This is a comparison between my and my girlfriend's Amazes, her phone still running 2.3.4, stock Sense 3.0. Both phones are set to full brightness:

As you can see, there is a big difference, her phone looks brighter with more clear display and real black, while mine is not really black anymore, but more like very dark grey. Has anyone else with ICS noticed this?
Pretty sure that's by design with this new update. What you're seeing is a software change. If it truly was a backlight issue, you wouldn't notice it in screenshots as it would be a hardware issue. The screenshots would appear the same.
I was assuming it's a software change, just wasn't sure because no one had mentioned it. This dark grey background really looks like an issue to me, though, I've also noticed that sometimes when I long press the display to choose a widget, for a second there I get a grey background with a grid of dots (similar to what you see on the first picture above the "All apps" sign, but slightly darker).

He's right. You can't see brightness on a screenshot. It must be a software change.
MrMako777 and I were talkin about that yesterday. It looks like they designed the UI to blend the light bleed... I found it funny

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone could help me get the 3d flip animation to work on my Hero clocks. I have checked out every preview on youtube and seems like Hero does have the feature especially when you unlock the screen.
My device does not do that for some reason and I've tried to switch from one rom to another and still can't get it to work.
I would appreciate if someone could enlighten me as I really love this phone and have been showing it off infront of my iPhone owning friends
Thanks to all in advance
ciao
its been removed on the rom update cuz it takes up too much resources

IMHO, it never did take up too many resources, or was a specific performance issue. It was just that some people saw it as one.
It was just that the clock widget didn't update when the phone was sleeping or otherwise occupied. It *still* doesn't either - I often wake my phone from sleeping and see my clock is some hours in the past until it changes to a new time. It just does switches "instantly", rather than running an animation now.
Regards,
Dave
Ok, so if I wanna see it again I have to roll back to the initial ROM and suffer with the lagginess. No good news
Thank you guys for your feed back.

Animating Flip Clock Widget
I have a clock widget with a real animating flip, which does not require sense. Check my thread.

should do the trick for all 2.1 sense roms..
Has anyone seen or created an all black theme? I searched through about 5 pages and didnt see anything.
If anyone remembers how Deck used to have his roms themed from the EVO 4G, something like that would be great.
I started working on a black theme a while back but put it on hold. How black are we talking?

As black as you could make it without it being to black. But you would have to have another color like grey or white for everything to pop off of the black.
Ditto. Black backround with white texts for emails, menus, sms, etc. Like CM7.
How about a combo of these 2 in one

Of course, the widgets need to be blacked out and a custom wallpaper, ect...
+1 This is exactly what I want. Black and blue or black and dark purple, I'd rock the hell outta those.
Black with grey and or white everything else. I use a black backround also and it just looked great and clean with that.
im trying to get more devs to assist im trying to do a black menu with white text that would go really good with some of these edits

Here was the original base for the Epic theme with more screenshots:

I don't know how much this matters to others, but I've noticed on my phone that when I do the hand-swipe motion to capture a screen, it works fine but the quality is mediocre. Everything from the color density to the clarity just isn't as crisp/accurate as I would assume and hope it to be. Has anyone else noticed this? If so, has anyone found a way (even if it's an app) that this can be remedied?
I also just tried the ddms approach, it doesn't work for me; screen comes up a peach-ish color across the entire thing.

You're the first I've heard of this problem. All the screenshots should just be unmolested PNGs (without any h/w overlay effects baked in (like mDNIe)) no matter how you take 'em: homebutton+powerdown, handswipe, ddms, airdroid, ...
Post an image of your screenshot here so people can see what you're talking about?

It's just not as...crisp/clear/vivid as it is on my phone. Even the color itself is off. The 2nd one below it is of my old wallpaper, which is a better example of how it's more a faded version of what I see on the phone.

I really wish I could get the ddms method to work, but in the meantime the (minor as it may be) difference between the screen captures and originals bugs a little. It just seems like most of the screen shots I see others post (such as in the thread dedicated to it) look much more vivid.
I noticed this the first day I had my phone, but thought it was just a fluke or some new touchwiz feature akin to the "linens" that iOS 5,6 had. But my note 3, white now on full stock MJ4, never rooted or tampered with yet seems to have some banding and aberrations with displaying medium grays. I have attached a screenshot that you can download and try for yourself. I am positive this is a bug, and with my limited knowledge I feel it is a software issue more than a hardware one that will hopefully get fixed.
Steps to really see the problem:
Download my screen shot on to your Note 3 (or open chrome browser, remove all windows so it is the gray background with the product logo as attached, then screen shot it yourself)
Do the following in a dark environment to see it best. (please)
Open the screenshot in gallery.
Zoom into it and pan around.
Play with different brightness settings and see if the banding with grays is more evident.
Turn on screen rotation, rotate screen.
Zoom and pan on the same screenshot in landscape view to see that the banding is apparent still only on the Y-axis, proving it was not part of the image.
I attempted to capture this on video and even scan it in my scanner, but it wasn't obvious like it is to my eyes. I want to know, does this affect other people's note 3s? If so I won't care as it really isn't a problem. But if it's just my handset, then I want to get it swapped out instead of risking a bad screen or any other on board hardware. I am most worried because the problem is different day to day and the banding seems to be greater towards the bottom of the screen
If you did all this, thank you!

Same issue here as well as my girlfriends N3. If you mess around with the different display settings (dynamic, professional photo, etc) it increases it or decreases it. I've only noticed this with Chrome however. I will boot up my Evo 3D to see if it does it on there as well as my 2k12 N7.

i am looking for a button background graphic to replace the dull android one.
i have a square button with text, the text must be easily visible. i am looking for a graphic that's like webbed lightning. here is a really awful example i made

i would like more "lightning" but with a lower intensity, so text is easily visible on top of it. i think a size of 150x150 should be sufficient, i am also wanting the lighting in these colors dark blue, light blue, yellow, red, and green.
my Photoshop skills are not good enough to make this (i don't use photoshop), not exactly sure how to proceed about getting these graphics, any suggestions?

What exactly do you need? How to replace the button or how to make one?
i am looking for a place/people to get artwork.
the artwork i want is similiar to what i posted, the image i posted is a crappy version of what i want. as i don't have any good Photoshop skills, i was hoping to outsource this. its very hard to describe.
i goggled for hours trying to find some cool custom button themes/graphics, but couldn't find anything useful for me.
i was hoping people here can point me in the right direction.
