[Q] Rollback from Clean ROM ICS to GB - HTC Rezound

I am on Clean ROM ICS, with the leak, but want to go back to stock and start the HTC Dev process over for GB. What do I need to do step by step? Is there a guide?
At work, so I don't have much time to search. So if can assist I'd really appreciate it.

Are you on Clean Rom with the old Firmware patch?

Are you S-off ? If so did you take their HBoot or still using the stock leak hboot ? If your using their Hboot, then just download the 2.011xxxxxx OTA RUU connect phone and while in bootloader in fastboot run the RUU exe . It will ask you a few prompts .. then flash your phone .
If still on stock leak hboot.. have to relock so from a command prompt type while phone is in fastboot.. type fastboot oem lock . Phone will relock then you can run the RUU from there.
If not S-off and your on the leak , there is no way to go back to RUU GB until you S-off.

I feel kinda dumb.... I am on the first ICS leak... is that what you guys mean? The first thing Scott released with that lengthy procedure to get it running.

No reason to feel dumb, but if you haven't performed the S-off procedure you can't downgrade using the GB RUU. I think you can just go back to running GB roms though, just need a patch to fix the SD card issue , but you will still have the leak Firmware and Radios.

If I s-off... should I dare try, then downgrading is a real possibility?

Don't feel dumb dude. I have had my Rezound for a month and on the ICS leak for about 3 weeks. Tried Evita then restored my ICS leak and I am still confused on all the firmwares and patches and whatever else. And somehow I successfully did all that without any problems. It seems every time I read something, it contradicts what I thought beforehand.

How to return to complete stock?

This might be a dumb question but how do i return the rezound to complete 100% stock? thanks
If you never flashed ics ruu leak you can relock and use gb ruu.. if you did ics ruu, then best you can do is a gb Rom...ics not out yet...so gb is the ofical stock.

if you are running leaked ics ruu, then best you can do is back to gb stock rooted rom.

Don't forget to flash the GB SD Fix. I am having some difficulties locating a link for it.

Flash that after flashing the rom but before flashing kernel.
thanks for quick reply. how do i flash, im new to rezound.
If one changed the bootloader to be ra-vigor,
then how does one put back the stock bootloader?

Ok good, just go through reading on how to flash custom roms, kernels, & AmonRA 3.15.
Once you read up and I mean READ you shouldn't have any issues if you decide to go to custom roms. Should be able to fix anything with the device once you have went through at least 3 custom rom flashes. I suggest one of the ICS roms as your first flash as it's rather straightforward vs rolling back to gingerbread from the RUU.
I thought the phone would say that you're re-locked if you tried to re-lock it. If that's the case, is there a way to revert that back to a "locked" status?

Only way for that to happen is if we get S-off for the device. Sounds like a method is done testing for the Rezound so a matter of them releasing it .
This doesn't return you to the old radios if you updated them, does it?
I have had bluetooth issues since going to the leaked firmware and ICS. Flashed everything multiple times, etc, etc with no improvements.
If there is a way to get back old radios and GB, or if this IS the way, I'll be ecstatic (or ex-static pun). From what I read I thought you couldn't get back to original radios.
Is this the solution to returning to old firmware?
Only way is with s-off and running a gb ruu. Doing those 2 things will give you back the gb radio.
You can run gb Roms until then....requires a sd card patch, check the op of a Rom and it explains it there. Might give a little better performance until s off is released.

Ok, silly questions, unlocked, s-off now ready to flash

Ok I'm all set now, I got everything flashed, but now I sill have question.
I started with the ENG H boot then I wen to the safer hacked one.
I'm looking for ROMS now and they have a PH98IMG file. Is that the kernel or updated firmware? I wouldn't want to flash different firmware right?
also what about the old firmware patch for ICS roms?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614180
Do I need to be using that as Im still on the GM H boot?
and finally what about mainver errors? since Im s off will that still warn me?
I just want to be careful not to do anything I shouldn't now that most of the safety nets are gone.
Also sorry of my questions are silly, its late at work and I've been starting at this screen all day. Its time to go.
thanks

ROMs generally will never have firmware present unless it specifically states otherwise (perhaps somebody will release one after an OTA if there's a new firmware update). Prior to last week, we all had S-ON (well most of us) so all ROMs came with a script that would dump the boot.img (kernel and RAMdisk) into a PH98IMG.zip, then reboot to bootloader so you can flash it.
Use the old firmware patch for ICS ROMs only if you are on HBOOT 2.11 or lower.
I'm not sure about mainver issues... I don't think they matter now... but if you do get that error there's a simple fix thats been around for awhile.
I am on 2.11 so I would need the patch. Is it ok to use even it I'm not on am ics Rom, should I flash it just in case or wait until I need it.
Yeah I was kinda thinking the same thing about the mainver. Not sure either though

The patch is apart of the system so you only flash it when you are going to run a ics Rom based on the ics firmware. You already have the patch files in the Rom you are running if its GB. But when you flash a new Rom the system is wiped which is why you need to flash the patch. I hope I explained that ok.

I understand, its ok. You right though dont know what I was thinking, of course the system gets wiped.
Im debating which ROM to run now. I was going to go with one of the BAMFs, but I also would mind a senseless ROM either.
Is it wrong that I actually kinda like Sense, I just wish it didnt bog the phone at times.
Also I thinking its probably best to say on the 2.11 firmware, that way I can still run GB if I want and go to ICS ROMS too if I want with the patch.
I like sense too especially since this is my first HTC phone so its something different for me. I had Motorola's in the past. I'm on GB firmware with the eng hboot and running ics Clean Rom.

Well Sense is certainly an upgrade for me from TouchWiz....I miss a few things but overall it is better...
I think you would be happy with CleanROM, extremely fast and reliable ICS build. You would never know it wasn't stock.

You have to be rooted to acquire s-off. Up until this point you had to be unlocked to acquire root. Now, if you are s-off you can root without unlocking. It's a vicious circle! Lol!

What do I need to do to be ready for ICS OTA update?

As the title states, I'm just curious what I need to have done to be ready for the OTA update.
Currently I'm on the ICS leaked firmware, running CleanROM 4.3. Do I need to S-Off?
I would just wait until it gets incorporated into CleanRom after the official version comes out.
——— On Rezound with Tapatalk
I would think you would need to s-off so you could RUU back to gingerbread. Then you could receive an update.
You don't do anything. Let our great devs update their coding based off OTA. It's usually a good idea to not take OTAs right away. Never know what kind of hidden security patches may be included. I would hold off until you hear some news pertaining to what the update provides and if it's safe to flash.

I'm with the original poster. I would like to know if there is step by step instructions on how to unroot my phone if I need to to get the update. Or would just relocking be enough to get it? I'm currently on cleanrom de 1.2. Also, are we supposed to get sense 4.0 or 3.6 with this, or does anybody know?

I agree and wouldn't sweat it at all. Once it becomes official the devs will do what they do and we'll have plenty of options for the upgrade.
to actually answer the question that was asked, the easiest way is to just flash the leaked or stock RUU if that's what you want. you won't lose s-off, and you'll be updated like anyone else. You won't be root, of course, since it's a stock ruu. you'll still be able to flash a non stock rom later, load amon-ra, etc.
there may be a rooted stock rom out there that i don't know about that will do the same for you. i've not dug too heavily into the stock rom scene, since i prefer a rom with a lot of features.

The only thing I would do for now is to S-Off just in case this new update makes it impossible to S-Off after updating the system. As others have said you should wait until after Devs have time to play around with the OTA and incorporate it into ROMs before going ahead and flashing it.
S-off first, then just run the most current official gb ruu and don't unlock it or change recovery until after you have the ota update. I will personally wait for the official ics ruu (probably from football) and then run that and start from scratch.

so i'm on CleanRom 4.3 standard, unlocked and rooted, s-on, stock firmware.
can you get s-off from here?
this root/unlock buisness is cray maybe I need to give up..
I kinda want to be ready for the ICS OTA but I guess I might as well wait for CleanROM to be updated. But then am I going to need s-off at all ever?
what do
Since you didn't do the Leak, You don't need S-OFF. if you don't want it.
Just wait until the Dev releases it and forget about the OTA.

Need to go back to stock. Help :)

Right now im running a sense 4 rom, with an unlocked bootloader. I need to go back to stock sense 3.5 for someone because im selling the phone. My phone is also S-On. I relocked and tried flashing the latest gingerbread RUU but got Error [140] BootLoader version problem. Any ideas guys?
If you ran a Ics ruu leak the Best you can do is run a gb Rom. If you s off you can run the gingerbread ruu. This is why so many people wanted s off...now they can flash leaked ruu and radios upgrading or downgrading easily.
Sent from my Rezound
Ok so im guessing im on the latest ICS leak, I can run a GB Rom with no problems?
If you ran an ics ruu, you will need a sd card fix since the.mount points of the sd card have changed from gingerbread to ICS

Alright, ill find one.
Edit - If I want to go back to 100% stock I gain s-off, then what, flash an old ruu? Anyone wanna give me some simple instructions?

Hey the wire trick isn't bad just make sure you aren't touching the exposed wire. and the end that goes in the hole make sure it's touching the contact. Then touch the other indicated point for a moment then take it of count one-thousand two-tho then touch it again then. The whole time you keep the other end in the hole on the contact. If you mess up it will just keep telling you to try again. Only bad thing is if you touch the ends of the wire, make sure it's insulated.

just s-off'd now what any help would b great

Don't unlock again! Also, you should be getting the ota soon. That will bring you up to date. As the other reply said, the RUU is available for you to flash instead of waiting. The thread below, in General, has a bunch of good stuff as well as links to files in post #3.

That link should tell you all you need to know. To answer your questions here though, you will have to be completely stock to get the ota.
If you run the ota RUU it will put all new ICS firmware (hboot, radios, stock rcovery) on your phone. You stay s-off, so from there you flash amonra again and then the rom of your choice. You won't be rooted until you flash a rooted rom...or you could flash the SuperSU zipfile in post#3 at that link...thanks to Ashton! You don't have to flash the JB hboot. The advantage of jb hboot is that it allows the use of fastboot commands to flash things like recovery.img. I kept the stock hboot. Everything I've needed i've been able to get in ph98img.zip files...(like amonra).
Here's what I did today,http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29685463 I'd probably recommend my upgrade path. It was pretty straight forward.

Just to anyone worried abt doing the wire trick to get s-off really it sounds a lot more complicated than it truely is......I got it on my first try and took abt 4 min from start to finish......and this coming from a guy when he was born computers were the size of dump trucks and the Beatles were still together......
