HTC 3D Home for ICS - HTC Amaze 4G

So after the RUU update I had noticed my 3D tilt effect had been lost, using an SQLite editor wasn't allowing me to modify the settings.db that controls the 3D home effect even with root.
For those who are interested in this mod I figured I'd give a short writeup...
Disclaimer: not responsible for bricked blah blah bleh bloo blah...
Use Root Explorer/Androzip Root Filemanager/ any other file manager with r/w priveleges
Navigate out of your SD and into the folder labeled Data
Find the sub-folder Data
Find com.android.providers.settings and then select databases
Copy the settings.db file to your SD card
Open with your file explorer and select System and then HTC_3D_Home_Screen from the list
Edit the value of the record from 0 to 1
Copy the file back to the Data/Data/com.android.providers.setting/databases folder and overwrite the original settings.db
Reboot into recovery and fix permissions
Reboot into success!

I'm not running ICS, running RC1.7, and had this issue. Works I'm happy.

I installed a couple of Sense 3.6 skins from the Sensation forums and by doing so it gave me the 3d on the clock and widgets.

Thanks. Worked great.

Really ? You guys were missing the 3D Home feature ? I can't possibly see losing any sleep over missing that. You get tired of it in like 5 seconds...

[CM7] Free up System Rom space on Touchpad?

I'm currently running CM7 Xron ROM and I'm aware that it's 200+ MB on it's own. Any ideas how I can free some space up for an instance like this?

Root explorer. Under system/app delete cmwallpapers.apk for gaining 5mb in system. I also delete file manager, email, protips,rom manager, cyanbread(as long as your using the green theme your ok).
That should give you more then 15mb right there.
Also make sure cm setting/application/install location is set to automatic, moving larger games to SD card automagically.
You can try a cache cleaner, it check music,maps and other hogs too.

[app]aosp mms app

I have been working on this for a little bit. I have taken the Android 4 ICS Messaging app from Market which I think was previously posted and modified it. It will now allow you to receive MMS pretty flawlessly. Me and a few other people were having problems getting MMS to download most of the time.
Installation Instructions(ROOT NEEDED)
1. Download the MMS.apk to your sdcard
2. Using Root Explorer or your favorite Root File Browser, navigate to /system/app/ and rename Mms.apk to Mms.apk.bak
3. Copy the downloaded Mms.apk from /sdcard/ to /system/app/
4. If using Root Explorer, long-click Mms.apk and select Permissions. Make the permissions rw-r--r--
5. Long-click Mms.apk again and select change owner at the bottom. Select ROOT for each drop down
6. Reboot your phone and your good to go
7. You might have a lockup or 2 for Messaging app at first but should be good after that. If you keep getting lock ups(FCs), goto Manage Apps, select Messaging, click Force Stop and Clear Data
*******I DO NOT TAKE CREDIT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THIS APP. THAT GOES TO TIM HUTT FOR ALLOWING US TO HAVE THIS. I JUST MODIFIED THE APK TO SUITE THE i717********

I'd like to see the difference before I swap.
Also maybe getting a gingerbread keyboard modified to run on ICS also would be appreciated

Using Leeroid's Tweaks you can change your clock color to #ffd9b2ff which is what I have in the screen shots. Other colors that match the theme are #ffBAF3C3 (green) #ffFFCBCF (pink) #ffA9D3C7 (aqua)

Looks good, I just did the S=Off to the House Boss' phone last night and installed NRGZ' ICS ROM and your skin/theme and she's really digging it... even with as much I work on my own devices, I never forget the number 1 rule "Happy Wife = Happy Life"

Can you Help identify this app?

I saved a note app in titanium, but I don't have any idea how to identify it to install it. And by that I mean, while titanium does install it, it force closes.
Any idea where I can find this app?
It looks like this in the drawer, bottom left.

"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

}
In Titanium, it looks like it has 3 files to make it function.
It starts off like this.
But always ends up like this.
Blah. The titanium image is at the bottom. My bad.
The reason you are getting FC is probably because the libs are not installed. I'll attach a zip with the apks and libs. Just push the libs to system\lib through root explorer and set permissions to rw-r-r. Reinstall the apks with titanium without data and reboot. Should work. Good luck!
HTC Notes App
That's the HTC Notes app that seems to be quite popular.
Do I win anything for identifying it?
Here's some bonus info for you.
ramjet73
I believe that's the HTC Notes app. It comes with the ROMs. I'm not sure why you are getting the FCs. Maybe the app has to be installed to /system/app and the permissions might need to be fixed (usually rw-r--r--).
Edit: They beat me to it. I guess that's what I get for loading the page and then leaving to put my kid to bed.
Thanks everyone! Now I can start up my journal entries with this again.

[TRICK] How To Make The Lockscreen Transparent *super easy*

locate (or create) the following file and disable the read permissions
/data/data/com.cooliris.media/files/zzzzzz_lockscreen_wallpaper.jpg
(to locate/create and edit the above file permissions use a file manager app able to navigate the /data folder.
NOTE: Manual edit of files in /data folder require root permissions so the Andriod system must be rooted first
NOTE2: This trick works on Samsung Galaxy Y stock ROM, on which the system looks for the file zzzzzz_lockscreen_wallpaper.jpg located in /data/data/com.cooliris.media/files to be used as lockscreen wallpaper. Other ROMs might look for different filename and/or different location.)
That's it!

As side note I want to add that my first read about this topic was, about two weeks ago, a thread started by XDA member recognized contributor marcussmith2626 more than one year ago (How To Make The Lockscreen Transparent) which explains a more sophisticated way to get the lockscreen transparent and that might work on a variety of ROM and devices.
Then I accidentally discovered the above trick by my own (I forgot to set the permissions after replacing the jpg file) and I decided to share it here even though I don't know if anyone had posted the same trick before as comment at the marcussmith2626 thread or anywhere else in XDA or the Internet virtual space
wooooow,awesome:laugh:
thnx for rhis.as easy and as simple as it can ever beeee.so cooooool
nice trick
Thanks for your guide its very very easy =D
