I just read on the Sony Developer site that the ICS update will not be available for those with an unlocked bootlader WTF ?
"Also, if you unlock the boot loader, you will not be able to download and install the final Ice Cream Sandwich software upgrade for Xperia™ phones."
Just look for the article "ICS beta ROM now available for unlocked Xperia™ PLAY smartphones" .. it's about 3/4 down the page :?(
Good thing I unlocked via Testpoint method...
I think it could be possible that SEUS or PC Companion are checking IMEI, if the phone was unlocked via Sony...
simple relock won't do it I guess :/
But don't worry, a few days after our devs will come up with a flashable generic and prerooted rom

That is because DRM keys are lost, which are needed to use PC Companion and Update Service to update phone firmware.
It is not sure, if relocking will do the deal or not, as least not before it is released.
Relocking with Flashtool will definitely work & also if yhu unlock BL via Testpoint Method den yhu can update via SEUS, PCC!
Dude, didn't you read when unlocking bootloader? its written in big red fonts on bootloader unlock page that you will not get further updates after unlocking.
Officially, the bootloader can only be unlocked, that's why the warning with red letters.
Unofficially, it is possible to relock the bootloader and after that it's possible to update software again. I tested it multiple times.
The only thing You loose permanently is the DRM. Cheers!

i have just bought new phone don't want to loose warranty as early as possible may be later i may dare to unlock it
i love developers who makes world look better place.. i am frequent visitor of xda from my first windows mobile since 3-4years ..
but i had very bad experience with z71 android handset which gave me lot of pain but i made full use of warranty period because there was no unlocking ..! just flashing lots of custom roms ..
but xperia is different i think i have to gain more confidence to start flashing.. because there will be no warranty once unlocked...
When you feel confident, you can Unlock you device by any method you prefer, follow the guide by following link,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409269
P.S, using official method to unlock the boot loader, you will void your warranty, but using XDA method you will have option to relock the boot loader again
Hope, this will help

you're welcome,
that means you are qualify to unlock your boot loader,
its not Pre-Unlocked !
if it shows No, that means you cannot unlock boot loader due to Manufacturer restrictions.
invoices presone
my phone is already rooted can i oerclock by setcpu without unlocking or do sommething etc
I think, overclocking need other then stock Kernel, check Kernels thread, which suit your overclocking need.
Hello!
My ray's bootloader is unlocked via testpoint method and now i want to re-lock it as i need to give it to service center for softkey repair.
Is it possible?
Thanks. :fingers-crossed:
first google before posting here man, if you unlocked bootloader via offical method there is a way to unlock it but if you unlocked it using testpoint method the bootloader unlock allowed says yes so technically according to sony your bootloader is locked so there is no method to relock it if you unlocked it with this method
Hope i helped

Sorry brother i searched a lot but just found a way to relock it if you unlocked it via official method, so i made a thread.
I will ask to delete it as soon as i get the answer.
So should i give it to service center just after flashing the stock rom & kernel?
You sure there is no way to re-lock..
I'm afraid as why the RESTORE button is there in s1tool?

Hi!
I've got a problem with unlocking my XPERIA U. It has Orange branded firmware, Android 2.3.7, and I'd like to change it to for example ICS. I wanted to unlock my bootloader, but I can see a message: Bootloader unlock allowed: No.
Is there any possibility to unlock it, or not? And why this phone has no possibility to do it?
Regards,
linoskoczek
Unlock = debrand? If yes, just flash stock ROM 1.54 or 1.75 with flashtool.
You can make branded ftf backup before flashing, just in case.
BTW why do u want to unlock bootloader?
Odp: [Q] Not possible to unlock phone - is there anyother method to do it?
No, you can't unlock your phone. Probably you have simlock and locked bl by operator(Orange). But you can flash fw without Orange apps etc. Just go to development section and download latest ICS fw.

Ahh that ****ty orange...
I've flashed it to ICS, but still unlocking is not possible. Anyway, do you think http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 will root the phone? It's just a one thing I can do without unlocking xperia.

I think the only thing you can't do in SXP with locked bootloader is flashing custom kernel. So, the answer is yes, you can root the phone without unlocking bootloader as well as e.g. install CWM recovery.
Do I need to unlock the bootloader if I want to downgrade to GB from ICS?
and is there any other way to unlock the bootloader without the official SONY method?

No. The only reason you have to unlock your bootloader is in case you want to install a custom kernel, otherwise there is no reason. O don't know if there is any other way to unblock bootloader except the one from Sony and honestly I think there is no reason.
To downgrade from ics to gbe you have to install flashtool on your pc and download the gb ftf file and flash it.
There is a tutorial on YouTube on how to use flashtool on arc and the way is pretty similar to st27. The only thing you have to do is find on st27 development thread the drivers and the gb Rom. Here is the YouTube tutorial

I recently rooted my Xperia P (JB 4.1.2, unlocked bootloader) using the ThP's JB_stock_autoroot.img available here.
Now when I tried to install the updates using PCC, it said that modified software installed and hence cancelled the update. Is it because of the unlocked bootloader or rooting the phone?
Cheers,
Saurav

So now if i wish to relock the bootloader keeping my phone rooted, what steps do i need to follow? I have downloaded the file LT22i_relock_bootloader.ftf which can help me relock the bootloader. Anything else that I should keep in mind before/while/after flashing this file?
Cheers,

If i am not wrong you must be on full stock (kernel and rom) and you relock. You can search around as i have not relocked my bl before as i never unlocked it.
I am back. Ignore forum signature 1st line.
You can create the FTF from PCC files
http://mytechencounters.wordpress.c...eate-an-ftf-file-of-your-xperia-ics-firmware/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2188129
I have flashed the relock file more than once without any problem.
You can root JB .100 with DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit
