I am thinking of picking up a p500h and using it as a gps and mp3 players they are only 99$ here.
But I would like to turn the phone off do it will not use any battery.but if I do it turns of blue tooth also
(airplane mode).if I root can I uninstall or stop the phone from ever starting? Maybe uninstall phone.apk?
Thanks for any help
Its not a gps device or mp3 player, its a smartphone...deleting phone.apk will create a FC and you wont even be able to use the gps or music player function...

Just by a cheaper phone without touch which has both the features
Sent from my LG-P500 using Tapatalk
Some smart phones have the ability to turn off the phone radio so it will not search for signal and kill the battery while leaving Bluetooth and wifi and Gps usable.some need the phone on to start the Gps then the radio can be turned off and the Gps will keep going.
I am hoping that some one here knows a way I can get the phone radio off and use everything else.
Finding an Android pda with a good Gps and all the features of the p500 for under a $100 is next to impossible.and I kinda like this phone all in all.so if it can be done it's a good deal for me.

Simple solution ; flash baseband not compatible with your rom. Everything will work but GSM. Hit thanks if i helped
The phone I an looking at getting is gsm and hspa.will flashing the wrong base band disable both? If I re name the phone.apk will that work as good/well? Any other way to accomplish phone off with Bluetooth on?
What about use it with no SIM card. Does it do what you want?
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
No even with out a Sim card the phone is still active and allows access to networks so you can make emergency calls.it's a feature they don't advertise much but all cell phones must be able to dial 911. On a network or not.
I could be wrong but my old phones worked that way.

You're right... I knew I was missing something
I have been able to convince someone to rename the phone.apk. It appears to work the same as air plane mode as there is no cell standby shown in battery usage just phone standby (which is really just device standby).so far every thing seems to work fine Bluetooth works wifi works and most functions that access the phone radio FC error.(checking mobile operators etc.).
so just renaming the phone.apk is an effective option to disable the phone and still have Bluetooth for use.
Can anyone suggest a minimal ROM for Canada hspa phone?

I have been having an issue with WiFi where it won't disconnect when leaving a hotspot. The device shows that it is still connected even though I'm miles from the router and won't pick up 3G. I performed a hard reset and on a fresh load everything appeared to be fine. When I walked out of WiFi range 3G picked up immediately. This morning, the issue is back.
Based upon doing a factory reset and it working, I believe it must be an app issue. Does anyone know of any apps that would cause a wifi lock or otherwise prevent the hand-off? I have over 150 apps installed and would prefer not to go one by one if someone can point me to any known issues.

how did you get to that point? did you install the pre-rooted updated ROM? if so did you also apply the radio update? (i really don't know if it needed done separately from the ROM, but i know there was a radio update included with the OTA)

I followed the guide at the following link and it worked perfectly for me. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1770501
Thinking through this further I did restore the wifi ssids from a titanium backup. TB restores data only - could there be an issue with that? I'm just really puzzled here.
I just did more testing. If I turn "Best Wi-Fi Performance" off I can get the device to switch to 3g when I'm out of range. I'd like to retain this setting but it obviously doesn't handoff correctly. Is there a timeout setting somewhere?

I have had the same issue and it resolved after rebooting. But it came back once I let the phone idle for sometime. I have to restart the wifi for it to start working again!! I don't know much about this.. but its similar to the smartsync problem with One X.. except that the wifi disconnects every time the phone idles for a few minutes! Anyone else had this problem?

Try turning WiFi security off....

I had the same problem. Fixed it by turning off wifi, unchecking the "Use DLNA if DHCP is not available" setting, then turning wifi back on.
Faulty device
I tried all of those combinations but neither worked. Took the cell to a VZW store and they replaced it. Everything is good with this one, so the old was just faulty. Are you guys using any screen protectors or cases?

When this happens, go to advanced Wifi settings and check your IP. Most likely you have a 169. address and no useful default gateway. This generally happens when DLNA IP option is enabled and your DHCP server isn't fast enough for the [bad] rom settings provided by HTC. If that's the case, the just disable that option and cycle Wifi.
im having a problem as well just got my dna yesterday and it seems when its asleep for a bit i awake it and then disconnects flashes to 4g connected back to my network but i have no activity at that moment then i have turn wifi off and on to get it back
i know its not my network no other problems with over 5 other devices and never had a problem with any phone for years
My girlfriend has this issue with her DNA. They replaced it with a brand new one, same issue. We have a wireless router that has 3 laptops, another phone, two tablets plus my friends phones and tablets when they come over, no issues for anyone. But the two DNA's we have tried, do.
Connects, and then it says it is connected but stops working after a short time. Shows that it is connected but anything that requires internet sits there spinning. Disable Wifi and it kicks over to 4G and emails and stuff starts flooding in. Go into Wifi settings and turn it back on, and it seems like it keeps turning itself on and off, like it is stuck in a loop.
Both DNA's, same exact issue. BOth stock, non-root, both have had hard resets, nothing seems to fix it. Some searching on Google says that the issue, while not common, it's all that un-common either. Seems to be an issue with the phone itself.

it really isn't a big deal. If you have to return it for any reason bricking it or reverting it to stock isn't a problem and in all the years I've been working with Android, out of tens of thousands of users that I've had exposure to, I've never once have i heard of a carrier denying warranty work because of a phone being modified. they're generally just not smart enough to even know how to check if they even care to check. The only thing that I've heard about is people walking into store and telling them that the phone has been modified. In that case they will use it against you. Anyway you're better off with a third party ROM and a better kernel for this phone.
Used FXR from the market and fixed my wifi issues.

Went back to vzw, they said that HTC knows of the problem, it is software related but no eta on the fix. Not wishing for another thunderbolt debacle, she exchanged it for a RAZR HD.

I tried it exactly how you said to, disabled the DLNA option, turned off then on my Wi-Fi, and boom, started working again. I thought my phone could have been faulty, but I bet anyone who tries this will see their issue fixed.

I'm having the same problem but the DLNA option was already turned off by default. Wifi works right after a restart and then stops working a short time later. Once it stops working, I get a blank screen when I try to view the available wireless networks, even though this screen was populated with multiple networks previously. Frequently, I get a "Process com.android.settings isn't responding" message. I had these exact issues with my first DNA and Verizon sent me a replacement. Same issues with the replacement. Anyone else experiencing this?
I have had my Omate Truesmart for about two weeks now and I have loved it. When I turned my watch on this morning the bluetooth refuses to turn on. It was working last night but this morning it won't stay on. I have tried from the notification bar and from the settings wireless and networks. Neither approach works. When I slide the toggle to on from settings it immediately jumps back to off.

Do you have recovery?
If you have recovery, wipe cache and dalvik cache and then try...
You could have same problems like many other.
If wiping won't to the job, it could be hardware issue, maybe to open it and check connections.
But contact Loki first...maybe he has better idea...

Loki suggested on G+ to try disabling Quick Boot, then rebooting.
It's in Settings>System>Accessibility
Yes, you have to turn off quick boot to recover bluetooth, or pull the battery or let the battery run all the way down. Otherwise it doesn't really reboot, and Bluetooth will still not work.

Just for reference. This did solve the problem. I am now back up and running. In regards to network access unavailable I had solved that with mine since I have it paired with Glass I had to enable bluetooth tethering. Then the error went away then the problem is that it always asked to connect and I had to manually disconnect it otherwise it would severely drain my battery.
I have also tried enabling Bluetooth tethering but still cannot connect. I don't seem to be able to connect with my laptop either. I can't send files at all. I might just have to be patient and wait for an update.
I am using the latest cm nightlies and Ubuntu 13.10 if it makes any difference.

That's the only tethering that works. Can't do it they other way (x201 > phone > internet) so it's still broken really.

I've heard that this watch and the TS is pretty much the same watch. I'm having trouble with connecting with BT with my HTC One XL. I tried connecting a BT headset to it and it paired and connected. When I tried my laptop and my phone, they pair, but immediately disconnect; or rather, they don't connect at all in the first place. Has anyone had, and resolved, this issue with the Omate?
The BT issues affect ALL x201 smartwatches. So if it gets fixed on any x201, this forum will go nuts with folks applying the fix.

I saw a video from Cnet with the Omate and that BT icon at the top of the screen showed that it was connected... Can the TS's the people on XDA at least connect to their phones through BT or is that an on & off thing for all of these watches? Ugh.. Bluetooth also suddenly stopped working for me. And it is not possible to turn it on. To make things more interesting - I didn't install anything on my omate since I upgraded to TEST_RELEASE_Omate_2100_TrueSmart_20140314.zip on the day when my omate 8GB/1GB 2100 arrived more than a month ago. It worked fine all this time, and without any visible cause it just stopped today.
I wanted to tether to ipad to provide internet connection, while riding in a bus, and suddenly snap - bluetooth turned itself off. I tried restarting omate. I couldn't figure anything to get it back to work.

No, just turn off quickboot and power the watch down. When you turn it back on Bluetooth will probably reinitialize and work again. For a while.

Quickboot didn't knock it out. The defective TrueSmart MTK firmware and hardware combination cause all sorts of problems with using Bluetooth, including some that require a full power cycle reset. That is not possible with Quickboot enabled unless the battery runs down or is removed.

Glad to see your BT and TS are working fine now...
All el devices could be "fixed" by restarting it.
They are all using RAM and/or dalvik cache and that has to cleared sometimes...
Dalvik cache is a "place" where Android decompile apk files for quicker access, so when you wip dalvik cache from recovery you are clearing everything so system has to decompile apk files again and RAM is cleared also...
It's like fresh start and it "fix" many software issues that way...
If you have ADB tools and rooted device, you can use adb reboot from adb shell, no need to open your watch, lose warranty and pull battery out...
