[Q] Should I disable Voodo before ODIN? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am currenly on Bionix V5 ROM and would like to odin JFD, do I have to disable voodo? if so how?
Thx.

Not really. Odin will reset everything to stock. Just put your phone in download mode and flash correct files.

Thx.
Do you know where can I find the correct files for KB5? Also, do I have to flash JFD first and only then KB5?
thx.

Odin back to official 2.2 how?

Hey.
I have the files, .pit and .tar for true 2.1 stock and I always used to go back to that using ODIN.
Now that 2.2 is out, can I odin back to official 2.2?
If so, where can I find the .pit and .tar files?
Thank you
Odin to Stock official 2.2 files?
I've been looking for these too... Is there a link somewhere? Thanks.
you dont need the .pit but it is the same 512.pit you can get the .tar from the DEV section

there is also CWM flashable versions

Flashing back to stock, any advantage to ODIN?

When I have had trouble with a custom ROM, or changing file format, I usually odined back to 2.1 JDF with JAC's odin file and start again with a clean stock base. Doing this is kind of a PITA, having to root again and flash CWR before I could flash a custom rom.
Is there any benefit of using odin to revert to JDF anymore or can I get the same results if I use CWR to flash a rooted, de-odexed, stock 2.2 rom IE re-setting the phone and getting a clean "stock" base from which to flash a custom rom?

Not sure if you've done this, but when you've first flashed CWR did you do a back up? From what I understand, with that back up you can just flash back to how your phone was prior to flashing the custom rom. I've never tried it though, I've always odin back to stock just in case.
Yea I normally make a nadroid backup via CWR and Ti backup of apps, then copy the SD card to my desktop. A nadroid backup will not re-flash the modem or kernel. The only way to do this was odin but now CWR can. This is part of my reason for asking the question in the OP. If CWR can flash rom, kernel and modem, is there any benefit to using ODIN to get back to a clean stock rom?
Flashing back to stock is always the cleanest way to go. You do not risk
"ghost" remnants from old flashings. Nice clean slate... is always the best way to go. Reverting back to stock from CWR backup I have not do that it would defeat the purpose of wiping old data from the firmware. So, I always do a reflash back to stock when putting Real new software. I do not if I am just upgrading from older version of custom rom xx to a newer version.
Oka1,
thanks. Do you use JAC's JFD, link, or is there a mildly tweaked Odin file that will give a rooted stock?

If you go to the vibrant directory bible there are stock rims that have been rooted.

Thanks. Although the bible has CWR rooted roms, I do not see any that are ODIN. Which was sort of the reason for this thread, CWR vs ODIN to get a clean, ghost free, platform to flash a custom rom.

[Q] i flashed wrong kernel plz help me

ok i flashed team whisky 2.2.1 4g based rom to vibrant later i flashed stock 2.2 kernel on team whisky site. I know it must have been a wrong kernel for the rom. But can any plz tell me the easiest way to get my phone back running it only goes to the boot samsung screen i cant get into clockwork but downloading screen. Please and thx plz provide links
You need to use put your phone into download mode, use Odin to flash .
update
the rom i had was bionix frost 2.2.1 is there some kind of way to just reflash a rom to get my phone back running
You can PM tomorrow, if you don’t have the files.
Yes,you need a tar file and using Odin
Your phone is soft brick! You can still flash but only by using Odin. Do you know how to use Odin
If you can still get in to CWM and you left the ROM on your internal SD, just re-flash. Everything should work after that. That would be the easiest way, followed by ODIN.
As long as you have a complete ROM on your internal SD card you should be able to get into recovery (hopefully) via the hardware buttons and re-flash that ROM with its correct kernel.
Otherwise you are stuck having to go with odin/heimdall and flashing it that way.
Goodluck.
how exactly do i use odin i downloaded it but what do i have to do first i still have a copy of the bionix rom on sd
Use the Vibrant Toolbox here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=954509 It's the easiest way to go back to stock. Also, anytime you have a problem like this it's best to just Odin back. Reflashing through clockwork can leave alot of bugs.

[Q] stuck in recovery mode <3e>

To all vibrant devs here,
i make a new thread so i can find a clue to my vibrant which is getting stuck in recovery mode <3e>. i searched for all stuck in recovery mode thread, but it seems i can't find any clue there.
here is the situation:
i have a t-mobile vibrant in t959uvkb1 baseband, was using bionix 1.3.1 rom, and overstock kernel.
i updated the kernel accidentally to cwm7 kernel (cwm v3.0.2), then my vibrant went in bootloop. i couldn't even get back to bionix and overstock.
i was using odin to flash the vibrant back to stock (t959uvjfd.tar), and somehow i didn't uncheck the re-partition, so it became totally blank.
then i found t959uvkb1.tar in this vibrant forum, i flashed it again with odin, and now my vibrant get stuck in recovery mode <3e>
i see there are 5 choices only:
reboot system now
reinstall packages
delete all user data
delete cache data
format internal sd-car
everytime i reboot, it come to this recovery mode again
i try to reinstall packages, it says E: failed to open /mnt/internal_sd/update.zip (no such file or directory).
i have bionix 1.3.1 rom and overstock kernel files stored in internal sd-card though.
my question is:
which rom is suitable with this recovery mode?
is there any way that i can downgrade to 2e?
need help from anyone.
thanks in advance.
update:
i managed to find eugene's froyo that doesn't brick file (t959uvjk2).
i used the file with odin, and i have my vibrant back to normal.
just curious, the baseband was t959uvkb1, and now it's jk2.
thanks to xda forum.
update 2:
everytime i reboot the device, flight mode always activated. i have to deactivate flight mode in order to get the signal.
i tried to flash the device back to t959uvkb1 and use odin to flash, my baseband goes unknown.
what should i do?
i need help desperately.
thanks.
no one answered yet??
need help desperately.
Might try Odin flashing all the way down to JFD? If you have a pit file and a full image (like JFD), repartitioning shouldn't be a problem. I always do it when flashing down to stock. Edit: Do be careful though!

@inconceeeivable,
thanks for the reply.
i've done flashing this vibrant so many times, with jfd, kb1, jk2, again and again.
everytime i flash it with jfd, it always stuck in vibrant logo.
when i try to flash it with eugene's froyo that does not brick (jk2), the baseband is there. but everytime i reboot the device, the baseband become unknown again.
i am confused now.
it's just the same when i updated the device with bionix 1.3.1, that changed my baseband to t959uvkb1.
do you know what i should do next?
That's strange that JFD is not working.
So wait... the baseband is disappearing with Bionix as well?
Have you tried flashing a modem on top of either of those?
