Hi everyone,
Does anyone knows how to put the symbol key (on the bottom right) to work on custom roms like it works on stock?
I use a lot of letters like "á, é, ã".
So on the original ROM I needed to press the Sym key + the "A" key to get the "Á".
On Custom Roms (MiniCM7 in this case) The Sym key works just like the blue key.
Is there any workaround or app to fix this?
Best Regards.
EDIT: I should created this thread on Q&A Subforum. Sorry :S
Does anyone know how to do this?
It works for me, using sony ericsson's default input method. If you don't mind the bar at the bottom of the screen you can try to flash it.
I don't remember where I found the flashable zip I attached to give credit.
Kanellos, u saved my life!
It works like a charm, just need to install and go to settings > Language & Input > and deactivate the Android keyboard.
Also, it works on Android 4.0
Thank you for providing me this and thanks to Paul-XXX for makin this hotfix
Please post Questions in Q&A from now on.

Hi everybody,
Since I installed the Cyanogen Froyo rom, my physical keyboard switched in QWERTY. I'm french, so I prefer an Azerty one. So I used this to switch back in AZERTY.
That works fine ! For the screen keyboard, not for the physical one that stays in QWERTY.
Can somebody help me ? Thank you !
I'm guessing your solution can be solved by checking out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982341
Not 100% sure though
I tried this, but an error appears while installing (It says some like "The script is depreced since Android 1.5, Installation Aborted") :/
In the Mini Pro development forum, there is a ROM manager created by slade87 and D4.
In this ROM manager, there is a keyboard selection tool, which allows you to choose the one you prefer. It is also important to long klick the box where you want to write and choose the "standard input method" when you use the physical keyboard.

witch input do you use in physical keyboard? beacuse Azerty will work only in default input. or you can sherce in android keyboard for your language.
so the bes option is to use default keyboard
Download smart keyboard 15.
Ok I just changed the imput in default imput and everything's fine. Thank you !
I have MiniCM7-2.1.8 on my X10 mini pro, and now I am stuck finding the correct way to enable the QWERTZ keyboard layout for the Standard and Android input method including the special German characters.
slade87's thread gives some (although quite confusing) info, but the files for download are not working any more, because they are based on the old update-script-style not supported by CWM any more.
It should not be that hard to perform such an important localization, most solutions only manipulate the keyprint.xml, but that's not enough.
So can someone please explain how to get fully localized QWERTZ keyboards for the German language up and running?

Use the application mini rom manager ... Search in xda..
Sent from my U20i using xda premium
Ok, switched to QWERTZ using ROM Manager, but as I already knew, this only switched it for the Standard Input, but not the Android Input.
I have seen in slade87's thread, what has to be done, to switch the Android Input, but I don't know how, since the downloads in slade87's thread do not work any more with recent CWM, and I really do not want to fiddle around in the ROM manually.
Any suggestions, or do just have to forget about the Android Input?
I´m going to "fix" my dad´s phone tomorrow so stand by until then..

Hello,
I have a xperia x10 mini pro and I have flashed CM1O-4.0.2 mimmi. But my hw keyboard does not work properly: special keys does not work, blue key does not work, and m is replaced by ",".
I have searched for a long time to find answers to this issue, but nothing works correctly (suggested upgrades or patches do not work...). These answered are a bit dated. Is there finally a way to fix this problem?
Thanks for your help

Hi, I've been looking for that too and applied the following tweak today.
From what I've read this morning, this kind of behaviour is defined by files in /system/usr/keylayout
The actual file you need to edit depends on the rom and/or phone model.
On my NeoV running Ultimate HD 2.0.3, I modified qwerty.kl and pm8058-keypad.kl (not sure which was necessary).
Edit: tested on TheDarkDefender's CM10 for neoV, editing pm8058-keypad.kl is enough.
You want to search for a line like
Code:
key 102 HOME WAKE_DROPPED
or
Code:
key 102 HOME WAKE
and replace it with
Code:
key 102 HOME
Reboot when done.
Got the best solution thanks
Got the best solution thanks sooo much to understanding my problem & for the solution. It's great.
Hey Guys,
i've a x10 mini pro with naa's miniCM Rom and of course his kernel.
But what i don't understand is why the hardwarekeyboard, especially the blue button and the layout (i need a german qwertz layout) dosen't work by default.
In an other thread i found a working solution with a zip i needed to flash. now my keyboard works as it should do, but i don't understand what the problem was.
And because i'm a nosy person i would like to understand what the problem is.
Is someone here able to explain it to me?
(An other reason for my question is, that i tried an other keyboard (called minuum) which i really liked. But when i installed it and set it as default, my hardware-keyboard stopped to work correct. So i need a workaround so i can use both the [link "h t t p://minuum.c om/"]minuum-keyobard (@admin: if it's not allowed to post likes, please remove it) as a screen-keyboard and my hardware-keyboard (with the correct layout and with blue (and the other 'special-key-button') )
Thanks
