[Q] Dazzling ICS Blueness - HTC Amaze 4G

My Amaze has never been rooted or s=off but I did flash the ICS leak.
My question is if my main want is all the blue in ICS would an AOSP ROM be the only way of achieving that?
As far as I have seen launchers never seem to have any affect on the look of the status icons/notification bar.
Thanks ahead of time for your helpful answers.

Excellent! Is something I can flash while remaining stock or can themes only be flashed on rooted devices?

This does requires a rooted device in order to flash it from recovery, but a stock ICS rom is fine. It works on an odexed rom as well since the files are not modifying anything odexed.

superv, you have been quite helpful. I am a bit scared of rooting my phone but I am going to try and take the plunge. I am the type of person that even though binary's "how to" guide might be considered very detailed to most people. For me I have no previous experience with many of the steps that are detailed. I have never "pushed an sdk" used an "all-in-one toolkit" and so on, so I would, out of paranoid instinct, be questioning everything until I got to do it successfully once myself.

2.1 Leak V2 Help -

So I have been running V2 of the 2.1 Leak (the OTA one) for a little bit now, but before that I had been running the very first 2.1 leak, my question is...Will it will brick my phone if I flash GrdLock's eris21official-root.zip since I have had BOTH versions of the 2.1 Leak?
Any help and advice is very much appreciated in advance!
PS- I am new to XDA (as a user) but I have been silently following all of the dev's hard work for some time now and I must say THANK YOU DEVS!

if you are not rooted, you cannot flash any ROMs. this has been said a million times. if you are rooted, flashing to a new ROM will not hurt you as when you flash you are wiping the phone to whatever that ROM is. i have flashed over 100 times and no issues.

Thank you. Not sure if you are familiar with GrdLock's ROM website but on there under his ROMs it states clearly below eris21official-root.zip this; "Root ROM based on 2.1 leak v2"
I am running 2.1 leak v2, but I am not sure if the fact that I ran the original 2.1 leak will negatively effect me if I flash eris21official-root.zip.
I believe I misunderstood the whole "Root ROM based on 2.1 leak v2" - is that meaning the ROM is simply a mirror of the 2.1 leak v2 and not actually a root for the 2.1 leak v2?

If you are on leak, cannot go to any ROM. Plain and simple. There is no root atm for leak. V1 or V2. His ROM that you are speaking of is the V2 leak WITH root.

I'm sorry you feel this way. I do apologize for posting in the wrong section; if a mod feels it's necessary, go ahead and move it to the correct section.
Although for referring to me as a "stray animal" I don't see what I did wrong. My question was quite specific, although it was not needed. My misunderstanding fueled my need to get on here and ask. Again, I am sorry.
stop being so rude
Everyone stop being so rude, he asked a question. Since i guess he didn't know he just asked. But to answer your question: If you upgraded your Eris with the "Leaked 2.1" PB00IMG.zip and the post/website didn't say "With root" then that means you are stuck on the 2.1 leak and you have to wait for someone to come up with a solution to get root for that. But if you upgraded to the PB00IMG.zip with "Root" then you can just go to TheUnlockr.com and search "how to load Custom roms on Droid Eris" and just follow the instructions there.

[Q] rooting first time :)

Hello all,
this is my first time rooting and i have read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=996616, im downloading the files as i type, so my question is, it it hard to root my thunderbolt? also ive read the pros and cons, and i would also like to know from u rooters, what do u like from a rooted phone?
for those who want to just the question, here u go:
1) it it hard to root my thunderbolt? (following the link)
2) u rooters, what do u like from a rooted phone?
yes im excited to attempt to trying to root my thunderbolt ^^
It's not hard, just fallow the instructions to the letter and of course make sure you have adb set up and the proper drivers installed. After that it's pretty much a cut and paste affair.
Second question: Root = freedom, simple enough.
I went to Youtube to setup my adb.

so for now its ok to have no busybox, after i install a ROM it will be in that ROM correct?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153055 this is the ROM i am thinking, will i be able to get that onto my phone? i did the 2.5 version
also ty i appreciate answering my questions!
Before you flash any ROM, do yourself a huge favor, and read the OP (original post) and then read it again. Follow the directons carefully. After your first time its like riding a bike. Search the thread before asking questions too since you will likely get hammered by people for asking questions already asked and answered. Good luck.
BAMF is a great ROM, you might search later in the thread for RC5, Adryn leaked a preview with a different kernel than RC4.

You'll need an MR2 radio for that ROM, I recommend the one from the OTA. You can find it in the development thread, it gets flashed through hboot.
Edit: And yes, the ROM you flash will have busybox built in. And +1 for the post above mine, use the search function, it works well. When you do have a question post it in that ROM's thread or keep it in the Q&A section. Best of luck to you.
Hey there! Yes, this is my first post in this forum I believe, but I've been a heavy lurker since December. Currently, my tbolt is rooted and has been for a few months. I'm running BAMF 3.0 RC4 and I can honestly say, the pros far outweigh the cons. A few of my favorite pros is the ability to run a wider selection of apps, more control, the speedier updates from devs compared to Verizon/HTC, overclocking, better controlled over battery life, no bloat removal..the list goes on and on. Basically, being rooted allows me to make changes to my phone to fit my needs. And yes, it is incredibly easy IMHO to root this phone. Good luck, and have fun.
Should mention too that I did mess up my radio when I flashed GB but it was quickly fixed by reflashing. So the only con has been my own fault. I also believe that you can restore the phone to a "fresh out of the box" state should you ever need to take it back.

Try the RC5 preview with the new MR2 OTA leaked radio. Smoothest combination I've used yet.
Yeah definitely would suggest flashing the official MR2 radio as well. It's been the most solid for me. Had issues with 2.5, and I had slow 3g speeds on the leaked MR2.

I'll try BAMF again when RC5 is officially released. My phone really likes Ziggy's kernels. Was flashing almost daily since I got my bolt trying to find decent battery life. Running Synergy now for a week with no issues. Liked the other roms, but Ziggy's kernel gives me the best life.

[Q] Stock Rooted ROM? (Odex & Deodex)

Are there any devs working on this? Can we get a dev to do this?
Just for those moments when we need to appear stock & bloated.
Please & thank you.

Cool, glad you found it.
If you s-offed and rooted, don't you already have the stock rooted ROM? Why download it again and overwrite the same thing that you already know works?

assuming you want an odex version, yes. if you want deodex, obviously the apk files in /system/app and some jar files might also be different.
the only other things i added to my stock rooted odex rom on the evo was busybox and a few dev linux arm binaries, like strace, tcpdump, etc.
for those who tinker a lot with their system, they might find themselves far away from the original s-off/rooted stock state and want a quick and easy way to return, hence the rooted stock ROM.

[Q] Best way too root 2.3.6?

Ok I know this must be a common question and I have searched however there appears not to be a guide on how to root a stock 2.3.6 phone. I received my phone from a warranty replacement and it came stock with 2.3.6 and all the methods i see have issues rooting 2.3.6 (Breaking wifi) so please help.
Yes Total noob here trying to get ICS and unlock hotspot function on phone. Been reading like crazy and feel pretty lost...
If you take a look in the dev section, theres a thread showing the different ways you can root. (I can't post links for some reason)
Long story short, you have to go back to 2.3.4, root, then update to 2.3.6. You can also download and flash a different kernel that will enable root. Personally, if it were me, I would wait about a week before rooting or updating anything, beuase theres talk of an official ICS release being released on kies.
It seems to be smoother than gingerbread, and thats saying something.
Ok but the official version will still be locked on tethering hotspotting yes?
Or will the devs start working around the official version to root it so we can unlock that functionality?
Main reason I need wifi hotspot is I have a GPS that needs to be able to connect to wifi to get updates on traffic weather ect..

As said above go to the dev section to see how to root. Also if you want with the stock ROM and WiFi teathering go here http://goo.gl/DqmJN.

Says who? The general consensus is that GB is still much smoother as far as touch response goes.
I'm running Official ICS Release from here:

Also the latest siyah kernel. This is running very well and I have no regrets going this route but I can't honestly say it is smoother than gingerbread.

To be completely fair, whether or not the phone runs smoothly depends more on the kernel than on the rom. So the performance you're getting running LE5 rooted with Siyah kernel isn't necessarily indicative of the performance of stock unrooted LE5.

[Q] Where can I find the stock 5.0 upgrade to install using TWRP?

I have Android 4.2 installed on my Galaxy S4. Since I rooted my phone as soon as I got it, I never got any OTA updates beyond that. But now I hear that Android 5.0 (Lollipop) is out for my device, and I want to install it. But all I can find are custom ROMs, and I don't want to install one of those as then I'll have to do a factory reset, which I just did a few weeks ago and I'd rather not have to do all the setup again.
Can someone please point me to where I can find the stock ROM update downloads? I'd like to keep root access after flashing, so let me know if there's anything special I have to do for that.
Thank you!
AFAIK, it's not out yet for our phones.

I'd recommend this ROM, based on stock ROM with limited debloating and a few nice tweaks. There is a link in the first post to the completely stock ROM it is based on by Jkruse if you want that.

It does not have the hot spot toggle.
