[Q] Not allowed to install more apps - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

When I try to install any apk from explorer or market i get an error: "not enought space avaliable in device" (in spanish something similar), but i´ve got 2.5 gb free memory.
If i uninstall an app then i can install another one, seems like there was a limite with number of apps installed in my device. I´ve got more than 350 apps installed, yes i know it´s a lot, but i´ve got enought space for more why can´t install more?.

Thought since ICS there was no limit in number of apps installed, since desappeared partitions in internal storage, which there used to be in honeycomb, etc....where there was a limit of space for apps partition.

I doubt it's an app limit in ICS. For some reason, that space is unusable to you. Sounds like you would just have to uninstall some apps to make room for more. If you want to clear cache on all of your apps it should give you enough room for another app or 3.

Please forgive me if my reply is incorrect, but first are you sure this isnt ghe error letting you know there is no more space on your home screen, which would mean it installed but its just not showing the icon anywhere other than the app drawer, i know its probably not but i figured i would mention. And finaly what is the size of the app you arr trying to install? Also it may be that android requires at least a gig or two of free space to run for temp files and such, again i may be wrong its just a guess.

The size of the app does not matter, i´ve proved with diferents apps with diferents sizes, and the same happened, even if i uninstall a big app and try to install 2 apps smaller, i can install only one.

You might have conflicting apps. For example, if you tried to install an update or another version of the same app.

First time it happens was installing an app, android proccess for installing packets closed itself, Prime rebooted itself, and since then i get that message of lack of space when trying to install any app. May be a cassuality? But first app that maybe caused everything was a new app, so no problems about updates conflictions.

No, the app is not installed, does not show neither the home screen nor the app drawer. About the temp files use, in the past i had less free space with less installed apps and never had this problem. And there is no relation with the size of the app to install, i,ve tried with less than 1mb apps, and if i uninstall an app for example of 34mb i only get to install another one, if i try to install 2 apps of 1mb i only can install one of them.

[Q] why can't I download this app?

Ok so I have 74mb of space left. And I'm trying to download a 9.xx mb app from the play store. However it says I can't because I have insufficient space available. I don't understand how I don't have enough space st 74 MB to download a 9 mb app. I've cleared cache and everything too. Can anyone give me an answer as to why this is? Fyi the app is the game minibash, if that makes a difference
Menu/ Settings/ applications/ manage applications / All (apps) / Google Play Store / Clear cache
try it
Wheres it trying to install SD card or internal memory? 9mb is the compressed file size, once installed it will be larger.
Maybe android is reserving a certain amount of working space for caches and stuff like that. Can you push some apps to sd to free up some space?

Transfer apps from SD to Phone, or from Phone to SD
Every app that is movable has been moved
any apps on which I can clear the data to free up space, like amazon appstore and play store, etc have been cleared, and I clear the cache like 5 times a day. I don't know what else to do.

It tells me on the play store that the size is 9.02 mb. From the play store page of that app I don't know how to tell if it installs onto the sd card or the phone. Is there a wqy to tell?
How many apps have you downloaded? Free up some space by deleting an app or two that you don't use much. Then download this set it to external and move apps at will to the sd card. You should then have plenty of space.
Ok if you're in this forum you should have the evo 3d too, but if you did you'd know that the app you told me to download is not compatible with the 3vo, so I can't use that to help me since I can't download it.

An update then must have made it incompatible if it used to be... Thats how an app is on my phone right now, it has an update but when I go to update it it says its not compatible with my phone so I can't update it. OH well. That'd be a really awesome app cuz i have some apps that are like 10+ mb that are not sd compatible so if I could force them to go there that'd be awesome. But it's not compatible. shoot

You might give that a shot, I have no idea how well it works.

Amaze memory cleaner is great

There is an app in the play market called amaze memory cleaner. My memory, the 2gig portion was under 300mb, I deleted close to 10 apps & it never went above 300mb. I couldn't install updates it was terrible. I was about to do a factory reset, i googled the problem and found an article referring to an app called amazed memory cleaner. I went to the play market and found the app. It said it was an htc app but had only been downloaded once . I almost didn't install it because I thought for sure it was some kind of malware, but I really didn't have any other choice so I download it. I ran the app and my memory went to 1.2 gigabytes. And the phone was running like a top again. It seems there's a glitch in the system that once an app claims memory even if that app is deleted the system never sees the memory as freed up well this app fixes that. It's been 4 days since I installed the app I've ran into no problems, trustgo scanned the app and didn't find anything malicious contained within it, and like I said I've had no problems. My memory now read what it should if I add up the megabytes from all the apps i have installed instead of refusing to go above 300 megabytes no matter how many app's I delete. Anyone having similar problems try the app I promise you won't be disappointed. Create a backup and all that just to be safe if you'd like. I'm in no way associated with this app just a user that it helped out. I wish htc would push out an update for this problem instead of having to download an app from the play store but I'm just glad my phone's back to normal.

Here you go.
This app doesn't do crap. Wtf is it supposed to "Update Successful"
Use CacheCleaner NG and set it to clean the SD Card also. Also use it the old method and set it to clean every 12hrs.

The interesting thing about this app is it's only for the Amaze and the developer that released it is HTCdev. I can't confirm that it did much of anything for my phone but there is definitely strange goings on here.
look at your phones internal memory before & after
I didn't think it did anything either, it just say update successful. But before I had 289mb internal Memory free & couldn't even update my apps. After 1.2gb free & I was updating away. It worked wonders for me.

I had deleted about 10 apps & my internal memory went up maybe 9mb. It's like the phone wasn't reclaiming the memory before and after it does.
I wrote a paper on what it did for me at least so people wouldnt be confused, & it's like no one read it. Lol oh well I tried.

Cleaning the cache will only free up minimal space(trust me I tried) not a gigabyte like this app did for me. Not saying it will do that for everyone my GF has the same phone she's not having the problem. But in my case it worked well.

apps won't be installed

Hey there,
I have a problem with my tablet. I cannot install some apps from the store. A little amount of apps could be installed, but the rest won't.
There is the same problem if I try to install an app from the Explorer. I always get the Error, that there isn't enough space left. Even though I have 3gigs of internal and 20 of external left.. I tried nearly everything. Even another Rom didn't help.. I think there is something wrong with an app but I don't know what.
Help is really appreciated
Btw: i'm on spg311 with 4.3 jellybean and root

I want to install apps on SD card, what are my options?

Does every Cyanogenmod rom allow that by default, or dit it die with version 11 or 12 being the last one?
If installing directly to SD is a no go, what good apps are there that do the transfer (and keep everything working, of course
I would recommend Link2SD.
I have used it with satisfaction on several low memory devices.
Not sure why, I find Link2SD and its options terribly confusing Well, I guess I'll need to learn.
There are a lot of guides and it's not so complex.
The best way to use it is to create a second partition on sd (consider a backup of your data on pc/otg/cloud/...).
As far as I can remember link2sd will ask you the filesystem type and then it will create some script to use it.
Then you can simply tap on an app from the list and press "link to sd".
From the apps list you can do a lot of operation like convert apps to system/user app, freeze/unfreeze, merge an updated app to rom etc. and using the filter this kind of operation will be very easy and fast.
EDIT:
On the plus (paid) version you can link also data.
If you really want to maximize the free space on the device, this option is worth the few moneys.
EDIT2:
I've always used it on other devices using AOSP based roms, I don't know if there are problems using it with MIUI.
Thanks a lot! So, if you "link" (strange choice of word, it's not actually linking if it gets completely moved to SD and nothing remaing in main storage is it, that's what confused the hell out of me), app and its data to SD, will it be exactly like it was downloaded and installed on SD right from the store, like it used to be on Android versions that supported such thing? I know Cyanogenmod 11 did that perfectly, wonder if it's CM thing by default, or did they moved to new (stupid) concept of raping the main storage in later versions
EDIT: Any chance of "linking" bloody Whatsapp to SD completely? I'm in continuous maintenance mode of my wife phone because that **** consumes the storage for all it's worth.

Linking is not the same as moving.
For example, if you move to sd and then remove the sd from the device, widgets and app icons will be removed.
Maybe they will be restored when you insert your sd again, but the order could not be the same.
The same doesn't happen linking.
There are also other benefits, try googling for "link2sd faq".

I'm not using whatsapp so I don't know if it works.
I guess that your are talking about the "whatapp" directory on which msgs and media are store.
If link2sd can't solve your problem, I think that can try to move the whatsapp directory to sd and then manually create a link (keep the original name) on the original position.
Or you can try with apps like foldermount
EDIT:
try looking at this thread
Maybe your can try xposed app..xinternalsd..swap sdcard to be phone memory

[Help] Deleted files not ending up as free space, storage/software issue

TLDR: storage issue when using 3rd party file managers, deleted files do not return to free space, ends up as 'system data' when i checked with diskusage on the appstore. Didn't matter if it was on internal or sd card. Tried to factory reset multiple times still same issue. Anyone else? ><"
Here's the email i shot to LG, still no reply from them, im getting more and more upset with LG each day, even HTC, ****ty Samsung when i had my s3 and Sony Ericsson back in the day responded in a week.
"I visited the service center about 2 weeks back, 19 April, about the storage issue i was facing when using the internal and 3rd party file managers when deleting files where the space taken up by files would be relegated to "system data" instead of free space upon deletion, and i would only get back the free space sometimes when i restart the phone. I have had it factory reset and tested with the staff, who said that the software team would get back to me regarding this as it seems to be an isolated case right after the product launch when i bought it on 16 April. I have not gotten a reply regarding this issue and i would like it solved ASAP, may i know if this is a software issue or hardware issue and what the software team has been able to find out so far? This issue is still present and i am able to isolate this issue mostly to the use of 3rd party file manager/explorers on the Google Play Store. "
Any kind soul can help and try to replicate this issue?
Isn't this a feature of the G5? When you delete apps, they stay for 24 hours and can be reinstalled via the "Uninstalled Apps" icon. The icon only seems to show when I use the default homescreen. So after you delete something, check there and delete it again and it should free the space.

Nono, as in any other file besides apps, i know about that feature. Lets say i delete 5Gb of music, i dont get back that 5 Gb, ends up under system data.
Hmm. Deleted some files with solid explorer and it freed the space for me. Are you rooted? What 3rd party file manager do you use?

Hmmm i tried the asus file manager, explorer by speedsoftware and es file explorer. I am really really fed up with the internal file manager. Im in Singapore, Model H860 and not rooted(no bootloader unlock available anyways lol). Im thinking it might be just an isolated case for me, but i'll take a look at solid explorer now.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_c1KCCVIvsY i have recorded the issue i was talking about. Hope this helps to explain the situation.

Hello, i received notification that LG headquarters have been able to successfully replicate the issue on their end and are *supposedly working on it*, from what i understand it seems to be an underlying issue in terms of their framework coding.
Bloody hell guess this is what i get for being early adopter and having the luck to be an unrecognised beta tester to solve an issue they didnt already fix with a phone that just so happens to have this issue.

Just a thought - it's an official LG tool that supposedly takes care of your problem (freeing up space) and I wonder if it also reports (or even notices) the acculmulation of those files. It's logs (if it has any that can be accessed) would point to the problem maybe. I believe you have done everything - I just wonder how LG is diagnosing it.

None other than restarting
I've found that there is a recycle bin of sorts like windows within the file structure. Sometimes mine won't free up the space until that folder is emptied.
The folder is estrongs, has the recycle folder inside.

How to delete pictures/videos and free space - the hard way
My LG v20 maxed out in storage. I deleted tons of videos and pictures, but it did not free up the space. I called ATT support, but they could not help. So I plugged my phone into my Windows 10 computer and used windows explorerr to look in every folder until I could find the 20-30GB of files that should not have been there. And I found them here!
This PC\V20\Internal storage\Android\data\com.android.gallery3d\files\.trashcan
It turns out that deleting images was just moving them in to this trashcan. I deleted the various folders in here and I got all my space back. Solved (for me at least).
