I tend to mount my phone in landscape when I'm in the car (it's not a dedicated dock or anything fancy just a basic holder). My question is, I don't see any settings anywhere to make the phone call screen stay in landscape it always forces itself to portrait. Is there a way to prevent it from doing that? It'll stay landscape until you place the call then it'll flip to portrait.
I'm on ShoStock ICS ROM but I don't recall this ever being allowed even on GB or a stock ROM. Thanks!
I have the actual car dock mount and everything so far has stayed landscape EXCEPT while in-call. I think the phone apk just doesn't have a landscape orientation.

well a few times when I go to place a call I'll see it in landscape for a 1/2 second or so and then it'll rotate over to portrait so I have a feeling it "could" do it.
I don't think its possible. Let me try with aokp and I'll let you know.
OK just called my wife. The screen blacked out and would not switch to landscape, even after the screen turned back on. I've also noticed that spotify does this as well. I just don't think the apk has the ability.

AOSP has this ability, I'm pretty sure, but I don't think Touchwiz ROMs can do this.
I think op means to have landscape during a call.
I started a call from landscape and it went to portrait. It tried to switch to landscape.

My mistake. It reverts to portrait and shuts off the screen here too.

Works perfectly on aokp. I leave my phone in landscape in my car. You can even use landscape lock screen on aokp. While in phone app, menu, settings, enable landscape. Done.

Just tested it it only stays in landscape when in the dialer screen but it defaults to portrait on the call in progress screen and stays that way even if i bring up the keypad again.
For the curious, this is what it looks like on AOKP.

Yeap, it works beautiful in AOKP
Hrm...this is helpful but I want to know if it's possible to have tasker enable this setting in the phone apk setting only when docked. I hate answering calls and it rotates to landscape mode. So in other words I only want the phone the phone app to go into landscape mode when the phone is in the car dock.

I want to put an AOKP rom on my phone but there are a few little things I like about the stock Samsung Android apps. For one I like the smart alarms on the Samsung clock app but I've got that covered. I also like the video app that gives you a button to rotate the screen even if you have auto rotate off which I usually do. Is there an app that anyone knows of on the marketplace that can do this like stock?

I have used Nova for a bunch of different phones and I don't remember it ever FCing once. (it has definitely ran absolutely perfect in my N2.
Ultimate rotation control will allow you to force anything to rotate. I used it to get 180 rotation before we had ROMs with it baked in.

Alternatively, search for "Rotation Locker madmack" on Google Play for a free app that works too, pressing and holding "auto" when you start up the app will make it run in the background.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=robj.floating.notifications I ran into this the other day and thought wow this works really well espcially for mycolorscreen set up i have curretnly with no status bar or anyting was really liking, i believe this is to replicate the "holo" feature on cm rom's you guys tried this what do you guys think??
So ive seen this out for a while now, and thought it was some cheesey knockoff version of Holo. I said to myself why waste my time. Then seeing this thread, and being bored I just gave it a go. Boy am I glad I did, ive run AOSP roms with holo and its still nothing compared to this. This is like simple multitasking amd they can be hidden whenever! Much better!
Thanks for being the one to make me finally try this out!

Been running it since build 2...big fan. It's great for quick views of emails/text etc when watching a movie or playing a game without having to exit and go to the app directly. You can view the header and then decide if you want to respond or not.
Really good find. can't wait to play with this
I made a youtube video about this when it was in beta stage. The developer is in the android apps and games forum. This is good stuff even for people that arent rooted.

Put myself in hot-reboot city last night. Enabled this in accessibility, rocking Beans 18 and AOSP lock screen - just started hot booting to the lock screen. Touch the lock - cycle repeats. Pulled the notification bar to get into settings and turned it off. It stopped.
I'm guessing AOSP lock screen + Xposed status bar + this checked in accessibility = no bueno.

Same exact set up (minus xposed status bar) and had the same issue with rebooting. Issue started 5 minutes after installing the app and allowing accessibility. Issue stopped after I deleted the app. Gonna try to see if I can change a few things to get it working.

The issue is AOSP lockscreen and Accessibility settings. If you're on standard TW lockscreen, there are no problems. Had the same issue with LightFlow previously.
The only thing I have a problem with, and its probably something that cant be fixed is when I get the bubble on the lock screen and click on it ot doesnt unlock. Any fix for this?

Good to know.
I assumed as much, but I love the AOSP lock screen. No lock/pattern AND music controls. Plus, the clock looks cleaner.
How well does this app work without accessibility turned on? Or does it? I flipped it on at about 2 am and messed around for about 15 mins before I started my trip to Las Bootsville, so I didn't get any notifications then.

Caused my phone to freeze up too. Didn't try this fix but will give it a try and see what happens. I hope it works.
I would love to attach a screenie.....but it happens so randomly and only lasts a second.
Im presuming that the function is built in because the screen doesnt look all messed up. So does anyone know how to turn Landscape lockscreen on?
Ove looked through the setting but cant see anything? Perhaps im just being a tard?

Android at its core can support a landscape lockscreen. There are a few apps out there that force rotation even when the app doesn't think it should support it. For example, the Netflix app is ALWAYS portrait when in the menu and ALWAYS landscape during video playback, but I used to use an app called "Ultimate Rotation Control", and it allowed it to do the menu in landscape and the video in portrait. I think the same sort of thing would work for you here, but I must admit that it's been a long time since I've used a lockscreen, so I don't know for sure.
Thanks. Ill take a look.
