BOOTANIMATION & DOWNANIMATION
I am going to keep all my bootanimations in one place and will just keep adding to this thread as I find these kinda enjoyable to do.
For stock ICS place them in: /system/customize/resource/overwrite old bootanimation/downanimation
If on Android Revolution ICS, bootanimation is in: /data/local/bootanimation (downanimation is still in resource)
For downanimation to work correctly, you have to set correct permissions. If not you will just get a black screen
Owner: read & write checked, execute unchecked
Group: read checked, rest unchecked
Others: read checked, rest unchecked

TMOUS_downanimation.zip

let me check it out again, mine worked fine when I changed it a minute ago.
I just changed mine to a different bootanimation, then downloaded the one that is posted and reapplied it. And it worked just fine for me.
That's wierd, let me dl it again, maybe a bad dl.
Edit: Must've been a bad download, tried again and works fine, thank you.
No problem.

You do not flash the splash through recovery.
To flash the splash use this: SUPER EASY DnD flash splash screen ,it is fairly simple to use.

Also, the alpharev starfiled bots one is floating around, I have it too if you want. My current fave is a PAID one made by chainfire, called live logcat, super geek, love it. Let me know if you can't find them, hell come ask in our q+a thread, some of us will give you links. I attached the alpharev one.

I took my favorite boot animation (AndroidParticles1 by Dysgenic) and added a Galaxy S2 Exynos graphic to it to make it GS2 specific. The original boot animation came from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905538 and I received permission from Dysgenic to post my altered version of it. I added the GSII text/graphic to all frames of the animation so it is stationary while the particles do their thing.
Use:
You need to be rooted.
The stock ROM rooted will not support a .ZIP boot animation (I use UnNamed ROM.)
Put the ZIP file (do not unzip) at /system/media and rename to bootanimation.zip
Here is one frame of it.

Colorize Tip
Attached is the original animation in red (no words)
(note: this is not an install, just the boot animation zipped)
You can use the Photo tool GIMP to colorize,
just open the image, make sure that it is in RGB mode,
then go to the color menu, choose colorize, then adjust the sliders the same for all images.

Yes, it works. I have to lay it out as 720x1280 otherwise it would be short and fat on your screen, effectively. Like on my phone, it has to be 540x960, 1080x1920 for the One, 480x800 for the One V.
EDIT: I just realised that I typed the title wrong, that has been changed, thanks for pointing that out.

Just installed the animations on my phone and they look great! Thanks a bunch! I do have 2 questions though:
1) Is there a particular reason the Downanimation is less fps than the Bootanimation?
2) Is there any way to change the White HTC splash screen right before the Bootanimation to a black one or remove it all-together? 'coz the Black animation looks great but it doesn't look all that great coming from an all-white screen.
That's awesome! Will try it out soon!
How to ?
how do i install the bootanimations and downanimations ? Do i flash them in recovery or what ?

I have the same question too. I tried replacing it using root explorer by going to system/customize/resource but when I restarted my phone it still had the original boot animation.

Did you change permissions? You have to set permissions to:
user read - write
group read
other read
tick those options and untick all the rest and it will def work :good:
