So are most devs waiting for the rezounds ics ota to leak or are some working on porting ics from the sensation leak and or the nexus? I know it will be a while, but was just wondering if anyone knew anything.

I think Dmeadows started on porting the ICS leak from the Sensation but not sure if he is still working on it.
Rezound is scheduled to get the OTA update soon based on what HTC said.

We don't have a kernel to run it. You can port sensation gingerbread for example because we have a gingerbread kernel. I am also not sure how it would work out with the larger screen resolution.
Not that I talk to the devs, but I'm guessing if you want everything to be working, it's best to wait for the manufacturer to release the compatible files/drivers/etc instead of trying to hack things together because it just gets messy and nothing will work that well. I'm guessing once HTC releases the official ICS build you'll see AOSP ports shortly after.

The time has come for the dev to unleash the beast.. I for one, am goin to be ignoring my three kids, and flashing the f out my Phone...this is happening as we speak. loooooooooooooooooooooong weekend!!!
I'm excited too. I think I'm gonna hold off for a week or so just to get most of the bugs worked out. Thanks for the laugh. I have a family as well and got a chuckle out while reading your post
I did flash the newt one s ROM and loved the ics with sense 4.0 feel. I went back to mean ROM because of camera. Can't wait till we have 100% functional ics and sense 4.0. Good times!

No more bugs. Go try out the leaked Roms. Everything works. Battery life seems to be quite good too.

I was all exited because I had just put ICS on my Evo 4g. Yesterday, I see Newt has ICS with 4.0 Sense...so I figure what the heck, I'll give it a go on my Evo 3d. All the sudden the flood gates open.
It's a good day in the Evo world.
Looks i'll be too busy flashing roms to drink on cinco de mayo...my gf is gonna be so pissed this weekend...oh well

According to Myn, if you're s-off you may not need the firmware. Try without, and if you get some wonky ish, update and reflash

I cant flash this weekend, had to unroot my Evo3D to exchange it at sprint, for those who are using a full ICS rom now, was it worth it? is it much better? i hope it is. been excited for a leak for a long time!
are u more excited for the official ICS and Sense 3.6 now or lukewarm or disappointed?

Flashed without updating firmware. Just did a full wipe and factory reset. Everything working so far. I did like sense 4.0 better I must say. Only thing I havent tested is 4g because I'm still at the house on WiFi.

Yeah it's pretty nice. Some issues here and there but I'm sure the devs will fix all of that in due time.
I might take 3.6 for a spin if this next update from Newt doesn't improve my battery life much. I've loved using 4.0 but I might have to back off for a little bit because of my battery issues.
After talking with a sprint rep, he told me that the update should be Next week or the week after that. At the latest Early July. Not trying to throw any false statements out there so that was what I understood and if the Sprint Rep was telling the truth. I'm guessing we will get the OTA in about a week or two..
Many of you are asking : why do we care? We have the leak.
Well you answered your question. it is a LEAK. Plus, its most likely (hopefully) that they'll release the source code a few days or a week after the ota. We can use that to create stable kernels or even get 3D & 4G working on Sense 4 roms.
I know that there are going to be people flaming at me for not including a source. So I am posting this at caution. Maybe next time I'll record the conversation (Sarcasm)

I think that the customer rep. just gave you a guess of when the ICS OTA will be. I am saying a guess, because I know customer reps are in the same field where we are, when it comes to OTA liable information.
They should release it tomorrow. It'll be the one year mark for the 3d.

I don't understand why you're implying it's bad because it's a leak? Most roms are based off a production ruu. Just because someone got it early doesn't make it incomplete or bad. How different do you think the code is going to be? Minimal.

I for 1 have noticed some things that should be worked on. I've had weaker signal, slower Internet, and issues of not being able to receive texts in some situations since flashing a rom based on the leak. Plus there is a bug with the front camera. If the leak didn't have issues, wouldn't be officially released by now?

My phone runs like crap off of the kernels available for ICS ROMS so i do need a release. Sure, not everyone needs it but some of us do.

Exactly. It's pretty obvious that the Sprint rep was just speculating. Anyone can pretty much guess that it will be sometime around July.
And to everyone complaining about the leak being unstable, I doubt any changes will be made from that and our OTA except the VM stuff. Also, I've had 0 issues so far running the stock leak.

Same experiance here. I started with Newts, but switched to MeanRom because I MUST have access to 4g. I could do without 3d, but I couldn't stand the slowness of 3g. 'Course, with MeanRom...I get my cake AND (Ice) cream.
Miss the Sense 4.0 though....mostly landscape Rosie once I put my phone in the car dock.

I have to agree Newts was fantastic if it just had 4g.....The sense 4 car dock mode is really nice and overall it's a great rom.
Running off the leaked ICS and im also on crickets network, and i have Zero problems what so ever. Im not to worried about the OTA release other then them releaseing the source code for further development! If there nice that is ^_-
I hear some one have an Amaze 4G running ICS 4.0.4, but when update from OTA, I got 4.0.3 (TMobile).
Any one know what OTA (or leaked) can I use for 4.0.4?
Another question: Can I flash an OTA from Telus or Wind on my TMobile?
Thank.

If you want to flash RUU from another carrier, you'll need to have s-off and super cid.

No carrier got 4.0.4, they all got 4.0.3, you're sol until the guys get their 4.0.4 custom rom fully working.

Apparently HTC is updating the amaze to 4.1, would be great if they do, you guys would love the smoothness of JB, hopefully they give you sense 4.0 as well.
I was thinking the might if anything knowing them they would give us a bs sense 3.7-3.9 but just not sense 4

I'd hate that, knowing this phone could do with the lighter version of sense, but then again, JB is pretty smooth and completely lag free, so even if you guys are stuck on sense 3.6, once you get the update at all, you'll be in heaven, trust me.
Yea I think so I'm just curious to see how they approach the update

It shouldn't be that difficult noting JB wasn't a major overhaul the way ICS was, so working with it should be simple, once they don't push too much bloat into it and slow down the system, which with the work google put in, shouldn't be affected at all.
It cant be sense 4 because sense 4 is ICS, in theory since sense 4 is ics they cant make sense 3.x jellybean because the order would be broken of versions....they might give a sense 4.1 and give one s users sense 4.5 of something along those lines

lol wut?
Anyways, several things.
1. Why the need for 4.0.4? I've looked at the change log, doesn't seem like all that much that I'd really care about
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_version_history#Android_4.0.x_Ice_Cream_Sandwich
Don't we have custom camera software anyways?
Damn, gotta have that smoother screen rotation....
2. Why the need for Sense 4? I've used a phone with Sense 4, and to be honest, Sense 3.6 and 4 are very similar, just 4 has a few quirks (recent apps screen, widgets in the app drawer, couple extra cloud services, what else?).
http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/45134/htc-sense-3-6-vs-sense-4
Version number envy?
3. I doubt HTC would bump the sense version if we get JB.

Yes but apparently sense versions below 4 are huge hogs, even HTC admited it was, so they made sense 4 much more lighter. And, if HTC gave us older devices ics with an slightly updated sense 3.6 instead of 4, then they might give us sense 4 while probably a new gen HTC's with a newer version of sense releases, makes SENSE to me ahhahahaha pun intended

Not gonna happen. Multiple times they've stated legacy devices that shipped pre-ICS will not get Sense 4. They want to maintain the same look & feel as when the phone shipped, so as not to upset most people. Granted, basically anyone on xda would probably rather have AOSP from the manufacturer, but the general public won't. Eg. my girlfriend has the Evo 3D and says she won't update to ICS when Sprint releases it next month because they got rid of the arc tray at the bottom on the home screen. She had a friend who has the Evo V 4G, saw what ICS would look like on her phone, and has completely ruled it out.

I'll be honest, the Rezound is my first Android. I didn't even come looking at XDA for answers until I got tired of the OTA drama. I'm still bone stock, not even unlocked. I've been looking around and liking what I've seen. Really digging Nils Business Sense and the new Redzound theme.
With the OTA in sight, according to the latest rumors, am I better off waiting then going custom or taking the dive now and if there are any surprise developments with the OTA incorporating them after the OTA drops?

I have been hearing it's "just around the corner" since I bought mine in December! I did the leak in May and S- offed last month. My thought was that once I was s-off I could get a rom that had the official release. I have had no regrets and NilsP is an awesome Dev!

Yeah, what the other guy said. Some people would recommend doing s-off before the OTA, in case they close the exploit but I think the consensus is that we're safe. So, no rush, but might as well unlock, s-off and flash away.
Well to be honest I think the only thing you have working for you when upgrading via OTA is that shouldn't lose any of your settings...or takin the dive now with an ics leak you will have to set your phone up again. But then again what's the big deal? It's some what easy to go back to GB if you have the know how or the common sense to read instructions to root, s off revert back to GB ruu and if you are one of those people that need to return everything back to stock for exchange purposes you can even s on. Just make sure you do your homework and read all the stickys that are posted and should be good to go.
Advantages: None that I can think of.
Disadvantages: You could die of old age waiting for the OTA.
Would it be smart to wait until the ICS kernel is release and start with those roms so we don't have to use patched gb ones? Or would it not make much difference having the ICS kernel? Sounds to me like we will have to re flash ruu files either way when ics comes out
I rooted, S-OFF'd, and installed a custom ICS ROM the second I got my Rezound. I was never really interested in the OTA update because I knew I'd go the custom route regardless. Too many ROMs out there with features that the official OTA would never have. Not just Sense 4 but plenty more. I can't really think of any advantages of bothering with Verizon's OTA unless you really want to stay stock.
