is there anyway for the time being i can disable the archos popup asking to update to 4.x? i've been there, done that and had to revert. i don't wanna accidentally do it again and im afraid i might by accident (or my daughter really)
No you can't, there's a way to stop them but it has to be baked into a ROM

cool. i'll just keep a close eye out on it.
If you use rooted build you can try freezing com.archos.daos in TitaniumBackup (and possibly com.archos.aosupdate)

My friend is over right now, he has Ice cream sandwich on his phone, I have gingerbread. My phone doesnt have the update yet. Is there a way to plug his phone into me computer, copy the ice cream sandwich files from his phone and install it onto mine?

ICS isn't even out yet, so he either has a bad SDK port, which is buggy at best right now or a very easy to reproduce themed/morphed gingerbread.
it is if he got his phone 2 days ago, i could post a picture if you want, its the real ics i just wanna know if its possible

Post a shot of the "about phone screen" if it is "real" than it is an SDK port which is not even close to stable right now. What phone are you looking to put this on?
Actually the SDK port on the Nexus S is very stable. Only Bluetooth and 4g not working.

Even if his phone does have it no you can't.
You either hope your carriwr does it for your phone or be s-off and flash a ICS rom for your phone(there won't be any until source code is released)

You are wrong. Someone bought nexus s with ICS from ebay. He bought it before ICS launched. Yeah, but Google remotely wiped the device off after they realized it. But who know who is the lucky one that bought another.

I know, I know!! We just OFFICIALLY got Gingerbread, but I was wondering if anyone has started any type of Ice Cream Sandwich development other than Klondyke and Dreyer's??

There is a thread in the general section. They have it booting and the touch screen working for the most part.

yeah here is a link to the thread:

i'm anxious to see this thing going myself. i'm getting a new phone soon but am keeping my tbolt. this thing's been my fav phone i've ever had(hd2 2nd).
Ics doesn't appeal to me visually that much more then previos android versions. I mean yea it would be way better in terms of performance but not cosmetic wise not as speaking as Samsung tw or htc sense. I expected it to be more like those by default. Instead, they've totally done away with the dock shortcuts for convenience. The galaxy nexus has it tho. I'm hoping that the OS will work well with UI shell overlays and there will be good home replacement apps that can be made to compliment the new OS. Overall I am looking forward to its release and ports to different devices for I am looking to be somewhat wo'ed by ics.

This thread is a year old, why are you quoting a year old post?
I am a little new on this whole development stuff, but I was curious if cyanogenmod 9 will be available to the 4.0 galaxy player. I have researched ice cream sandwich and it does indeed, look very interesting and it looks like it has some very nice features. If someone could give me a answer, that would be great I have a completely stock US version Galaxy Player 4.0. I know it would require root, and I am willing to if i need to.

Wonder if we will ever see this on the Note? http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2012/06/27/google-announces-android-41-jelly-bean/

Video http://phandroid.com/2012/06/27/android-4-1-jelly-bean-officially-unveiled-video/
Slashdot claims Google said they were releasing the Jelly Bean source code open source in mid-July. So... from an xda development perspective, does it really matter if it officially comes to the Note?
Fox News? Really? LOL
Try this instead.. http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/27/3118769/android-4-1-jelly-bean
And yes, I think we'll be seeing this on the Note.
Thanks

Good thing i still have my White GNexus. OTA update to Gnexus owners should start rolling in July. Looks like my Note is going to get some rest soon.
But i'm pretty sure we'll see this on the Note soon. If not, then CyanogenMod team will make it happen for us! Besides, it shouldn't be that big of an update...think CM6 to CM7 kinda change.
Oh great, even after ICS is officially released, we will get endless threads *****ing for JB now

Who is *****ing? I haven't even upgraded to ICS yet so I am also in no hurry to get this either so this thread is not about *****ing just friendly thoughts and conversation but I do know what you mean. They blame Samsung they blame their carrier lol why can't they ever just be patient and wait til an update is ready? Cracks me up how everyone thinks they need the newest everything just cause its new. I like to wait a while for new software in case it f's up peoples devices or cause a lot of problems. My device still works with the olld software so i'm still good with Gingerbread at the moment.
Considering I could run ICS on my captivate that came stock with 2.1, then the Note should eventually get JB.
ooooo ..maybe they will skip giving us ICS and we will get JB...

It is not really called Jelly Bean, its Android 4.0. Jelly Bean is the code name of the project Google used in the making of Android 4.0. Its kinda like when Ubuntu is working on updates they always use a code name till they release it then its called Ubuntu 10.4, 10.10 and so on.

All the codenames are in alphabetical order, Gingerbread Honeycomb Ice cream sandwich Jelly Bean, so they have already used the letter A it was called Alpha. Here is an explanation http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/A/android_codenames.html
My guess is the nexy Android OS will be codenamed Kettle Corn.

What is your problem exactly? By "issues with it not want to run smoothly" i'll assume it's laggy...is this correct? Have you tried doing a factory reset?

Head over to your device's section and try getting a custom ROM running.
Did the HTC Inspire evn get official ICS?

flash a custom rom
Flash a custom rom like aokp .
Or if that seems too hard to do,
Use a bloatware remover.
It should be there in your device forum

I believe that must be a custom ROM, you're running. Coz there is no official ICS for Stallion.
And its always better to read the Bugs / Changelog and check the thread completely before flashing any ROM.
And oh hey, mind sharing the link of the ICS ROM you're running? Guess I should try it
Cheers!
