Hi,
I know the original Neo MT15i is not a super top of the line phone, but neither is it a budget phone. So when I get a startup time of 40 seconds without root I wonder if it is normal? In general I find the phone is a bit slow to react and launch apps as well (immensly slow compared to my girlfriend's Galaxy SII)
Using Android 2.3.4 / carrier 3Three - phone locked to carrier
The startup sequence approx is as follows:
after a 10 second black screen the text Sony Ericsson appears
after 24 seconds the SonyEricsson logotype swoosh animation appears
after 31 seconds the carrier logo appears, and
the locked homescreen appears after a total of 40 seconds.
I have seen videos on youtube where they boot the Neo in literally just a few seconds and the SonyEricsson logotype animation flies by in a second. Compared to mine it's like they were running an SSD and I was still on a 7200RPM HDD.
Is this performance according to standard for this phone?
Would it get better if I rooted?
Thanks!
Mine also booting in 40 seconds (rooted,ICS 4.0.3).I think that is a matter of how many applications you have installed in phone memory. However, you can't compare a dual core with a single core,it's very clear that Galaxy S 2 it's much faster than Neo.
for me its 42 sec
In Stock Rom is normal for 40 seconds late to start, with a modified rom usually takes less. You can not compare Galaxy SII with Xperia neo ... If you have many applications worked slower.
Mine takes 30 seconds for the lockscreen to appear straight after pressing the power button
I use stock .62 gingerbread firmware.
I suggest you to:
*Root phone and delete all useless system apps
*Clear app cache regularly - I use this app, to clean everything. Atleast once a week
*Clean junk from SD card, like app cache files, or old app files, etc.
After doing this, measure the time and see how long it takes to boot.
Hope that helps.
Noob question but, wouldn't deleting the bootanimation.zip speed it up ??
that be like a less 10minutes
And CM7 has an option ~

no need to delete it, you can just edit it(txt file inside) so that it runs only one time.
I'm not sure if phone waits till the end of run then continue to boot, or it cuts animation in the middle of run. hm..
I always use one run animations, so I don't know if it cut's or not
Lol I had 2 minutes some time ago.
It takes about 2:25 for it to boot. No, this is not a first boot after a new ROM installation.
Via Tapatalk 2.0 on ICS
I think it's normal. Mine take around 30 - 40 sec to start. It takes more when there are to much app.
I'm On CM 7.2 Nightly. And even After disabling the bootanimation it is taking 45 sec. to boot and 1 min. to reboot!
How many times s day do you boot your phone, can't really see why it's a concern.
Phone speed is not necessarily relevant the Motorola atrix, dual core 1Ghz ram is seriously slow to boot
Think what you have installed and ed card type/size is more to do with it
Sent from my MT11i using Tapatalk
40 secs is slow. My Xperia Neo (unrooted) boots on 25- 32 seconds only... havent booted for more than 32 seconds. I guess It depends on internal apps loading. have you installed any antivirus app? If you have, then dont... Im not sure but I guess it also sucks up your booting time.. not sure, not so sure. Just a wild guess
Its all dependent on the ROM/Kernel you using
And most importantly the no of apps installed
As at boot im guessing it initializes the file system
Yea its normal mate .. some devices more take more than 40 seconds to boot
No, Its fine!
Before rooting my neo v used to take around 35-40 secs to startup but now after rooting my phone starts in around 25-30 secs
Thanks to the devs at XDA
My Neo V takes 35s.
I don't see any reasons that after rooting it'll be faster, because I've done it.

it becum fast if u delete some of the system apps which previously need to load up at boot

This is true.
(but note that removing bloatwares is more than 'just rooting', get it? )
By the way after bootamimation disappears we still need to wait for it to run smoothly.
40 seconds too
Mine also takes much time and even when i reach home screen i have to wait for many installed apps that run on boot to gain superuser permissions and then start using the phone.
It's like pc. Takes a lot to startup but goes fine after that.

hey guys,
i have a rooted galaxy s 2 and for several weeks now, it has been lagging a lot.. for example:
i'll type something... the screen will freeze, then after a few seconds, the letters show up in a flurry or..i'll swipe the screen, but it won't move, then it'll slowly transition to the next screen... or i'll type a text... hit 'send'... and it won't show up in the message thread for a few seconds...
you get the gist.
the kernel is: [email protected]#2
any idea on how i can get the speed back to normal? i tried deleting a bunch of apps and that didn't work (i didn't have very many to begin with) and i still have roughly 5 gb left on the internal SD. it has gotten to the point where using my phone is becoming a nuisance - it lags sooo much.
thanks in advance.
shouldnt be laggin at all but a few things.
1-check for rogue apps
2-try a different kernel/rom ( i prefer speedmod/criskelo myself)
oh, you might want to do a factory reset as well. However, this device shouldnt be laggin at all with any kernel

Try to remove all the widgets that keep changing their data every second like google reader widget from your home screen if that doesnt work go for factory reset in setting >privacy. Make a backup if possible but i would recommend to it the manual way since it will help you find the culprit much easily, install apps one by one and see what is causing the problem.
Also try a different keyboard, like slideIT or better keyboard.
Or go back to stock one if you are using a non stock keyboard
i tried doing the factory reset, and it seems to have made a slight difference, but there is definitely still a lag. and i've also tried the stock keyboard, swype and swift key- same results. i'm starting to think it might just be a hardware thing. yay for cellphone insurance.
Does anyone else think that the Xperia Ray shutdown/poweroff sequence is a bit annoying? First, it's too long - who needs to confirm twice that they want to switch off their phone? Then it signs off by vibrating which I find really irritating - I'm a committed vibration hater!
Anyone else share this opinion and done anything to remedy the situation? If so, do let me know.
I'm sure the vibration thing's sorted out easily by removing an .apk file or something somewhere.. My Ray's rooted/locked bootloader/ ICS 4.0.4 btw.
go to general section, this is the development thread, don't open up a new thread just to ask this
This how shut down works on every single Android device I have and I really doubt it can be changed...
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Sure it can be changed, I got rid of that (bloody horrible) O2 closedown animation by deleting an .apk file or two from the internal memory. Removing the shutdown vibration should be just as easy.
It's hardcoded in the operating system (probably in services.jar), it's not an apk that you could just delete
Exactly. Any animation can be deleted as it is added by the carrier or manufacturer but the vibration is there in Vanilla Android.
The length will depend on the phone specs, the ROM and the number of process the phone has to shut down (which changes from user to user) so you'll never get anything faster unless Google makes some changes.
On my Atrix running CM7, it's taking 6 to 8 seconds to shut down and the vibration is kind of a an alert saying that it all went fine. Perfect if you shut it down and then put it in your pocket : you know it shut down without having to check it. It's a feature.
Its possible to shutdown with one touch in 1 sec but its like turning off ur PC by pulling out power cable... I would not recommend since OS is saving ur present Settings for Next boot...
If u want to try then check Quickboot app from Play store.. it does the same thing...
That's fine - thanks all for the replies!
By poor response I mean:
- press power button, phone wakes very, very slowly
- enter phonebook/dialer/messages and the phone moves very, very, very, very slowly ( I can't dial or type or anything)
- phone rings and the screen doesn't go on for a long time, when it does I cannot answer the call for about 10 seconds
Restarting the phone doesn't help, reinstalling the software with SUS or PCC doesn't help. Deleting many apps doesn't help. Removing SD card doesn't help.
Why does it do this? How to solve? This has happened on every version of Sony ICS that I've used. Should I try to disable a core or what? I really don't know. I really have to ask this now because I can't figure it out, and I'm missing important calls etc.
Atleast I can solve phonebook and dialer problem
Use ex dialer
Its simple very fast and can be themed
M telling because m using

the best you an do is switch to custom rom and feel the difference......

Thanks guys. I have only used Go stuff on custom ROMS, I'll try it on stock now.
The thing about custom ROMS to me is...you fix 3 problems and 3 new ones are created. There is a great and popular ROM available at the moment that I tested the last 5 versions of and; 1) it doesn't wake when I press power, 2) reboots often 3) lights don't work etc. but it is very speedy and smooth. Hmm

by the way which rom are you talking about???????

Two sides of the same coin...indeed, story of my life, I want everything lol
Maybe it would be OK to say the ROM. I've tried many, but most like CM9. There are so many things I liked about it, but not waking up was really bad and reboots is a little unreliable.

coz I am using fxp 203 and no issues.....

Honestly, I've tried about the last 5 of them...I follow the instructions as they are, and I always backup, wipe everything etc.
I set up another thread recently investigating the hardware requirments of ICS/Jelly Bean etc. to see from a hardware point what you need to get your phone running well. I think I know a bit more now thankfully but my next investigation is exactly what cars are crashing inside this damn phone...
I'm going to test another custom ROM today...here's hoping. There are a lot of alpha ROMS out there which look awesome but are very much in development...

You should flash stock firmware than flash kernel support inti.d tweaks add tweaks and add tweaks to build.prop delete apps you do not need on system/ app for more ram and
No need for a custom rom
And no bugs
And feel the speed
Hi, I downloaded and installed Conduit HD multiple times but I just get a black screen when I open the app. I thought maybe the data was unpacking so I let the phone sit for about 20 minutes and when I came back I noticed that the app was running however it never got in-game as it would just hang at the loading screen (I waited about 20 minutes here as well). Anyone having better luck? thanks

Stock phone? Rooted? ROM version?
If you want some help you should provide the maximum informations on your device to help us guide you.
AW: Conduit HD black screen
I was able to install and play a bit but after some minutes I get random crashes to launcher.
I'm running int hox+ AOKP 2.0c latest kernel. Tried also with stock voltages but same result.
So game installs and starts fine and is very playable but crashes every now and then without any obvious reason.

Hello!
I know its a common problem for everyone. But I think my problem is quite a bit more. It drains fast even if I don't use my phone. One thing is my 3G is on 24/7. But I saw people with some other roms who open the data traffic for 24/7, bt still get 1.5 days service from battery.
My Xperia Go really drains so fast.I uploaded some screenshots. The first two photos, i uploaded the app use right after charging my mobile & in the next pair of photos are next mornings'. In between i just make a call for 10 min. Nothing else. Now say what should I do?
btw, i found just non-system apps like facebook, messenger & whatsapp which might drain some extra battery. Otherwise I have no other major apps non-system apps. I JUST WANT TO RUN MY XPERIA GO FOR AT LEAST ONE DAY WITH A FULL CHARGE
My Phone: Xperia Go rooted with doomlord kit version 14
Build number: 6.2.A.1.100
Kernel version: 3.0.8+ (I think its the stock kernel)
My pc operating system: Windows 8
Is there any better rom for me with pretty much less bugs?
Note: Give me an option without unlocking the bootloader plz

Thanks friend. But I would like stuck with any rom of JB. So if u may help me about that, I will be very happy ^_^
I tried BeAnZ/Google™ BeAnZ Lite 2014/01/01 and my battery life has improved considerably. But again I never had this bad battery. Maybe its a hardware issue ?
Battery drains super fast
Hi Guys even i have flashed with Doomlord for SU access and I am also seeing the same issue..

I did follow some steps:
Step 1:
1. First You go Settings--->APPS--->All Tab---->ECO Mode Controller/ Extended battery mode (Click Clear Data and Force Stop)
2. Then Again you Go Settings--->APPS--->All Tab---Setting.apk (Click Clear Data and Force Stop)
3. Charge Your Mobile 4 to 5Hours
4. After 4-5 Hours While Charging That Time You Click Vol Up+Power Button( after 3 times Vibrate)
5. Remove Your Charger and Again Plugin Your Mobile The Sony Logo With Comes And Charging Logo has been Shown
6. Then Power On Your Mobile While Charging
7. Then Go Setting--->Power Management TURN ON BATTERY STAMINA MODE.
8. Then see the battery state.
Step 2:
As ur phone is rooted like me, install Greenify app & add those app works in background even if u don't use the phone. May be Greenify will stop them.
Step 3:
In power mangement, press the stamina mode & exactly add apps like which u did in grennify. In my case Facebook, Facebook Messneger & Whatsapp were the most dangerous app. So i added those.
Step 4:
Use app2sd card software & transfer app from phone memory to sd card. It mau help a liitle.
after these steps i get some little improvement
Note: There's always some bug in other roms. That's why i didn't install any
hey thanks for replying ...
I was using ALL THE PROCEDURES THAT U ALREADY MENTIONED...
BUT I THINK ITS A BATTERY ISSUE...I HAVE BEEN USING IT SINCE ONE AND HALF YEAR OR SO..
EVEN SOME BATTERY APPS SHOW THAT IT CAN SAVE ONLY BATTERY WHICH LONGS FOR 1HR OR SO WHERE IT IS SUPPOSED TO SAVE FOR A 5 HR TALK TIME
U CAN USE " No Bloat Free" to disable system apps if u dont want to use...:cyclops:
I am gonna replace the battery i guess..
Sony ericsson is not providing a battery replacement , they are asking for warranty and all which is expired in my case..
Anyways Thank YOu..
Well try factory format its work for me
also always charge your fon atleast more than 55%

I'm having trouble with the same phone but different rom. I'm running CM11 on my GO and battery lasts about 7-8 hours. This is with some maps usage, 10 minute calls, 10 viber messages and some surfing using Firefox. I've greenified everything including Viber & Whatsapp. I also got Juicedefender turning 3g off when screen is off and turning it on briefly every 15 minutes. Clean master is also running in the background because I have to keep clearing ram.
Edit: oh, and I got No frills cpu control set to 200/800mhz Interactive/Noop
Going back to stock rom might help but then Viber "effs" things up and dialer starts lagging.
Any other tips? This piece of crap phone has been nothing but trouble since the beginning.

It's the screen that drains most of it, how long has it been on?
And it is weird because it doesn't show to be awake when screen is on which usually is the other way (awake with screen off).
Check CM thread to see if it's a known/fixed bug.
I updated to the latest CM11 and things are a bit better now... I'm getting about one days use. Which still isn't much considering most of the apps are greenified. Anyway.....
edit: and I've tried to keep the screen brightness at constant ~25-30%.
