Itunes downloads not showing? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have a few song I've downloaded from iTunes but they never show up in my music folder in my Bolt - what the hell, I actually legit bought these a while back and I can't play them!
If it means anything for this problem - My phone is rooted but not running any ROMs currently - I made it so far as flashing/running Thundershed but after shutting down my phone and booting it back up the ROM wouldn't load (spinning color cycle of death) so I had to revert back to my backup file which scared me away from messing around anymore. Yes, obviously I have no background knowledge in this area!

I believe itunes music is in this aac format and could have DRM. If DRM is not present, you just need to find a player that can play aac format. I DRM is present, you may need to get an ipod app for Android

[Q] Music on 16GB SDCard

I was exploring the possibility of using the GTab as a music player in my car. While trying this out, I discovered that when the music (WMAs) is on a 16GB (Class 2) card, GTab will not find the music. The music, however, is there and I can find and play the tracks via iFilemanger or Sniffer but usually will show as Unknown Artist/Album.
When those same music tracks are placed on a 4GB Card, GTab finds them just find and all details show in the music player. For S&Gs I ripped two albums to MP3 and loaded them onto the 16GB card, GTab finds them with no problem.
I have tried WinAmp, Zimly and the basic stock music player. Currently running TNT Lite 4.2.5.
Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.
Thanks
DH
Have you tried poweramp?
You change from library to file
Two day trial but i bought it sooner

I havent tried that but I suspect depending on how much music you have, that the scanner isn't finding the music or isn't done scanning when you attempt to play it. The scanning process seems to be universal somehow and most players depend on it. Maybe it builds a temporary database of some sort? No clue - devs would maybe know that.
I use several apps, Doubletwist, Mixzing and Winamp in addition to the Music player and of them all, only Doubletwist seems to work independently of the scanner and always sees and plays the music. There are times when the others will see but can't play anything.
Also, it's not so great a device for playing music long term as after a while for some reason you get some "time jumps" in music. Thats how I refer to it because it's definitely not skipping. It will jump to the previous song, then back to the one currently playing, then to the next, then all the way back to the one it started time jumping on. It does this usually when I suspect there's some clocking down going on inside. Never when I just start the music or soon after....generally hours later.
Good Luck.
Do you have a .nomedia file somewhere in the root of your 16gb card or in your music directory? It might be causing the gtab to skip the scan of your card. Not having the .nomedia file though will erase any videos on your card so i would suggest placing the .nomedia file in your video directory but keep it out of your music folder.
I was hoping to do something similar and use the gtab as a car music player and have a 500 GB portable drive plugged in to it to give me something similar to the Archos 5 internet tablet for music playback but I can't seem to find a good way to do this
I have never had good results with wma files. I suggest converting them to mp3. Mixing, stock, cubed, they always played them weird and had missing tags and data when viewed. Convert to native mp3 support and save yourself tons at hassle.
Oh and +1 for power amp. The full mixing board and pre amp along with the ability to save settings and apply settings to specific songs and albums is mind blowing. The album art downloader is sweet too. Realy hard to go back to any other player. They had my money within 2days of the trial period.

Thanks for the lead on PowerAmp, nice app and found the music right away. Interestingly, after adding nearly 8 gigs of music to the card, the libaray found all of the tracks.

BINGO!
Thank you.
Putting the .nomedia folder into a folder called Video cured my scan issues on the 16gb SD card.
I never had a problem with either of the VEGANtab versions, when I reverted back to Stock 4349 I had trouble.

[Q] CM7 RC1 and mp3 tags

Hello all.
I don't have access to the dev forum yet so I'm posting here. I have been running eclipse for a long time but recently tried CM7 and it is so much faster but there is one problem. My music files almost all show up as unknown artist. I use my phone as a music player in my car so this is a huge pain in the behind. I have reflashed twice now following all the instructions. I even SBF'd back to stock and wiped everything. The tags are fine on my PC, my old mp3 player and my wife's iphone so I know it's not a problem with the actual files.
Does anyone else have this issue? I did some searching on google and did find one post where someone said that it was a problem with the beta for the DX but I couldn't find any other info on it so if this is a known issue then I'm sorry for failing at the internet.
May I suggest trying a different music player. I use PowerAmp ($4.99 I believe) and have never looked back.
Just because the tags may show properly on those devices doesn't mean that they're error-free. Check the files using a well-known tagger such as mp3tag.

I have no issues on stock CM7 player. My wife uses an iPod for her music playing and I use my phone, so I am (whipped) 'forced' to use iTunes to sort and tag our music files. As mp4's the tags run perfectly. (Tagged with iTunes).
What software are you using to tag your files?

[Q] Can't play music on stock/2.3.5 Electrify

My phone is rooted and all that, but it's fine... my wife has the same phone and she's running stock everything. Hasn't even changed the launcher. At some point (she didn't say when) music just stopped working. It's like the phone cannot play Mp3s. Amazon Music and Blur Music, both came with the phone, neither can play songs. These songs played fine before, and include songs on my phone (same phone, but rooted) that play fine on mine.
Amazon MP3 says something about an unexpected error and Blur Music says it does not recognize the file type. But the album covers as well as track/title/artist/album info, which are stored in the .mp3 file, come right up. So it's reading the MP3's metadata.
Reboot, I've had this before and it seems to
Go away when I reboot

[Q] Non-DRM m4a (aac) support after bootloader unlock? [EDIT]

Hi, I have recently unlocked the bootloader of my ST15i according to the official method on Sony Mobile Developer World.
I knew it was going to delete DRM & TrackID, about which I didn't care, because I haven't bought any music in iTunes, I have only ripped some CD's in a m4a (aac) 128 kpbs format, which resulted in non-DRM'ed m4a's that I could play on any device supporting m4a (aac).
But, I quickly noticed I just couldn't play m4a (aac) files anymore. I tried several music players, and PowerAmp seems the only one that can play these files now, problem: it's paid.
So, the question is, is there any way to get these files supported again in the stock music player? Because it seems the bootloader-unlock also removed non-drm m4a support... Thanks in advance.
PS:
I'm now running the original SE ROM (.62) + a prerooted kernel.
I don't know if this the correct subforum, because this could also be a feature idea/request for development... :S
There has to be a way to solve this ^^, if PowerAmp is capable to play m4a's..
[EDIT]
It seems WinAmp also does the job (hadn't tried this one), but suggestions on how to get support in the stock music player are still welcome! (because I like the stock 'simplicity' & memory usage more).
I am not sure if unlocking bootloader would affect the usage of the stock music player. The music files that you are trying to play are not even protected as per your explanation.
Have you tried other formats like mp3 or aac+?
Try reencoding your audio cds to the same aac format then try it again on the stock music player.
If it still does not work, then you are better off using another player.

Thanks for you answer, these aac's worked on the stock player before I unlocked the bootloader, mp3's worked and are still working fine. I don't have any aac+'s.
The aac's are indeed not protected, and thats what I think is weird, because there's absolutely no DRM on them if you just rip a CD...
What would reencoding the CD's to the same format help? It's the same format xP. I don't have the time now, but i'll try one CD later, until then I can use WinAmp without a problem.

If the CDs are official ones, they might be copy-protected anyway.
Do the music files, ripped from CD, work on your PC?

Nah, if you rip them the don't have any protection anymore. The ripped files perfectly work on VLC... so there's no need for an account permission or a familiar thing. Btw, I don't have iTunes installed anymore.

Anyone know where playlists are stored for stock Music app?

Tired of having to recreate them after flashing new ROMs. I tried backing up the Music app in Titanium and then restoring the data to a new ROM but that didn't seem to work.
Don't know, but I'm with you on this. I lost my playlist 3 weeks ago, and won't recreat it on my phone sd. It's pointless, b/c I always loose it. I have it on my pc, & I sync with my Amazon Cloud. I access it from there. The only downside is I need an internet connection, but until I hear of a better solution, its what I'm sticking with.

it seems that playlist handling is kinda wonky on the stock Music app. I have a playlist that I sync from my computer using DoubleTwist, and the Music app only sees the first version of the playlist, it never displays the updated versions of it.
only workaround that's worked for me is using another player, even though I'd prefer using the stock one...
Poweramp Music Player in the market allows backup of playlist files to the SD card. This is a huge missing feature from the stock Music players that I thought would have long been overcome by now. Poweramp is $5, but it will be the best $5 you have ever spent if you flash a lot of ROMs!
I downloaded the trial, and imported the playlist to Poweramp from system. Then I deleted the playlist from stock Music app. Exported playlist from Poweramp and rebooted and it didn't show up in the stock music app. So then I moved the .m3u8 playlist file to /sdcard/Music and the stock music app saw the playlist but it was empty. Did I do something wrong?
