Just for kicks, I think it would be cool to have an optional soft key mod; I know AOKP has the option to turn them on or off. If anybody is interested, I could look into porting them over. I'm no dev but I have Eclipse, all of the SDK stuff, and Photoshop; so I'm decently equipped. All I need is a little guidance :b.

There us a way to go into tablet mode and it has the on screen keys. But you would have to search around its in the themes forms.

From what I can tell the images for the softkeys would be in the systemui
if you set your dpi to around 160 or so you should be able to get tablet ui on your phone but with some Fc's on certain apps so those have to be replaced with market replacements
Soft keys like this?

I have the knowledge to do it just never had the time to. I think I looked a few times but there was an obstacle which might have been specific to our device. next time I have hours to kill I'll look at it again
Cool ill look into it, thanks guys.

Let me know if ya get it working I am thinking bout taking a dive and start learning how to devolope some of this cool stuff.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
it doesn't require much dev knowledge. if you know how to decompile and build, edit xmls and smali, basis photo skills it's rather easy
Time to learn how to code XD. I the SDK and eclipse on my computer, so I'll spend the night learning as much as I can.

Just tried this. Doesn't work. Editing bools and strings in xml doesn't seem to work at all with this device. At least not without some extra work. Probably because of sense.
why?
why would you want on screen soft keys? it just seems kind of redundant to have the actual buttons and the on screen soft keys

As a friend with a Gnex told me. It's nice to always have the soft keys in the same place relative to the screen no matter which way you turn the phone.

So i have been looking but haven't found anything. does any body know of a way to turn on like a fast boot mode like the htc phones have on the photon? I love this phone but it takes so dang long to boot up. I think something like this would be great for this phone.

Cm7 and cm9...boots in like 6 seconds

From what i understand both of those have broken 4g and i can't deal with that. i am just stock rooted with some various tweaks here and there, but there is no way to steal some files to help stock boot like that. I mean on the htc phones it is a check box in the settings menu. Sorry i am no good at coding and just have no time with work to really take on a project like this. If anybody knows of a way to do it, i would be willing to make a donation, but i need 4g to work.

You won't be able to do anything without unlocking your phone and breaking 4G. How often do you reboot?

You think it suited for that? On think I agree on its great having this dedicated button for the camera.

it would have to be coded into the game itself, and yes of course it's possible, BUT the game dev would have to capture the camera key or focus key for multiple devices, which I'm sure would be quite hard :/
So I searched the forum and haven't, yet, run across any topics revealing my question, so here it is. With all this modding going on, is there any way or possibility to be able to make the thunderbolt have a native screenshot with hardware keys? Such as, pressing "search" and "power" at the same time and holding to take a screenshot?
Sent From Under A Ghillie Suit
Most newer ROMs have it. Press and hold Power, then press Home.
Can it be incorporated to a stock rooted Rom?

They also have apps in the market to take screen shots, just as easy. I used screenshot ux.
Thats so cool!....I did not know that was even possible....I gotta look more into this.
I found a thread somewhere in I think and Evo thread or something that had files to disable the captive buttons and use On-screen buttons.
But I can't find it now.. and I kinda wanted to know if that would work on the Amaze?
Thanks in advance yo'

So far aokp is the only rom that allows that, that I know of. I'll be honest though, I takes too much screen space, even at 36dpi.

I tried porting the files, but it didn't work. I really dont know what other things need to be modified. I downloaded the mod and saw that it changed the android.policy.jar which I modified. Maybe some other smali needs to be changed.
I would be a happy man if we had some Multi window action haha

I have the multi window feature on an international note I'm using temporarily (my wife wants to try a smartphone) to replace my i717. I haven't even used it yet and can't think of a situation where I could have been better off for using it. I guess people want what they can't have.
IMO in would enjoy texting and videos or email and browser. I would find a use a lot

I have played around with it on s3s and I thought it was a pretty useful feature.
Sent from my SGH-I717D using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the insights. I guess my eyes aren't up to that. I got the note so I could enjoy the large screen. I imagine its just a matter of time before its available.
I used it on a s3 and i dont think i would use it asuch as i thought but i dunno... I just use the recent apps to jump around
Yeah, I think its not a practical thing on a note, but on a 7inch or larger tablet it ciuld be useful for the ways the previous posters described.
Must have
This is a must have feature for people like me because i am always trying to do three things at once with my phone but if i can do two at a time thats a time saver. Blackstar ROMs almost have this perfected. They have the multi window app tray when you hold the back button and you can pull apps out to use for multi window but they do come out half size so they just overlap. I tried downloading Multi window manager and it tried to patch an XML file i think but it still didnt work after. If anyone has some advice on how to get it to work you should check it out
