[Q] How much battery life does flashing an optimized ROM add? - HTC Amaze 4G

Hi, I know battery life is super dependent on usage patterns, but can you guys chime in on how much battery life these "tweaked" ROMS are adding?
Some info is better than none. Are we talking in the range of 10% or more in the range of say, 50% better?
Same question for adding an aftermarket battery like the Anker. Are your run times improving by 10% or much more than the extra mAH would suggest?
Thanks

In my experience about 10-25% depending on the room.

Extended battery with higher mAh value?

Hi All,
I was wondering if it is possible to use a battery for the Hero with higher mAh value so that it lasts longer? The stock battery is just 1350mAh while I have seen a thread in which someone was using a 2400mAh battery on an HTC Dream!! If that is possible on Hero as well, it'd be a biiiig WOWWW!!!
Any comments??
Any comments guys?!?!

Yes it is always possible but you take the risk of voiding your warranty + running higher temperature. I used to have 2x capacity battery in my previous HTC phones and they all end up bloated after some time.
So, it is not safe at all!!?? I would love to have a longer lasting battery though Mine is not too bad looking at how much I use my phone... but needs charging everyday and I don't have WiFi on. I would like something that needs charging at least every other day.
The standard size 1550mAh battery looks good but it doesn't seem much more powerful than the hero's stock battery. How much of a difference would it make? Or it designed more to be a replacement than an upgrade?
It's about 15% higher capacity that the original, so that will equate to at best a 15% longer battery life. If the stock battery barely gets you through the day, I'd say it's an upgrade!
I had a Mugen power battery for my HTC Shift, and it was great. I think I'll invest in the 1550mAh version as it will just give me that little bit more juice, and won't affect the form factor of the phone - the large battery will make it far too bulky IMHO and for the price I can get 2.5 1550mAh versions!
Regards,
Dave
Don't forget your Mugen Power Coupon Codes, I just saved 5.00% on my purchase.
Current working code: 5OFF2010
Enjoy
If that is no longer valid just google for a new code, that show I got mine

Another huge bump? Come on, this thread is coming up for a year old.

Battery Problem

I have flashed over 5 roms now and the biggest problem i'm seeing is that the battery drains really fast on the wm 6.5 roms. I was wondering if there is a way to prevent this problem or a way that can help reduce this problem?? Thank you!
I think battery drain is relative to user's opinion. Some might say 2 days of battery life is not enough, and some other might say one full day battery life is normal.
There are many ways to minimize battery consumption. Minimal battery consumption means longer battery life. You may try WMLongLife (adds little bit more battery life, in my device). There's also a thread about battery life tips floating in this forum. I forgot who wrote it. It's a very well-written thread. You may search for it.

[Q] best extended battery

Hey guys,
I am looking to buy an extended battery for my atrix cause it can't last one day. What is the best extended battery? I want one that is reliable and lasts a long time, physical size doesn't matter.
Thx in advance guys
P.s. the atrix community is the best!!!
There are lots of things you can do to improve battery life.
You can set up voltage profiles and run battery calibrations. You could also flash a custom ROM that has good battery performance. I recommend Neutrino EE
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398819
i and a friends in other forum give some configs for the battery extend life, we like to use tasker and setCPU to configures some tasks for toggle 2G and kill some apps and set CPU for underclock when smartphone turn off screen .... i won 2 days and some 10 hours for example with this configuration and with radio european and rom morrisoft v0.9
The biggest drain on your battery is Screen On time. I recommend you tweak your levels and see if it betters your battery life before you spend your hard earned money.
Sent from my MB860 CM7 olympus always latest nightly 37p Radio.
ok, I understand there are things I can do to make my battery last longer (I have tried a lot of the tips you guys have posted). I want to spend my money on a bigger battery and I wanted advice one which extended battery is the best, not how to make my current battery last longer.
Please keep the posts relevant to what I am asking for
sorry, going to have to jump on the improved battery life bandwagon.
if you're willing to post your battery usage graph that shows wifi/gps/awake/screen on/charging, we could make some informed recommendations...

I don't know how to do that. If you explain to me how to do that I will, but I still want advice on what extended battery is the best and if there are cases that will fit with it in.
I am still waiting on some advice.

Calling All Developers

Plenty of focus on all ROMs have been performance and battery life has not been so good. Request a ROM that focuses on battery life, for those that are away from a charger during a 14 hr. work day.

Have you thought about purchasing an extended battery ?
Or
Simply limit your processor, brightness, radio connectivity, and use am android firewall to limit which apps can and can't use data/WiFi. Also ensure you have good settings in your task manager

I get 2-3 days out of my 2400mAh-battery, using MIUI and the forbidden kernel.
I can't complain at all about battery life.
Everything runs silky smooth at 192/1180mHz - xondemand
A little undervolting and a little gpu underclock.
I think poor battery life is more "user error" than something to call dev attention for.
There are plenty of guides on how to maximize battery life on the web and on xda.
2 tips from me, because many guides get it wrong or fail to mention:
- This app lets you schedule autosync. With some care and thought when setting it up, you can be always up to date without your phone snycing all the time. If you need to be in second-precise sync-though, it's not for you.
- Wifi off @ screen off is a myth. I have set my wifi to be on all time for months now and haven't noticed any decrease in battery life. If anything, it's better now.
I use mwakious, forbidden kernel at 1512 mhz and an anker 1900mah battery and get about 19-24 hours no problem
Try using Juice Defender too
I've also noticed keeping wifi connected all day is drastically less harsh on the battery than 3g.
I get awesome battery life with mentioned banned kernel and meanrom. I just switched to another rom and not sure about battery life there yet or i'd share

[Q] Getting the most out of new Samsung 2000mAh Bat

Hi
I just received my new 2000mAh Samsung replacement battery. When I say "getting the most" from it, I mean get the best performance and prolonging it's life. Now I've read about many myths regarding Li-ion batteries. Some say that upon first use you should do a full discharge and recharge cycles for at least 5 times. Some say that you should never allow it to discharge below 50%.. Some recommend to charge it only when the phone is in shutdown... Some say you should not charge it all the way to 100%...
What do you guys say based on your experience? Does this bat need a full charging cycles? What is considered a full cycle? Is anyone here using this bat? Did you notice any major difference compared to the stock bat?
Thank you for your cooperation

Mate there are tons of information regarding battery life here on XDA. In most cases it depends on your ROM and Kernel as well as usage. You can do a search but for starters you can try here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1909996. I personally have the 2000mAh battery and yes there is a very noticeable difference compared to stock battery. It is probably best to fully charge your battery and let it run all the way down for at least 2 cycles. If you want to get more technical and tweak settings you can visit the thread I posted or do a search if this is not what you are looking for.
Just do what I do, don't care. Of course I don't want my phone dead around noon. That's why I use betterbatterystats, I just look for wakelocks and processes which eat up battery. That's it! It obsesses you if you always want to improve. Getting rid of wakelocks and stuff is all you want. Trust me, focus on not caring about the battery, find a ROM you like charge cycle it a few days and battery is fine.
