[Q] ICS OTA over ICS leak non root? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

When ICS is offically released by AT&T will i have to revert back to GB then update? or will i be able to just do a OTA update since I am using a non rooted ICS leak

I believe you would just be able to update it..otherwise if you where on a real ics you wouldn't be able to revert a back up of gingerbread while your on the ics leak...I could be wrong though...

U will probably have to revert, that leak wasn't "officially" supposed to released. Many speculate, myself included, that it was a controlled leak. Since however it is not an official release it probably doesn't even contain the ability to OTA. I am 90% sure u will have to revert

If this plays out like the Vivid leaks/OTA update, you would likely have to revert, It seemed if you were on an ICS leak you did not get the update notice, if you reverted, you got the notice no problems.

So I Rooted, What Happens to ICS OTA?

Hey guys/gals, so I recently rooted my WiFi tab using this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239185
My question is, once the OTA ICS update rolls around from Samsung what will happen to my device?
Thanks.
your device will get android 4.0...
If you allow the ICS update, it will update you to ICS but remove your root. If you flash a custom ROM then you won't get the ICS update until you go back to stock.
or until we get custom ICS roms. Which at the rate development of them is going in xda, may be before the ota release.

Yeah, I have been on GB with my Samsung Captivate for over 3 months and there is no eta yet for an official update to GB yet.
often people will root the ota to keep root. i would imagine we will have ics roms before samsung releases it.

[Q] Will ICS 210 leak still get the OTA update?

I am on the 210 leak and was wondering if anybody knows whether or not I will still get the OTA updates or not. Thanks.
My best guess is no, you won't. The .211 official leak is everywhere and is relatively easy to sideload. That's the one you want to be on.

That's what I figured since when I go to system updates it tells me that my device is up to date. I know I could get .211 but wanted to avoid having to do a wipe of the phone. thanks.

Whats the likely hood that HTC/Sprint will skip 4.0.4 & jump directly to an 4.1 OTA?

Whats the likely hood that HTC/Sprint will skip 4.0.4 & jump directly to an 4.1 OTA? I sure hope their not wasting... i mean spending time getting 4.0.4 working on this bad ass phone. HTC, please keep up with if not ahead of the Joneses.
I would prefer it if they were to work on bug fixes first in order to get everything at its best before updating to JB. After this OTA they're almost there.
0%. They've been working 4.0.4, they won't scrap it. Also changes in a lot of places still apply to a new OS version.

ota on leak possible

If you are stock but running leak will you get OTA?
I don't think so. That 7MB update comes along first and inspects your phone. Anything other than stock GB will fail. Then it allows the ICS OTA to come.

Question about old ICS leaks

I remember there were some leaked ICS updates rolling around before the official OTA update. I have been very unhappy with my RAZR since the OTA and have managed to get Verizon to send me a replacement RAZR that doesn't have the ICS update pre loaded.
My question: Can anyone point me in a direction that explains or reviews which ICS leaks are able to be freely be downgraded to GB?(which ICS leaks share the same bootloader as its GB predecessor)
The only reason I ask is I have no reason to ever accept the OTA without Adobe Flash working.. But if it works on a prior leak I may see how stable they are... I just need to know that if it doesn't work, I can safely go back to GB and be happy.
I appreciate any help with this!
Sent from my DROID RAZR
Flash is working on .211 build for me, stock browser it is buggy but in other ones it is smooth, I prefer chrome, which will be preinstalled in the next update (.215+)
