Stock rom and updates? will it work

my phone is rooted and i just put the stock rom on it (Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.17.651.5_odex.zip) after having a different rom my question is when ICS update comes in 2 weeks (for sprint users in the usa) will the update work and be applied? or will i just get an error?
I believe you will also have to relock your bootloader and install the stock ruu which puts the stock recovery on.
I recommend that you wait until a dev comes out with a custom based off the ota. It will be more awesome.

That Sucks is there any way I could go back to stock stock so I can update threw HTC when released

NEVER EVER take an update when you are rooted. Every single guide to rooting tells you this.
There is no need to relock to take the update when it comes out. Just wait about an hour, and someone on here will have a flashable version of the stock rooted rom. Flash it like any other rom, simple as that, no need to worry about bricking.
Well I don't really care about it not being rooted any more

Just find the stock RUU for your phone.
Depending on whether your CDMA or GSM and what carrier.
It shouldn't be hard. Just use the search.
Then follow the instructions to flash it, make sure you have the stock HTC recovery and relock the bootloader.
Your phone will be stock!

Ah, no problem, you should be fine.
When flashing the stock RUU, if done properly, you should automatically get the stock recovery.

that appears to be the latest stock rooted firmware for sprint. found it in the sprint development. suppose you could flash either deodexed or odexed lf9 or lg2 through cwm and have your stock.
:good:

OTA update?

I have my Sprint evo 3D rooted and running a rom as a daily driver.. But I was wondering if I were to do the sprint official OTA update.. Will I lose root? And is it safe to do the sprint OTA to my rooted evo?

You will lose root, but if you are s-off that will remain. Also is it safe to update but you will have to reroot alover again. Safest bet would be waiting for someone to make a rooted stock rom of ICS.
If you are s-off, you can ruu back to stock, take the ota, and keep s-off. See Ramjet's steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29764326
If you are s-on, you should get s-off first.

i actually was thinking about doing the ota update and not have root well cause the evo 3d is my mom phone now so its no point of her actually having root access when she only uses her phone for text and calls ..so i would have to do ruu to stock then do the ota.. ? im already on a rom and rooted so im asking can i just do the update from this custom rom im already on?

Maybe if you are using the stock recovery. If you don't want it rooted, the easiest way is to lock the bootloader, run a GB ruu (which puts you at stock), then let the ROM take the ota. This will guarantee that you only have Sprint code on your Mom's phone.

im so lazy to do all of that lol i thought i can just do the ota update ..but then again i iam on a ics based rom for the evo 3d

Once an ruu of the new ota comes out, you'll just have to lock and then run it.

Until the ruu is officially released, you're kinda stuck. As an alternative, you can download the stock ota rom that virus posted in the development forum. It's the same 100% stock sprint software, with root access
