If you are in good standing with AT&T you can request an unlock code from them.

Like the previous poster said, you can unlock directly through ATT if you are their customer.
If not, search for Atrix unlock code on ebay. Those should work too but cost money.

No. search the forums, its been asked and there is a bounty in effect.

Hey guys, I have a rooted Thunderbolt that I'm selling but I was going to sell it with Gingeritis3D on it.
If I reflash the ROM, it will allow its new owner to setup their account on the phone and use it as their own, but I got stuck wondering that if they could even activate it while this ROM was installed.
While Gingeritis3D is the running ROM on this phone, can it be activated online or via customer service line?
If not, how could the phone be activated?

It should be able to be activated. They will need to do it over the phone with customer service.

Thanks man, I knew I would probably receive my answer from you. Lol.
If it can't be activated after calling customer service, does that make it obviously rooted to them or does it throw up some sort of red flag?
Oh, and can they activate it on the SIM card that's in it or will they need to get a new one?
I have no use for the SIM.

You will need a new sim and they won't know its rooted if it won't activate. Just download a sense 2.1 ROM and use it to activate if you have any issues but I don't think you will.

Alright.
I can go up to Verizon and get another SIM for it that will work for whoever buys it, right? Or do they have to go get one themselves?
I just know they can't take it in there and let them put it in since it would be rooted.
...Or does it even matter to them since the phone has no warranty anyways?
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
It wouldn't matter anyway and yea you could just take it in there and get a sim. Just make sure its a corporate store and not a retailer because they will charge you for a sim.

Alright.
And though it's rooted and no warranty, they will put a new one in it and activate it?
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
Yea. They'll note it more than likely that there is no warranty since its rooted and sold to another person. They know my phone is rooted and it hasn't caused me any problems and I use up gigabytes of data with wireless tether.

It can also be done online with no problem. That's how I activated mine with someone's test Rom on it. All you need to do online is enter the esn and the sim card number to register and activate the sim card.

Yes, through my Verizon on their site. Just select the line you want to change then switch devices and follow the prompts.

Oh okay.
This was actually a post asking what someone could do to activate the phone after I sold it to them.
But I'm sure they could do it this way as well.
Thank you!

I realize that. That's why I told you how I went about activating one after I purchased it from someone else. :banghead:

Gotcha! Lol.
I'll go by Verizon and pick up a SIM card for the buyer I suppose, and I'll just tell the person at Verizon that I'll activate it myself online... just to be safe.
Or does the SIM have to have a specific number in relation to the new owners account or phone number?
Should I go get the SIM or should I let the new owner get it?

Umm. Let them get it. They are only gonna give you one for your own account. This should not be an issue. It should be a given that you get your own sim when you buy a used phone. If they expect you to provide it id say they aren't very inteligent.

Hi, I bought the codes from eBay, and I don't know if the warranty is still valid because it is unlocked. So, is there a simple way to lock it to the network again? Or, there is no need to re-lock it because they can't see it its unlocked because I used a code. Thanks
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Yes my friend, it is possible .. Just Google it and you will find (can't give you the link now). It's basically insert the network code which you want the phone to be locked .
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for reply, I am googleing it for the whole morning, and I found just one video on youtube, but I want to lock it like it was never been unlocked, to use original codes. do they check it if it is unlocked anyway? Thanks

Yes that's what I'm talking about. I didn't realize they were unique to the phone. Learn something new everyday. Any pointers you can give me? Not trying to profit. Just doing this for myself. No way I could do it for a living. Seems like a very long process flashing cdma phones.
