I'm having the same issue and USB debugging is on. It was working fine after I unlocked the bootloader.

Stuck after hours of research and failed attempts

Okay, here is my problem. First off I am stuck at the HTC quietly brilliant boot screen after I successfully unlocked the bootloader. Then I tried to root the device with rootbootv5 and as i was following the instructions it was trying to backup the phone and got stuck "waiting for the device". Now my computer does not recognize the phone and when i try to factory reset it just goes back to being stuck.
Also when I go into HBOOT it is stuck "checking SD card update" until i unplug the usb cord. When entering recover from HBOOT it just goes to a triangle with a exclamation mark.. This is a AT&T phone if that matters as I have already done some research and it seems it might.. Just got this awesome phone today and I would like to fix this problem if anyone could help I would appreciate it.

I am almost positive "rootboot" is not for the AT&T phone. Even if it is I would strongly suggest avoiding it. Try relocking the bootloader and running the RUU
Forgot to mention
Forgot to mention after the other actions I tried to use X-Factor to root the device and it said something to the extent that maybe adb was out of date and something about the CID sorry I am not very knowledgeable about this stuff guys..
X factor is for a completely different device, it does a temp root then supercids the device (HTC one xl)
Why don't you just unlock the boot loader and flash a recovery?

fastboot oem lock to lock bootloader.
search the forums for the HTC ONE X+ RUU for AT&T It is a .exe file. Put phone in boot loader and run it.
Finally found it after searching through google here:

I am not sure what to do after I've downloaded it. Is there some code I put in when I am in cmd and fastboot? or just run the RUU exe when the phone is in fastboot? I am out of me league, and everything was going so well with the bootloader unlock...
Thanks to all who are helping me!! :good:

Lock the boot loader using the fastboot command from my previous post. stay in bootloader and run the htc ruu (double click) while the phone is plugged in. This will hopefully revert your phone to stock.
**THE PHONE WILL REBOOT SEVERAL TIMES. LET IT. THIS IS NORMAL. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES UNPLUG IT**
I'll just leave this here.

Okay I got it to work following your instructions. Thanks so much. Normally I can figure this stuff out by goggling but I was stumped last night and freaking out! lol Thanks again.
PS. Can my At&t hox+ even be rooted? My original goal was to root the device so that I would find a workaround At&t's wifi tether subscription that apparently they make you pay for.

It certainly can be rooted, just check out the link Hasoon posted before your post.
Yes it can be rooted and is fairly simple. I would avoid the tool kit and just flash the recovery yourself ans then the super user zip file.

Also please keep in mind all this stuff- roms, kernels, recoveries are very device specific. Do not flash anything that does not explicitly state it is for the AT&T One x+.

Make sure your drivers are installed on the computer and that you are in the fastboot option in hboot, not just the bootloader. I know thats probably a duh, but just making sure. Also when you first connect it to the computer, run adb devices and make sure its seeing the devices.
It also doesn't help that the HTC Dev site is having issues giving up the .bin file after you give them your token identifier. Feel free to tag along here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1475864

Should I check to make sure adb can see the device before I pull the battery out to reboot into the bootloader?
You can have it in charge only mode with the rom booted and everything and type "adb devices" and it should spit out the serial number.
Make sure you have USB Debugging checked in settings/developer options. Amd also make sure any antivirus type security business is turned off on your computer.

Have you installed ADB tools in your system? If not do so first (ADB requires Java).
Because you are going to need ADB to proceed.
Next install TWRP as it allows sideload - CWM does not...
Next download the ROM you wish to install in your device.
Flash the kernel.
Copy the ROM to your device.
Install it using TWRP.
Hope it helps.

Keep your cool, and charge the phone for at least 12 hours or more without touching it. After sometime - the charging light will glow (probably ). Don't worry. You haven't bricked it yet
If you have relocked the phone's bootloader - I believe you can run RUU (that is official hTC ROM of your country)...
BTW don't even think about loading a custom ROM / kernel if you have relocked your bootloader
When I've put wall charger to phone it's going to swich ON after 10-15min phone it's going to turn OFF. I tried to charge my phone 8h or something like that but battery it's still empty:/ When battery was full I tried fastboot-->reboot-->off when fastboot-->recovery-->CMW but my PC doesn't see phone and I can't move any rom on it. If you have relocked your bootloader - flashing a custom kernel or unsecure kernel will brick your device. For loading a custom ROM - your bootloader must be unlocked.

Hi guys
At last I've found somebody who can repair my phone
So if you've got same problems like me:
*phone doesn't charge
*when you plug phone to wall charger or PC, phone is turned ON after 5 mins is turned OFF or restart,
probably you've got broken Kernel and I think they will use RIFF/JTAG.
I got the same as well ... Just plug in the wall charger .. when the device turn on .. use power + volume down key for approximately 15 second thin the 3 red keys in the downside of device will flash and thin restarted ..... It will charge

One huge question did you reflash the stock ROM? If you didn't reflash the stock ROM and kernel then relock the boot loader your going to be stuck on that security warning page... If this is the case re unlock the boot loader it should boot into the ROM you had before...
Use the side load feature if you really wiped everything un lock the boot loader side load the stock ROM and kernel and then once the ROM is flashed you can relock the boot loader it should boot back to factory setting with a clean ROM then run the ruu then do a factory reset on it and it should put stock recovery back on it and it will be unroofed and out of the box condition

it doesn't find anything. I haven't been able to root s-off or anything because adb cant find my device. Do I need adb files in rumrunner folder on C drive to make it recognize it and work or what the hell am I doing wrong? I have rooted and s-offed every htc device I have ever owned...this one isn't working out. It's showing as a portable media player not android device. In the past I remember when I connected the usb I had the option to select media storage or connect as android.

Have Win XP or server 2003?!?
This: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49045175
Don't know if you guys ever got this issue solved or not. I'm having the same issue S-on, cannot get adb devices command to recognize my t6spr for the life of me. on Hboot 2.46, it will detect the USB device malfunction if I put the device in fastboot mode, but thats about it. Device manager shows Unknown USB (Device Descriptor Request Failed). Tried the KB update for devices that fail enumeration on Windows 8.1 for x64 but the update package said my system is not affected so that never installed. Tried the alternative miniadb pakage previously mentioned but didnt seem to have an affect installing fastboot, adb, and drivers, across the system universally. Just not having any luck apparently. I guess I could just sell the phone Tampered and Unlocked haha with no fingerprint scanner functionality, flash ViperRom or some other stock look alike ROM. Was just really hoping to go back completely stock. At one point it time I was trying different PCs to see if it was just a system issue for me. Occasionally it seemed like if I let it sit in Fastboot AC it would eventually get detected and flip over to Fastboot USB long enough for me to push a couple commands to the phone. I have the right RUU but it dosent do me any good if the computer cant see the phone haha. Now no computer seems to recognize it. It all seemed to happen after I tried to S-Off the device with Firewater's method. Idk if I bricked something because it never worked or changed a CID or some other ID to where the USB isnt recognizable, but all I can get this phone to do is take an electric current from the USB, lol thats about it. I thought I had it fixed enough to where I knew what to do if i absolutely needed to get fastboot to recognize the phone but now, nothing.
Just a curiousity question here....a bad usb cable can produce this also...read through posts didnt see anyone trying a new cable...
