[FIX]Lost 4G After Radio/HBOOT Change - HTC Rezound

I'm just seeing how many people are affected by this if they lost their 4G connection and their phone refuses to connect to any 4G or it drops after a minute after connecting?
Option A:
Flash stock recovery (Download Here) and do a factory reset in HBOOT.
Option B:
Now Flash any RUU, GB or ICS. LEAVE EVERYTHING STOCK!. Don't flash anything yet! Now in HBOOT, do a factory reset. Do not factory reset inside of recovery! Thank you. And do not mix hboots and radios
Stuff:
GB RUU: http://goo.im/stock/vigor/ruu
ICS RUU: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...5-brings-a-handful-of-fixes-and-newer-radios/
GB Radio: http://www.mediafire.com/?6s86jwmers710o5

I was able to get my 4G back up after flashing the original RUU_Vigor_VERIZON_WWE_1.02.605.6_Radio_RS_0.95.00.1013r_3161E_9K_NV_8k_1.12_9k_1.83_V_APT_release_221502_signed

yes, the old HBOOT and the New Radios don't work well together. Go back to the GB OTA Radios and it will be solved.

I'm on the latest ICS leak with the newest HBOOT and newest Radios HBOOT 2.21

For those with over heating issues and 4G not stable here is what I did to fix my phone running Newts XxX Sense 4 RC 2.1 Rom:
I flashed the ENG HBOOT, then the old firmware patch as it is required for your ICS rom to work after flashing the ENG HBOOT.
Link to where I downloaded the ENG HBOOT and Old Firmware Patch:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1614366
After I flashed the GB Radios from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1612555
Now my phone is averaging 90-95 degrees Fahrenheit when not charging and the rom is running so much better and I have 4G back and its stable as is WiFi and 3G. So it looks like once you have S-Off this is the solution by flashing the ENG HBOOT and the old firmware patch. The overheating issues everyone is having with the ICS Radios is fixed with downgrading the radios back to GB. Hope this helps

Then you should be fine. But if you just installed "RUU_Vigor_VERIZON_WWE_1.02.605.6_Radio_RS_0.95.00. 1013r_3161E_9K_NV_8k_1.12_9k_1.83_V_APT_release_22 1502_signed" then you're actually on the latest GB HBOOT and Radios, not the ICS leak... In which case you should also now be fine. Its when mixing HBOOT 2.10/2.11 with the latest ICS Leak Radios that you have the problem
you originally described in your first post with regards to 4G connectivity.
I have not installed HBOOT 2.21 and tried them without the old radios yet - but I don't think it would work well either.

Yes It was working with that first RUU. but then I flashed the leaked RUU and now just 3G
EDIT: But I don't get this. 4G was working this morning then I changed the radio and then back and now 4G works no where besides on the GB RUU

You must still be on HBOOT 2.11 somehow. Can you boot into the bootloader and verify the HBOOT version number?

Craziness! I suppose its not beyond the realm of possibility that 4G is having issues in your area...
Can't think of any other issue - unless its literally something that just requires a full wipe to fix. If you can make a nandroid backup, it may be worthwhile to do a wipe and see if that fixes it.

Yeah. My friend has the Charge and her 4G is up. So IDK. I just flashed the GB RUU again and 4G is up and now flashing the Leaked ICS ruu but I'm going to flash it twice
Will the GB radio work on the 2.21 HBOOT possibly?

Not sure.. As I've mentioned I haven't ever loaded the 2.21 HBOOT on my phone. All I've seen are people posting problems so I've avoided it like the plague. Given that like 90% of the people with problems on the forum I've noticed are on HBOOT 2.21, I don't know why'd you keep flashing it...

Yeah I just went through all possible combinations of HBOOT 2.10, 2.11 and all radios... but I still haven't tried HBOOT 2.21 yet. Pretty much all of the combinations I tried worked fine unless it involved the latest ICS leaked radios with any non ICS leak HBOOT, in which case it didn't work well or at all.

Ya just wait till the new update comes out from a dev either in a rom or what not then flash it. That would let you update your radio.

Most of our roms have the ciq removed already....since TrevE made that little discovery a long time ago it "should" be a non issue. See below for the radio info.

^Reaper your info is a little confusing / inaccurate here^
Radio's are flashed from H-boot and are totally not rom related at all. If you're on h-boot 1.4 you just boot into bootloader with the radio on the root of your sd card named "PG86IMG.zip" and flash regardless of your rom. If you have h-boot 1.5 you are SOL and cannot flash radios with out returning to stock and taking an OTA update and re-rooting. Anyways there is a thread stickied in the development section by gu1dry with all of our available radios except the latest which just came out the other day here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193101...... Read it carefully and understand it before you flash a radio. The latest radio can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1443592 If you get a bad flash, or do it wrong, or your battery dies while you're flashing it, or you flash a gsm radio to a cdma device....YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE.
Any other relevant improvements from that OTA update the other day will be in a future update to the rom you're currently running......I believe this is what reaper24 meant, but it wasn't really worded correctly.

I have never seem a radio cooked into ROM before. I've only seem them packaged for bootloader flashing, or in the old days on the evo 4g, some you could flash with Amon RA recovery. Even then, I still never saw one cooked in a ROM.

No, it was a radio preference. It's what the person above says. If there's a radio in the ROM. It requires a bootloader flash.

You CAN flash the radio separately... but I believe you still need to lock the phone first and flash the firmware.img file inside a PH98IMG.zip at HBOOT.

Yes, you would just have to go through the procedure at HTC dev again to unlock.
to relock in fast boot at a command prompt fastboot oem lock.

yep I figured they wouldn't release ever since they announced the one series of phones.
we will not see sense 4.0 because of the HTC One Series phones.
Once those are released, we have a ten fold better chance at seeing sense 4.0..Officially..
we will be getting sense 4.0 as a ROM that's stable and nice, IMO, soon.
So the phone has to be stock, not unlocked..and I can install ics that easy? Any riskz?

Just to let u guys know the screenshot is incorrect for whatever reason. I updated to the new leak and it does have new radios. I don't know how to post a screenshot but the baseband version now shows 1.22.10.0310r, 1.22.10.0308r. Also, new PRI version is 1.16_002, 2.07_002.

I completely dissagree.
as unlocked is great, as we have root.
s-off is desirebale, and this is why,
with s-off, you can flash radio's in hboot, you can't do that with s-on, you must install the OTA, RUU.
but I do agree that unlocking us is a very good thing, but s-off does have many more benefits.
with s-off we could flash the new ICS firmware, and if you didn't like it flash back to GB OTA.
withs-on, if you flash that "leak" firmware, (or any other firmware, radio, hboot) you are now stuck on them.
The main things I miss from having an s-off phone was these,
1) flashing anything and everything I wanted, I could accept OTA, flash hboots, flash radios, whatever I wanted.
this was thanks to the XTC clip and having s-off.
i miss s-off.

Thanks for clarifying this. So what you are saying is even with the MainVer "fix" (setting to low) we can't flash a GB RUU after we flash an ICS RUU?
If so then I was misinformed or interpreted my research improperly. I was under the impression that we could still do whatever we wanted even though doing so might require additional steps.
TIA
Edit: Apparently this is looking bleak. Doesn't appear as if you can downgrade the RUU. This was apparently tried unsuccessfully as discussed in the Scott's Rom thread. Really sucks and is a great reason why S-off is needed. Not that you would want to downgrade but this is MY phone dammit'.
Edit 2: Good News. Scrosler just flashed back to a GB Rom and had no issues other then the "SD Card" issue which he stated was an "easy" fix. This still doesn't allow for a radio downgrade but apparently the new radios are still compatible with the GB ROM's. LINK

What ROM are you trying to flash after you did the Freeza AIO?
The AIO will only get the phone ready to be flashed to a 2.17 ROM.
So I run bootloader, flash the freeza. Power off, remove my microSD so I can take the PG86IMG off, button combo to bootloader, from their go to recovery, then flash say mean 3.92?

Try doing a factroy reset in Hboot. If that doesn't work, re-run whatever RUU you are currently on.

Well I certainly hope the RUU helps man. ICS on this phone is pretty screwey
yeah me too, thank you for your help
Is there a flashable zip of the gingerbread radios? Or do I need to ruu? I am S-off if that matters at all.
If you are running the latest radios for ICS, you need to be on that Hboot 2.21 or 2.25 for them to work correctly.
Thanks! I will update the HBOOT now
I recently did the same thing, flashed the leaked radio only and lost 4G. And S-Off as well. I could only get 3G and that was pretty lousy data speeds. I may have taken the longer way to fix it but I did the full RUU back to Gingerbread and the 4G was working again. I then did the full newest ICS leak and still had 4G. It's possible that you might get away with just running the full ICS leak and get your 4G back as well. Then you will have to flash the ICS JB Hboot again to benefit from the S-Off.
just to make sure I'm clear...I'm on 2.25 hboot, with s-off,3.14 firmware and the 1.22 radios from 5/7. I should be ok with reverting to gb radios right? I didn't want to switch to gb radios without full understanding.
Thanks, I believe I am back in business!

how to upgrade to ics without upgrading hboot??

so this guide wont change my hboot??
You can flash Common Sense. Im pretty sure it uses the leaked VM kernel. You can flash any ROM with hboot 1.4 except a 2.89 kernel

You can always change Hboot easily if you're S-OFF. Not a big deal at all.
Search. A member has posted multiple Hboot's for your flashing pleasure in one of the posts.

The guide will change your hboot to 1.58 since it flashes the Sprint ICS RUU, but once you are S-OFF you can flash whatever hboot you want from this post.
If you are not planning to gain S-OFF, you can only change your bootloader by flashing an RUU.

Yes, if you want 1.50 for some reason. I'd personally recommend either the engineering (ENG) bootloader if you plan to run GB and AOSP based ROM's or the JBear Sprint ICS version if you are only going to run Sense based ICS ROM's. See mpgrimm2's thread on bootloader differences for more info.

i know this is a dumb question, but in what mode do i put my phone once its plugged in for the ruu??
Fastboot USB in the bootloader is preferred.

Hboot goes with firmware.
You can't just flash a different Hboot & expect the phone to boot.
Youll need to change the firmware to the one that corresponds the hboot of your choice.

That hasn't been our experience on the CDMA model of the Evo 3D. In fact, the GB and AOSP ROM's won't boot when using the bootloader (1.58) that matches the most current CDMA firmware.
Check out this thread for extensive information on the compatibility of various bootloaders with different ROM's for the CDMA Evo 3D. And everything was tested using the most recent Sprint ICS (2.89.651.2) firmware.

What I meant to say is that a GB hboot will only work with GB firmware & ICS hboot will only work with ICS firmware.
If the above condition is not met, then the phone will not boot into the ROM. That's all I meant.
I didn't say anything about the Hboot & ROM not matching.

Not true on the Evo 3D.
With HBoot 1.5, which is a stock GB bootloader, flashed on the CDMA version we can boot GB ROM's even with the latest ICS firmware, but not with the ICS 1.58 HBoot installed.

Won't the partitions be almost completely different between GB & ICS?

No. They are different between the CDMA and GSM models because the CDMA version has WiMax 4G and the GSM version doesn't, but the same between GB, ICS and JB. We use the same wipe methods regardless of what version of Android is being installed.
