I have a gt-i9100 galaxy with ics 4.0.4 ... When i first bought it (2.3.6), inside the manual it said it has NFC chip (but i never found nor the application nor the toggle in settings to enable it). But when i found a mod for 4.0.4 to put it enable it (here on xda), after the reboot the Android kept saying "The Nfc application stopped working". It also made my phone stuck every 3.5 seconds and when i whent to settings to shutdown the NFC the toggle wasn't there. So my question is this (i just point my problem so you can understand a bit more) "Does the gt-i9100 has NFC and doesn't working for the moment in 4.0.4 ,does the mod itself is problematic or is for earlier versions of android, or the gt-i9100, Korean edition, actually have NFC ....
no, the i9100 variant will not, however a NFC enabled MicroSD card may be released to support NFC
this is what this FAQ thread says : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046748
Yes it does mine is UK on 02 it will say on your battery nfc enabled have a look also mine says it on the back cover as well will post pic in a bit

ok thanks, .... mine doesn't have either of those .... so here my last question ........ WHY the f***k ,in the instructions, says that it has ?! It doesn't make sense !
You have ICS 4.04 ???
jje
I have bought another battery for my GT-I9100 .
The battery has the writing over it "near field communication"
I also found this page on XDA developers implying that there are some Korean variants with nfc
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_II/GT-I9100
Only thing i have android 2.3.5 that doesn't support NFC ... so i can't prove any
point.
I want to upgrade to ICS (Which support NFC) but i want to make a rom backup
first .
And i don't want to download ODIN from "strange" sources .
But i have a feeling that i have been screwed with this NFC thing . So many things to check in the smartphone when you bought it .....
I have to share with you ... i was trying to log in to xda-developers for ages and i couldn't. So now its my first post here .
I know this is an old thread but we have the i9100 and are wondering is there a way to check as ours are second hand phone so prob don't have original batteries etc.

Any idea as to why this happens? I I'm on stock firmware LFB just rooted
Sent from my GT-I9300
Just means it's not an S3 code like most on that list you probably read.
Are you sure, but this is the code to check your uock status
Sent from my GT-I9300
worked for me
I am not sure what this code does.
I checked this code, and got,
Personalizatiob Status - not sure if it has to be Personalization.
Network Lock
[OFF]
etc..
I am on Stock ROM.
This why I'm a bit concerned I'm just using a stock Rom just rooted and the code doesn't work any ideas. I my phone did come with a branded rkm from three UK but I flashed it with a unbranded stock Rom
Sent from my GT-I9300
First why that code ??? Samsung give it to you or is it the usual secret codes poster where the codes are plain wrong .
jje
EGAN is right.most of these "secret"codes are taking from gs2 forum and usually ppl just assume they work and in some regions they do,some they don't.
We need someone find the codes specific to gs3
this code is used to check network lock status etc it is working on most of the samsung phones.
it was working on GSIII on le8 stock(atleast on my phone), after updating to latest one its not working anymore.
the message you are getting is because u have pressed green button(call)
normally when u enter those codes all u have to do i put # and the result will be displayed.
This code is not working on GSIII with firmware higher than LE8.
Ok i managed to check on SGS3 firmware later than LE8 and it works .
But i repeat many of the secret codes posts are a total secret and don't actually work and the poster never tested them .

I can confirm that code *#7465625# doesn't work on my Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300, Android 4.1.2, Kernel 3.0.31). And I don't have other network micro SIM to check if it is locked or not.

Yes I do and 8 months is not 8 years, people still can find this thread. So it might save somebody's time to go straight to that thread explaining why:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1712518
you brought no new information to the thread
I have looked everywhere for an answer but have found nothing. I can use my phone just fine until it completely freezes. I am left with no option but to take the battery out and restart and come back to a low battery that went from roughly 80% to 10%. I have no clue what to do. I'm not sure if i need to wipe and format. Can anyone give me some advice? If it's a case of having to wipe, can I have details on how to do this without losing information?
Thanks
Attached is my phone system info:

I can't see the picture (don't know if it's just me), but on what rom/kernel are you? And do you UC/UV?

My kernal version is too long to understand. I'll try and upload pic again. Im on android 4.0.4 and just before this reply i had to restart phone again!!! I don't know what you mean by UC/UV.

i think you have the original firmware, try to install the newest firmware LSJ you can get this at sammobile.com or you can choose a custom rom which you can find here

Yeah, you're on an official rom, and since you don't know what it means, I assume you don't underclock (UC) and/or undervolt (UV)
Ever considered rooting and flashing a custom rom? Or, like stated above me, flash some other official firmware through Odin to see if the problems still excist (except someone else has another sollution).

u got 2 options :
1.spend the rest of ur life trying to figure out wats causing the freezing to this retarded android system AND never find an answer
2.save ur time, money and efort and do ur self a favour : buy a real smart phone that works and does all it promises .... buy an iPhone

Does the IMEI and serial number in settings, about, status match what is written under your battery?
If either is wrong or blank then search Q&A for possible solutions.

Probably, it can be the SIMcard... Have you tried another SIM? Take your SIM out of the SIII and clean the golden chip on the SIM... You can although try to clean the SIMcontroller on the SIII where you plug in the SIM....
If it doesn't work, have you flashed a i9305 ROM? It can break you SIMreader...
Greetings...

DONE
Yes, you can flash it, but you'll lose NFC functionality, but you can enable it again after the flashing process.
Right now I'm doing a tutorial about how to instal CWM+CM10.1+NFC. When it's finished I'll tell you. Bye
PS: Anyway, flash everything like you had a I9100. It will work, but without NFC. You can fix it searching NFC PATCH in the forum search

There's an image of my GT-I9100P. Like you can see, my phone says that is a GT-I9100, but that's not true. Also, I installed a patch to get my NFC working:

Yes you can just buy the camera part & assemble (If you're confident!)
Just search ebay or amazon "galaxy s2 camera" in parts!!
Here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_o...a+&_nkw=samsung+galaxy+s2+camera&_sacat=43304
Best to replace lens cover as well while you're at it (only few squid!!) to be on the safe side!
I'm surprised you asked here first before looking for part!?
THANKS!!
btw, im asking here since trying googling it with the result is something different from the one i want...
btw, are the i9100 and i9100G camera the same? no firmware clash?
and do you think that this is sold in stores(phone, electronic)?

As far as I know camera's are same, not sure where you'd find a store that sold this part??, as I'm not from your part of the globe, I'm in UK!
ok, gotta stick with ebay then...
thanks for the reply though~
