Adding init.d support to the ICS leak - HTC Amaze 4G

I'd like to stay with the stock ICS leak (it works really great on my Amaze), and want to add init.d support, because I want to install V6 Supercharger as well, to make settings stick after reboot. Thanks to Mike1986, I know how to do so on Gingerbread - by adding /system/xbin/busybox run-parts /system/etc/init.d to the init.post_boot.sh and creating a system/etc/init.d folder - but now on ICS in /etc instead of init.post_boot.sh there is a init.qcom.post_boot.sh file which I dont know if it's the same thing, and also whether the aforementioned method would work here as well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, tnx!

Locked in 3......2.............

Nice help, buddy

Its because this should be in the q&a thread, but Mike might look in here and be able to help again.. Try to pm him.
Over 10000!!! You bet I am.

Yep, posted it here exactly because devs rarely look at the q&a section. This thing is really useful to know, not just for me...

And still no instruction. Just sayin

I'd be really surprised if it was otherwise... I dont even think the guy knows how to do it, he was just doing his boob show, thats all...
But if anyone really knows how to add init.d support and share it here, that'd be awesome

This place is like the wild west. Do any of you care where anyone posts anything? A theme or mod is getting bumped DOWN over this dopey question. Dude, do you realize this is a question with nothing to download or flash?
Mattfox, is it fun for you to post dopey stuff in the dev and theme section?
Maybe I'm not used to the wild west but in my xda world this belongs in general.

Sorry...the forum is themes and APPS I thought this would be the proper place because it was an app.
Its getting scary to even post anything on this board some people here are very rude you could have just said "hey this should go in general" instead of slamming me for something so trivial...
SORRY FOR MY STUPID MISTAKE YOU ARE CORRECT AND I'M WRONG...I only hope to not get slammed for my grammar.
Why are some people here so mean?
This is a community forum right? A place to ask and answer questions and help and give help, right? It sure doesn't seem like it anymore.

I agree...and the statement "MY xda world " is disheartening a bit.
I can understand frustration but THAT is exactly why we have FREE private messages and can tell a mod DIRECTLY ""can u move this please or it doesn't belong here""
And just howto many themes/apps.got bumped so far down the forums they aren't seen anymore? Its not.like there is a ton of new stuff everyday right now. A break could have been given in this situation. Not like this was in a forum section like htc where something new is coming out and got missed cuz if this.
I understand its not the right spot but u could have handles it better. Tell the mod don't flame a guy for a mistake. Unnecessary man. By the way. It IS THEMES AND APPS. NOT dev and app or DEV and theme. Relax.
matt,
Don't sweat it ... no one here is perfect.
I noticed the same thing and after running Naven's init.d hack and 0vermind's re-hack, I downloaded Autostart from the Market. I believe it is a free app ...
You can prevent ScriptManager from starting up after boot using Autostart, as well as a bunch of other programs that really don't need to be running until you actually call on them.

? And I dont want to pester the guy who's worked his arse off to give the community a rockin kernel

Hi,
I use the following quick method. Using Root Explorer (or something similar) and the Terminal app from the Market, move the .ko files to /data/local/modules and then in Terminal issue the following commands:
su
insmod /data/local/modules/xxxx.ko
where xxxx is what .ko module you've chosen and repeat the insmod for each module.
That should be it.
Cheers,
morkli

Exactly this. Also, I can't remember for sure, but you may need to repeat the Terminal commands each time you reboot. I don't think so though.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, I thought it made more sense than posting a new one. I'm trying to install the module for PS3 controller. Does anyone know which one it is? For that matter, is there any list that explains what all of the modules Pershoot made available are?
Thanks!

You'll be wanting lib\modules\2.6.36.4-cyanogenmod+\kernel\drivers\hid\hid-sony.ko
I like to understand the other files too...

I asked this question too here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1303384
But I am new and not sure my question was understood... don't need help with the actual installation... just want to understand the list of modules...looks like 4 being described in the change log...but there are about 16 .ko files... not exactly a 1 21 relationship, so I assume the other files don't even work (work in progress maybe) as there no mention of their extra functionality. For example, I extract lib-2.6.36.4/lib/modules and there is a dhd.ko file at the root of the directory. I have no idea what its for, nor any of the files in at the root of /2.6.36.4-cyanogenmod+. Those are not .ko files. Is one of them perhaps a Unix file type that is equivalent to a man page or a read me file that I can open and discusses the use of the content in /kernel? If I don't need to know what these are, and they are not to be moved to the tab for installation....why include them at all? Why not just zip up the 4/5 .ko files? My curiosity is going to get me cussed out.....lol. I've read the general and Q&A forums from the last 60 days and not found a lot on this... not much in the dev forums either besides the instructions on how to install a module file (.ko) Thanks gang!

I'm going to be brutally honest, and say the best person to ask is the packager, AKA pershoot. Personally, the majority of what I've needed out of the .tar.gz has been pretty self-explanatory - the stuff that isn't obvious I've left alone and not had any difficulties.
Curiousity in these situations is definitely a good thing, and not to be frowned upon on a developer's forum; but I think the only person who can answer the exact whys and wherefores is pershoot. in this case.
Thanks friend, I've got 22 years in IT as sys admin/service delivery co-ordinator/infrastructure owner, and those are just the checks that go into the boxes. I could not "load this into production" with the info provided for the change. I can't post in pershoot forum yet... so I thought Q &A might do the trick, but couple more posts and I'll will take your advice.
I don't know how well you know your way around Android, but answering a couple of questions if you can is a good way to get enough to ask in the dev forum whilst helping others.
pershoot is on the droid-basement blog which might have a email address if getting a direct response is really important to your deployment strategy. With your years of experience, I'm not advocating such a outright tactic, but he is pretty forthcoming as far as I've seen. Otherwise, helping and waiting out to get on the dev forum will be your best bet.

Give a man a fish vs. teach a man to fish. That's what I go with pretty much all the time, you could call it my golden rule. Sorry if sometimes it comes across as rude but sometimes I do feel like it's necessary. I was just trying to point out it's pretty easy to extract a single picture yourself, definitely not worth opening a new thread.
OT:
I have tried to extract but i was not able to do it, if so i won't write... when i open the zip of the rom there is only *.img files that i can't open...
If you can explain how i think it could be usefull to somebody else a part me

I used to do exactly that, but all it did was start flaming and problems, not to mention complaints to mods. Might find it better to chill and help a wee bit more. Took me a long time to realise most people really are struggling, and a wee bit of help goes a long way. Don't get me wrong, I can still be a major ass at times, especially when the gene pool dictates it needs to be that way.
If someone really wish to help then should make short guide or link to it. Write to use search is just useless. Even more than original post.
If someone doesn't know, teach him.
