I founded and downloaded PC Companion's latest version from here:

Old news, .69 update was already on wotan since february. This was intended only for the German market and this is what I'm using now.
It has new baseband, gmal issue fix in DE and a small bug fix.

There is a lot of topics with answer on Your question so please do not spam forum.
You also posted in wrong subforum...
You will not lose the root if u update via air on software update app .. If u want to update it via SUS or pc companion u will lose the root ... And plz post this sort of threads on original section ...

If you rooted your .431, you don't need downgrade to gb, run step III from your rooted 431 and follow instruction ( in step 4 flash 587 ftf instead 431, you can fimd ,587 ftf for your phone in this forum) and ( recommend to use flashtool to flash your 587 rom ft f)

I've tried to update to .587 OTA and got "could not install" error after reboot =/
