Hello here's the thing ...
I got tired of changing between rom so i thought ... gonna make my own ... and so i did ...
I'm no dev ... but imho! It worked out great i picked out a stock DDQ8 and ... i got a solid rom with amazing speed even tough its under locked! and even under locked ... got a benchmark higher than many roms i've tried ... wich had no under lock at all ... !
Now ... there are still some thing's that i need to do ... but as i stated earlier ... i am no dev and i am still leraning
1st - Recently converted system to ext4 (have cf-root b83) and now i wanna install a2sd script ... i know something about that ... but can someone tell me exactly what to do, to get him up and running?
2nd - I wanna deodex my rom ... but im having problems with adb ... i click for it to run and he simple just close's ...
3rd - If i get all of the thing to work as i want ... How can i make this a flashable rom so other may experience it?
Thanks in advance to all of you wich are willing to help
Thing's ive done so far:
Deleted all the junk and i'm still not over with this ...
Modded mms.apk
modded phone.apk
modded gallery3d.apk
flashed cf-root b83
made it possible to read custom boot animation's
made my edit's to build prop
converted it to ext4 file system ...
Change the look's of with the new modded touchwiz from great spacecaker
icons and system ui to look like S2
removed swipe to unlock
added beats audio lib and app
and that's all i can remember right now
All can be done with dsixda's Android Kitchen
Ace-ing all tests.

I want to customize a rom . I've seen a video http://androidforums.com/hero-all-things-root/110948-how-video-how-customize-custom-rom.html.
It pretty much covers some stuff , but I want to know how to remove a2sd modules from a ROM , and other inbuilt tweaks like JIT+hw and ... others.
Cheers and try to not to flame me hard
Hi guys,
I have tried to use like all the themes posted in this O1 forum from sense, honeycomb ,darksky ,Gb, Galaxy and all others(many thanx to the ppl who made them) on a stock Deodexed ROm (LIght ANDROID somebody posted not kpbotbot's one) ..I dont know how to edit framework files..SO i simple copy the files to /system/framework ,and most of the times either FCs happen or market and other gapps dont work or the UI reloads again and again ....Any tips on how to fix this ????

Everybody's needs & wants are different. So are likes/dislikes/expectations etc.
So if marcopolo says that he needs dualboot, I guess somebody knowledgeable on the matter needs to advise about the possibility and ways of going about it. Not push him to try a new ROM (MIUI 1.10.8 Basic, since thread # 1295089 is for it), or did bimmerrob paste the wrong URL.
I myself have tried a few ROMS - WB TW (before SE released official 2.3.3 ROM), CM7 ZMOD, FXP 028/030 & some other flavors, but I always keep coming back to Stock or it's derivatives due to one issue or another (WLOD's & restarts mostly).
I would also love to have dualboot & would try searching more on it. Will post my search results later. I've dual booted between different Windows versions & linux on my desktop & laptop for years, so why not dual boot (between ROM's) on phone.
I may be from the minority who sometimes face crippling problems with custom ROM's (since most of the users run custom ROM's without much issues). At those times, flashing another stable/stock ROM is not possible due to various reasons (not having access to laptop etc), so temporarily, switching to another stable/stock ROM would be a nice feature to have.
Dualbooting is conceptually possible and we have even tried and tested it with 2.2 ROM's combining 2.1 ROM's
so far no one tried this on 2.3.3 roms.. ITs just a matter of trying and getting it to work.

I'm on the same page as you. I'd like to test a few things out while still having one ROM that I KNOW works as the primary and boot a test ROM to see if it would even work for me.
Been meaning to research and play with the old method and modify it a bit to get this idea working but never have the time.
I'll be a guinea pig for whoever gets this in alpha.
I personally need dual boot to avoid the hassle of backing up and restoring data/apps everytime i try a custom ROM
its annoying when u are not satisfied with the new one and has to switch back to an old one
so............ guys in the ur group as well !!!

We Are IN Need Of Ultimate Devs :|
Sorry to say , we got a handful left
Edit : I think This Thread must go to " General " or " Q & A "
Hi everybody, I and my girlfriend both using Optimus Black mobiles; I'm on Cyanogenmod7 and she is on stock (rooted) rom for ease of her use. Now, her birthday is coming this February, so along with regular stuffs i've bought for her, i've decided to gift her a rom. ( ). The basic idea is, i create a custom cm, then make a nandroid backup of it, and then flash it on cwm on her mobile.
Since i'm using android more than a year, i know a little bit of modding. So i've already themed my device to suit her with some modifications such as transparent status bar, center clock, a special theme on uotkitchen, themed adw launcher with custom icons and all that..... now i just need the following answers from senior members here to complete my pseudo-rom experience of gifting her.
1) In About phone section in settings, how to change the name of Mod version and Kernel version? I mean, it shows Cyanogenmod-7.2.0. xxxxx things, and i want to change it by her name ( ), like we see in custom roms by various devs. So in which system files i need to do the editing for that?
2) How to change the Android version? Of course, i mean, android version of cm7 will be 2.3.7 , but, since she doesn't even understand what froyo/gb/ics is, i want to change it to her birth date ( ) to make her happy. So, is it possible ? And how ?
I hope other guys might also like this idea ! .... Your help will be very much welcomed. Thanks in advance..
well for one i do know that you can spoof the OS version number. dunno how tho

i always wanted to make a custom rom with my sing on it but for my personal use only....i manage this with this guide http://forum.xdadevelopers.com/showthread.php?t=1132724
and my rom is working perfectly without bug as i can see until now...but i want to add some custom boot animations or add teawks and some other "hacking" things on my Gnote so i was wondering if some one can show me a guide to do it or tell me...Also i am using the dsixda's Android Kitchen now to see with what method i am doing better work...
I am also new to this but successfully I have created a ROM for SGS II without any kitchen or whatever from Base! My Advice is You first Get a Skeleton Rom and Study Android File Structure(FOLDERS WITHIN ROMS) not FILE SYSTEM(EXT4 etc). I will guide more If you start and finish what I said previously!
Thanks always Appreciated!
ok i have make one rom with skeleton rom and is working perfectly with the cg root kernel and also with abyssnote ...i didnt face any issue so far....
Good! You should now tweak the Framework and make it stable while adding no themes!
Deodexing and CRT off and BatteryMod plus Extended power menu should be in your rom before posting on XDA because all other ppl like these features so much that now it's compulsory in every rom!
That things is what i want on my note from the day i bought it....but i dont know how to add them to my rom (the method to do it)....so far with the guide it was so "easy" (after 20) to learn anything the guide said i have manage to build one deadoxed and zipaling rom tha i am proud of after my hard time with google searching for this staff...But now i am in a dead End.
