Mine displays Arabic out of the box...
Edit: Wait, I take that back. It displays the characters but in right to left, rather than left to right as they should be.
The letters need to be connected too.
any arabic for this
arabic support
Go to the market and look for Arabic browser, its the second one, its a patch you can apply it in your phone, you phone has to be root.
Any Arabic for this yet that i could flash with odin???

Thank you, I rooted my phone and tried the Arabic browser, finally I can read Arabic on my note I717.
Also, if you want to be able to type in Arabic, SwiftKey X supports it and a long list of other languages. I use it for typing things in German. Sadly you just missed the 49 cent sale that was going on.

until we get a real solution you can use Opera mini which i am using now and it displays arabic pages correctly. i think normal Opera will work too but i haven't tried it.
for the keyboard i am using miltiling keyboard, it is free and support arabic. it will allow you to type in arabic and there is an option to make it connect the letters for you but it may not display correctly for iphone users (which we don't care for anyway lol)
Here is a test using that keyboard:
ﺍﺧﺘﺒﺎﺭ ﺍﻟﻜﺘﺎﺑﺔ ﺑﺎﻟﻌﺮﺑﻲ ﻓﻲ ﺟﻬﺎﺯ ﻗﺎﻟﻜﺴﻲ ﻧﻮﺕ ﻏﻴﺮ ﻣﻌﺮﺏ
sent from my Galaxy Note (stock rom, and not rooted yet)
Ok, i got a solution. not very straight forward but it works. and you need "root"
There are two solutions:
1- The first thing you need to do is deodex your rom or get one that is already deodexed like TPC rom here
Then use the patching script made by madmack from here
This script should patch these files:
framework.jar
libandroid_runtime.so
libicuuc-arabic.so
libwebcore.so
which will fix Arabic for every thing, i used the latest patcher 0.907 which now works for the Galaxy Note.
anyway, you can copy these files over to your phone "fix the user owner and permission" or use the zip file that was also generated by the patching script and flash it using CWM recovery. I attached the file i generated using my stock and deodexed rom it should work for you as well if you have the same phone and same rom (Stock 2.3.6).
Reboot and clean the cache and dalvik cache.
Now browser, gmail, twitter, whatsapp, facebook...etc should show the arabic correctly.
2- Fixing the browser and gmail only: this is easier and doesn't need deodex (since it patches lib files only) but it still need root and will not fix twitter, whatsapp and the other applications.
This fix also uses madmack patch.
The fix is here
or you can go directly to the android market "Google Play" and install the patcher, it is very easy and will patch the file with a single click from your phone
Thanks to madmack and brightidea and anyone who made this possible.
This is for AT&T Galaxy Note only (i717) (2.3.6) the same process should work for other phones as well, but the attached files will only work with this phone.
Thanks for all the info man. Have you tested this method thoroughly? No bugs or errors here or there? I'm still considering whether I should get it now or wait till ICS then look for a solution after that lol

My phone runs great since then, btw this patching method is not new and has been tested before on so many phones, i was using it with my old Nexus S, I also did a similar thing two days ago to arabize a Galaxy S II and that one works great too.

1- What ROM are you running now on your phone?
2- Is it deodex?
3- Have you installed a recovery tool other than the default? (like CWM, or TWRP)
* if you don't know what these means then i would recommend that you search for those terms and learn about them before you start doing stuff to your phone or you might end up with a bricked device.

1- I am not running any ROM except when I open ROM manager
I have this called Flash ClockworkMod Recovery above (reboot into recovery)
when I click on it, it shows list of phone types such as (commtiva Z71, Dell Streak, Geeksphone ONE, Samsung Epic4G, Samsung galaxy i9000, Samsung T-mobile Galaxy s2.........etc)
2- I have no clue what deodex is but I think not.
3- I honestly did not install any of these recovery.
Yes I have no idea about those terms and I wish someone can do a video to install arabic from scratch on Youtube. I have looked around but I couldn't find anything for Samsung Galaxy note I717 AT&T.
I appreciate your comments here fduraibi

Hello all,
After rooting my Samsung Galaxy SII (Resurection remix) there was no notes-app on my phone anymore. Also all my notes disappeared when I checked the files using PC/ File explorer. I couldn't find the location of them in my mapstructure. Does anyone know a way to recover/ find these notes since there are some very important ones I really need.
I saw a post like this last year but no one seemed to know the answer...
Thnx!
I'm struggling to read between the lines here, but have you come from a stock Samsung ROM to an AOSP ROM in the process of "rooting"? If so, you won't have Samsung's Memo app anymore which would have stored its data in /dada/data/com.sec.android.app.memo/databases/Memo.db
It would be contained within any nandroid backup.
About the ROM-thing: Yes, that is correct. It's now an AOSP ROM. I'm pretty noob, as you can see, so don't do these things very often
Also the map you described is not on my phone anymore. The app I used is:
"app backup & restore". For some reason the note files are the only ones which are gone.
it seems that Flash, for me, is malfunctioning. If I enter just any website which has flash content, it always tells me I need Flash Player to view that content. I know Adobe said they'd drop the android support, but it was my understanding that Samsung still would include Flash in their Jellybean update? I even tried installing a Flash apk I know works, but neither the stock web browser nor Chrome picks it up.
Chrome does not pick it up since it's unable of using extensions.
Are you sure you included a complete APK (best results are from ones exported from ICS-phone)
Try an APK from this forum, you should find several uploaders.
Flash works flawlessly on stock Browser in Jelly Bean
IIRC, the .apk I've been using came from the Nexus 7 forums and was said to work witg Jellybean. I'll scout the themes and apps section and see if there's one which works.
EDIT: By the way, does it matter if the .apk is installed as a user app or system app?
Hi - We have two Galaxy I9100 S2's - both are Unlocked, Rooted, and running Jellybean 4.1.2 I9100XWLSD_I9100OXXLS6_I9100XXLS8_NEE (the Nordic build)
I visited a web site in the stock browser that required Flash, and discovered that Flash is no longer available from Google Play
I found that Flash will work on JB, if you side-load the .apk
So, I download Flash from http://d-h.st/x4v, installed it, re-visited the web site, and the Flash video played ok in my browser :good:
Problem is, after following the same procedure on my wife's phone, her phone will still not play the video
I've tried re-downloading the .apk, also copying the .apk from my phone using WiFi-Direct
Any ideas why it works on one phone and not on the other ?

Don't know which version you used, but try this one.
Thanks - won't be able to try it until tonight though
Once I got my hands on her phone, I noticed that she'd increased the default font size, and also activated the browser's Incognito mode
I un-did those two settings, and installed your Flash .apk,
and it's working now :good:
-Thanks
Hi, I am searching the site for an hours how to install custom ROM on my Tab.
I didn't get anywhere because I can't get the proper instructions.
So the tab is Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, model P7500. The tab hasn't got SD Card slot.
Maybe can you help me, what programs I need to install custom ROM via computer? And some instructions, and if you know some other good ROM for this Tab. I'm trying to install the Overcome, but as I sad no results.
Thanks.
GT P7500
There are some ROMs available here on XDA for the P7500 series tablet. However I don't like a single one of them because they're highly unstable. You can root it then flash in a recovery and then, like myself, either wait for someone to make a stable ROM or it's possible to make one. No, the GT-P700 does not have an sd card slot available and there were people working on that but I've heard of no results. But if you wish to develop your device the files that you wish to use go on a new folder you create labled "0" (that's a zero). I still use my Gt-P7510 Wifi and I may be of assistance if needed but I'm not here that often because of my job.
This is the page you may be looking for and from there you can develop your device however suits you.

Go here to get instructions on Rooting, https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239185
I would suggest using one of Defcafs ROMs for this device, like this one, https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-10-1/development/rom-android-7-0-nougat-t3471350
Good luck and welcome aboard XDA.
You do not need an SD card to install a custom ROM. Use ODIN to flash the ROM. It won't take more than two minutes. Good luck.
