that developers can do. so its unlikely that people at service center cant know what you've done with it.

1) If you update to ICS, you'll lose root unless you follow THIS tutorial.
2) Repair the phone with PC Companion. This will erase root. Keep in mind that if you installed CWM Recovery you could mess up while repairing with PC Companion as long as I know. In that case, you should flash new firmware with flashtool.

2. I red i can use this method with locked bootloader - right or not?
3. If i root my phone, can i still make official updates if there are any from Sony?
4. Is warranty avoid by this method? If yes can be the phone unrooted so you return warranty?

2. Loose warranty

Sony's website clearly states in capital that
Unlocking ur botlotloader will void ur warranty
And its not like u do anything u retain the warranty jz by flashing any official rom and relocking bootloader
Si number of the software needs to match wid hardware
And if checked ( hardly takes anything to check) will indicate software tempering and a voided warranty
Sent from my ST25i using Forum Runner
Nope, because you can relock it your warranty won't be voided
Also if you keep it unlocked, you will only lose warranty on software, not on hardware.
I have had 3 Sony phones (2 se 1 Sony) I develop on all of them, returned them for warranty like 15 times and never had any issues.
Si number Is only for updates not for warranty, imei is for warranty.
I know all of this, because of my contact by Sony Holland and Sony united States

It says unlocking may void warranty.
This is what Sony UK told me:
Hi #####, validating the warranty of a handset once the bootloader has been unlocked is done on a case by case basis which is why we are unable to say for definite whether or not the warranty would be voided by doing this.
However, unlocking the bootloader is usually done to load custom roms and unofficial software which does void the warranty in most cases.

when i flash kernels during rooting process is any effect for warranty? that means Sony people can trace it?
Hello everyone..
After using ics in my xperia u, I felt its pretty laggy...
So im thinking of unlocking the bootloader..my only doubt is whether after unlocking the bootloader, I completely lose warranty or not..
Does relocking the bootloader restore the warranty or not?..ive seen that for unlocking bootloader, a code is needed which involves provision of Imei no., so does sony store the details in their servers about which phone's bootloader has been unlocked?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Cheers..:good:
If you unlocked your bootloader, your warranty completely gone. If you know how to relock your bootloader back, then your warranty will restore back if the Sony service centre does not know you unlock bootloader.... unlocking boot loader needs your imei number so they can give you the bootloader code... sorry, my explanation very messy!!! Hope you understand it!!!

I guess this is relevant...
I unlocked the bootloader of my Xperia Neo in order to install custom roms / kernels. Later I noticed that my screen had some objects burnt in it (most likely due to excess heat).
I reverted to stock firmware, relocked the bootloader and sent the phone for warranty repair. They replaced the screen and the touch panel, no questions asked.
In my case, there were no problems with the warranty despite the previously unlocked bootloader. Note that the situation might not be the same for you (different problem, repair staff etc).
In other words, there is a chance that unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty of your phone. It is up to you to decide whether it is worth the risk.

Yeah, that could be the case but I'm not 100% sure: according to Xperia Blog, Sony has refused to repair some phones with unlocked (or relocked) bootloaders (http://www.xperiablog.net/2012/07/25/sony-refusing-hardware-repairs-on-handsets-with-unlocked-bootloaders.

Yes there are traces left behind if you unlock and relock your bootloader-its the DRM keys. They are lost forever once you unlock your bootloader and even if you relock your bootloader, they won't get back.
And if a service center checks for DRM keys, then they'll surely know that the bootloader has been unlocked and you cannot invoke your warranty.
Does testpoint method work on 2012 models? Bcoz that method unlocks BL without loss of DRM keys.
Guide says it works on 2011 models, but doesn't look updated. And anyhow phones with fixed battery will not be able to use it anyhow.

It doesn't matter you officially unlocked your bootloader or not. You can relock it by flashing that .FTF file by flashtool containing loader file and regain access to sony services, only trackid isn't working after relocking the bootloader. you can also fix that by installing walkman mod with DRM files provided by ThilinaC..

i don't know will you get back your warranty or not if you have shown your phone at service center in UNLOCKED bootloader state, may be sony registers your IMEI for out of warranty but if you havn't shown your phone to service center in unlocked state then of course you will get back your phone's warranty. I tried this on my LWW and hence saying this with personal experience.

As far as I know, you won't get back your warranty.
1) they ask for your IMEI number while you are unlocking bootloader only, and I suppose this is for tracking purpose
2) when I was unlocking my devices bootloader, I had read in the faq section of the guide that it's not possible to get back warranty because even if you lock the bootloader again, bootloader status will be shown as re-locked (not "locked" as it originally was) so the Sony people will know you've messed around with your phone

1. They ask your IMEI not for tracking, its for generating unique unlock code of your device.
2. Where did you see your bootloader status as RE-LOCKED, as far as i know after relocking, flashtool says "Bootloader status: Rootable" not relocked and if you see in phone's service menu(*#*#7378423#*#*), it shows "Bootloader unlock allowed : Yes"
and i had given my phone on service center for some hardware issue after relocking BL and was solved.
