How to get BLACK Notification Bar for the Motorola Defy(Official Froyo 2.2) in the Simplest way?
Is it possible to apply the Black bar in the simplest way without installing/using custom roms like CM7 or MIUI or flashing anytheme roms?
i very much want a Black or Best-a "Transparent" Notification Bar(if possible) ,but i dont know how?
is using metamorph & a spl theme the easiest way to install black status/notification bar?...if yes,plz tell me the correct procedure!
i am currently on official Indian Froyo 2.2 from Motorola & am quite happy with everything & dont want to install other roms! (also i find the installation process complicated & risky), except a Black or Best-a "Transparent" Notification Bar!
Can u experts tell me in the simplest way how to do it,(step by step if possible), how to achieve what i'm seeking?
I'm just a common noob!....reply & help me plz!
*btw, my defy is rooted !
TIA!
I think that the only way is to flash a ROM with black bar.
And transparent status bar isn't possible.
I recommend that you flash CM7.
No other replies...some alternative method of achieving Black status bar other than flashing custom roms?....i dont want to flash other roms..i'm happy with froyo 2.2,except the status bar which i want to be black coloured or transparent!
May be not directly answer your question,
but you can use some luancher that can HIDE the notification bar.
So yau can still use official froyo and no notification bar on the top of the screen.
Already doing that!... but i seriously thought black status bar could be at least possible on a froyo defy,w/o flashing any custom roms!...but i'm getting no lead to that!
current h.s w/o Statusbar
can use go launcher. there is an option to hide the bar

I'm not too sure, but I think the black bar is possible only on android 2.3.0 or later. Sure is possible do it on any rom, but you will have to edit the source of the rom, compile it again and flash it, so its more easy you flash a 2.3.x rom than put the black bar on your rom w/o flash it again (to not say impossible).

in cm7 you can use themes which have a black or a transparent Status bar.I think it's not possible to get a different status bar in Stockroms!
sorry for my bad english

you can use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=867692 theme with metamorph.
just download the. zip file from the link + metamorph from the Marked. Then open metamorph and select unzip/extract new theme and choose your downloadet zip.
if you want back to stock, just download the other zip and apply
it.

Thanks Friend for trying to help me out, & it would have been perfect solution for me, except that there r lot of problems with it,particularly clock as found by various users,..morever i'm NOT sure if it's for 2.1 or 2.2 ?...i allmost halfbricked my defy by installing a wrong theme under metamorph!
Sorry to say, but if you want a black bar, lose this fear of install a rom or give up from this ideia. All this have risk of brick. You start of play with it will ensure you to solve any problem after. If you install a wrong zip from metamorph on your rom, you will have to install a rom our lose much more. Install the titanium backup. Make the backup of everything and try a new rom.the risk of you brick your phone trying to put the black bar without change your android version is much bigger than just put a cm7, for example. Get the FAQ on dev section of how install the cm7 or ginger with motoblur. Read it well and do exactly how it say. Will be faster and easier than how are you trying.

other than of just the fear of bricking the phone,....i have the fear that Cm7 or miui are still half baked products with bugs here & there...,example.wifi will not work/ cause problem(i have NO data plans & completely dependent upon wifi) or camera will not work properly etc, etc. i still feel that for stability purpose with everything running properly, stock roms r the best!

Seriously you think stock is the best.... well I just flashed for the first time and used CM 7 RC 1 and I was delighted to see an almost 2x increase in my GPRS/Edge 2G speed almost instantaneously. On my stock 2.2.2 Froyo.... it was cr$p
^^ have u any Negative experience with working/using the wifi & also about camera on defy after updating to cm7?...i hear many ppls facing problems on those issues. So,i'm asking u, if u can give me a Honest answer?...also can u tell me ,why it is called Cm7 RC1(Release Candidate1)?...why are not they final yet..if they r just perfect?
I don't have any problems with camera on my green lents defy. I just don't have a way yet to make a video with 720p, and this you don't have with stock too. Out you have a red lent, you can do it. Its not a final version 'cause they still trying a way to put 720p on green yet and others little things. It get a final version just when the group of cm past to support the device (hard without unlocked bootloader).
All that you have on the stock I have on cm7, much faster by the way. And you don't have a clock on demand like us, cannot change your lock screen by free without a ads or a strange bug that I fold when I tried do it on a stock. You cannot change your status bar or what you have on it and even get a transparent effect when slide it. And by the way, none about multitouth by default. And since I have used a custom rom,i had, the luck, of not see anymore a force close windows (much common when I was on 2.1 w/ blur). But is your choose. But with metamorph, you install a zip as you was installing a rom out paths of it. Any wrong file, and your rom can be corrupted. With this, or you do a backup of the rom or lost ask.
Do whatever you choose, but first install the titanium backup a do a backup of whatever you have. With this, whatever problem you have, you will can restore your apps and the data from them.

Hey there,
Has anyone managed to patch there CM 7.1 Legend with ACheps ICS layout mod found here? I've tried multiply times resulting in my status bar simply not showing and coming up with an error. If anyone has succeeded can they post there patch files here for me to use? Thanks
I've also tried it with CM7.1 but without success. Lock-ring and transitions effects did work, but the statusbar crashes right after unlocking the phone.
I've got it working a while ago.
Quite easy if you're reading the Instructions.
1) Deodex your ROM (Important, otherwise there will be crashes like hell)
2) Run the AChep Patcher
3) Put the Files back to your phone and flash them
4) Maybe you have to revert to stock and then flash again to make it work properly.
The first step is the hardest step, but it's easy if you read...
yop, i get this thing working without problem, running KANG 7.1 CM, just recieved one warning about resolution when applying, commited, screen made some resolution changes and the went back to normal with the status bar and the rest correctly...
Got bootloop when I tried.
I think someone should release a rom with this theme as default
Aha I didn't realise you need to deodex your rom! I read the instructions many a time and didn't see it state that, ah well. I think I prefer an odes rom over this modification. But I would be interested in a custom build cm7 with this already on.

Why don't you ask this guy here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1515410 , he is currently making a new rom for the HTC Legend and wouldn't mind for some suggestions.
I Have TGF´s cm7.1 costum rom... where is a patch to to get centered clock and transparency status bar. or use Kang 7.2 TGF on Legend Development.
I´ve have apply A chep´s ICS theme, get ics transitions on the theme, flash mod to lock screen on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312431
And have change clock fonts. Try to see on this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363239

Hello everyone,
Cm7 themes are dying but fortunately
many cm9/10 themes work on it.
Some result in bootloop!
Anypne knows anything about editing the
apks so as to make th work?
Peeps, many devices wont have stable ics
cyanogen. We could help them.
So far Ive found:
Install cm9 theme on sd card and then
apply it so even if it reboots, it wont be a
boot loop.
If the statusbar fails to appear/ is blank,
launch screen filter or any app that has a
notification.
Changing the density helps in many
cases.
So anyone can add anything?

Glad to hear you like the rom mate Regarding that error, I think you are missing the app NoFrills, Just download it from market and no more errors [Use the normal version, not classic]
And Kernel cant be changed with NoFrills, only Governors and Schedulers. You need to use fastboot or cwm to flash a kernel
Can you post the script here ? Ill look into it
And changing the font, go to the data/custom/font folder in my zip file, then copy over the contents of 1 into /system/fonts to get back Stock font. After that, seelct the font you want and replace DroidSans and DroidSans Bold with these to finish the job
Hope it helps

Min3r i notice that iam having some delay to receive the whatsapp and facebook notifications or any other app that uses data, is something in configuration( deep sleep is not actived) or its some tweak that you did to preserve battery ??

Hey guys, my question is essentially what the title says. I find that in CM10 based roms, that whenever I use the stock cyanogen mod browser, it automatically goes into desktop mode (and is stuck there. The desktop mode checkbox, however, is unchecked.) I'm fairly sure it worked before I used the touch pad fix here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1893343 - So I think it might be a framework/build.prop issue, but I'm not sure. I've been looking to fix this problem everywhere but haven't really been able to find a solution. Do you guys have any idea what the fix might be?
hey..this was better on general section or in some thread..i remember you posted this on one of the roms..but seems to be a general cm10 problem..so maybe better install another browser for your needs.

Oh I asked in your racing jb rom thread, but now I'm trying to make a cm10 based rom of my own, and it seems that after testing many other Cm10 roms, everyone has this issue. But I think it's a build.prop thing, cause I'm sure that before, on Sonygenmod Cm10, it worked normally, but after I applied the touchpad fix, that's when it started messing up.
Since this is more of a universal problem, I thought all the devs here might have some insight on a fix for this.

Oh ok guys, I can confirm that this is a framework problem. Not a build.prop problem. To figure this out, I used four different versions of the sonygen cm10 mod. First version was with old build.prop and old framework, witch worked fine, and the second was with old framework, but new build.prop, which also worked fine. New framework, old build.prop did not give me the mobile version of google, however, as long with the new build.prop, new framework.
So now, we just need to find out what exactly is wrong with the new version of the framework. I feel like the new framework causes the phone to look like a tablet to the cyanogenmod stock browser, but I'm not sure.
With this post I have attached both the new framework, and the old framework, if anyone else wanted to run any tests on their own. (or figure out what's wrong).
I can also supply both build.prop's if you guys think it's necessary.
I should also say, that this is an issue, for without the new framework, touchpads won't be able to work. So if anyone can help modify the new framework or anything, I would really appreciate the help.

All right, well that seems to do the trick. When I try to use the touchpad activator app, it gives me the "error 5 expected reciever of type android.view.ViewRoot, but got android.view.ViewRootImpl". But, Dead Trigger works perfectly how it's supposed to, and the stock browser is using the mobile version now. Just remember to make the necessary build.prop changes as outlined in Fahrenheit's guide.
