Hi,
when I put the symbols to the bottom of the display, while I hold the Mediapad in portrait position, those symbols are not reachable, when i turn my Mediapad into landscape position.
I already use ICS 4.0.3 B010SP3
Is there an option, to define different profiles for the display for horizontal and for vertical use of the Mediapad? Maybe there is an app, which does offer this?
Thx for help!

When using my Archos 70, I find out that the screen orientation is somehow strange.
1st - I like to use it in portrait. However, I cannot make the screen 'lock' to portrait orientation. The 'lock' feature only supports landscape orientation
2nd - Even in portrait mode, when using some apps, the orientation is inverted (such as z4root). Seems Archos makes the default portrait position to be like 'power button at the bottom and the USB at the top). However..... I think most of you will agree that we all like the power button AT THE TOP.
So, is there a way to fix the orientation (default) to portrait, with power button at the top?
Thanks for your help.
1. Yes lock is Landscape, that has to do with the stand.
2. This has to do with the way android works. Normaly view is stopped and started again with the new orientation by the os. But the developer can tell Android that it handöes this switch itself and then the app is responsible for thee switching.
So there is no way atm to change this.
Whenever I use an application (on my A101) that only works in portrait mode, the power button is always at the top.
So far I have tried with Twonky and z4root.
edit: oh, and I believe some of the launchers available will let you lock screen in portrait mode ... try Launcher Pro or ADW
Okay, I'm installing the View in place of the Samsung Galaxy Tab that is in the dash of my car right now, but for ease of access to the power button, I need it rotated to REVERSE LANDSCAPE.
For some reason, the View will only go into Landscape if you turn it counter clockwise from Portrait.
Any help here?
S-Off Rooted and stock HC.
Try "rotation locker"
Once in your homescreen and with the rotation you prefer press the widget and lock it. Every app will be forced to show in that orientation.
Thank you, but the problem is you can't get it into the rotation I need.
Hold your View/Flyer in portrait, and then turn it clockwise. It stays in portrait.
Yeah it seems to only rotate ways in which the Capacative buttons are located. Maybe a DEV can unlock that feature?
I'd hope so. I found an app that will do it, but you have to LOCK it in that position. Not a problem for what I'm using it for, but still, not optimal.
Orientation Control is the app I found.
How come when in landscape mode and you bring up the keyboard it is only on the left side of the screen and makes typing with it nearly impossible? Is there a setting for this I am missing somewhere? I don't see anything in the keyboard settings.
I have a z3c phone and recently I bought the z3 compact tablet. With the phone, the softkeys (back, home, tasks) stay in place when you go to landscape mode so they are at the side of the screen. Which is nice. But with the tablet, they move to the bottom, wasting a lot of precious screen estate. I can't find a setting to change this behaviour. Is there any way to get them to the side in landscape without rooting? If not, is there a chance this will change with lollypop?
If you are rooted, download an app titled Ultimate Dynamic NavBar. It will give you this option as well as other options to both customize and hide your softkeys.
Can anyone confirm that it's not just me? M5 8.4 inch UK model (normally using Nova launcher) set display view mode to small (in order for some apps to see this as a tablet not phone) and on rotation to landscape the navigation bar/buttons disappear.
(Leaving on default and the navbar stays at the side on rotation - though I'd prefer it on the bottom.)
Using developer options to set dpi to 680 makes the navbar appear but with only the home button showing.
Huawei support suggest a factory reset, which I've already done to enforce the DRM change in the recent update, so doubt it would make any difference.
Surely is not just my tablet?

me too, the support told me to wait a future update...
I had what sounds like a somewhat similar issue using Nova Launcher and the 10 inch model. In landscape mode the nova dock would stay vertical on the right side instead of moving to the bottom, even if the screen orientation was set to auto-rotate in the nova settings / look and feel.
It was fixed by simply changing the View Mode setting to small in Settings / Display. Didn't have to mess with DPI manually or anything. With the View Mode to small I don't have any problems with the dock or the navigation bar.

Thanks, it's good to know that it's a general issue with the tablet.

This is probably just a side effect of the default DPI value, Nova treats the tablet as a phone, where it's normal to have the navbar on the side when in landscape. Switching display mode moves to a more compact DPI setting. Good to know that the navbar works, it suggests it's just an issue with the 8.4 that should get fixed.
For those annoyed by this, just wanted to mention that Ultimate Dynamic Navbar works, at least partially, if you are rooted (maybe even if you aren't). It's a navbar replacement that is fully customizable, fully collapsible, and will rotate with the device.
For me, I can't map home/recents/back functions to the softkeys - but a.) I haven't experimented, b.) the UDN softkeys can still be used to launch custom apps and for various other functions like switching to the "previous app," c.) the UDN navbar can be used in conjunction with your existing navbar setup, and d.) it's a lightweight app that is fully collapsible, so you have little to lose by installing it.
Known issue
This youtuber describes this exact issue amongst other issues:

Now fixed (at least partly) with firmware 8.0.0.151. When display size is set to small, the nav bar now stays visible on the short side, though I'd prefer it on the long side. Not a complete fix, in that when changing DPI in developer settings, it just shows the single home button on the long side.
The device offers you the option to use the fingerprint button for navigation. You can find the option at system settings / navigation
