I can't seem to get WiFi tether to work on the RezRom1.2. I have the beta version that everyone uses and the settings are correct. It just says "starting wireless tether" and after 5 minutes starts with errors and does not work. I do notice that superuser never asks for permission during the apps opening. I have tried reinstalling the Rom several times as well as the app . Help

In addition to this if SuperSU does not all you to "grant" access for Wifi Tether, go into SuperSu settings and change default action from "Promt" to "Grant".

I just switched from dad bamf 4.9 to eternity 8-4 on my HTC Thunderbolt. When I try the Wi-Fi hotspots it shows the network is connected, but won't connect to the internet. Is this a known bug that has a fix, or do I have to keep switching roms to use the hotspots?
Also, is there an over locking app to boost the processor?
Thank-you
Kyle

What are your wifi hot spot settings currently? If you're restoring the settings from tibu that could be why it doesn't work. You may try updating the app.

You mean like the security settings in the hotspot app? The security, user name, and PW are all the same as before I loaded the new rom. My kindle fire shows that it's connected to the hotspot, I'm just not getting any internet signal. How would I update the app?
Thank you

Edit: Ok So I downloaded an app called WiFi Tether v3.2 from
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list
there's other versions, but I got the newest. It opens and says it's operational, but on my Kindle, it just keeps saying "obtaining IP address" and won't connect... I have the credentials the same as they were in the stock hotspot app.
You probably need to change the device profile. I don't know whet the kindle uses but try setting it to Google nexus one. Also make sure routing fix is checked

I set the device profile to "Thunderbolt (CDMA/LTE)," changed the channel to 10, and clicked the "Routing Fix" radio button. It's working! However, it will stop working after a while, then I have to reboot my phone to get it to start again. Thank you so much for your Help, disconnecktie.
Are you currently using the Eternity InfectedROM? If you are using it, or are pretty familiar with the ROM, I have a couple more general questions about it.
Thanks Again.
I ran it for about 2 months. I prefer the r248 build over the newer ones. What's the question? Oh and make sure you change your wifi sleep policy to never and that might help with the connection issues you're having.

If you're in public make sure to use a security method and check access control so other people can't jump on your tether. If you enable access control you have to allow the connection either by selecting it in the pull down or from the menu of the tether.

Running rooted stock ROM. I've tried the Wi-Fi Tether beta app and and stable app. I've adjusted the settings for each according to other posters. Still can't get tethering to work. I'm coming from the razr maxx which I was able to change value of entitlement check to use native hotspot. Is this possible on the note 2? Apart from paying for foxfi, what is everyone else doing?

I have used Treve mod's wifi tether for years...works perfectly on the note 2. Get the APK here http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390169635556426686 and then here are the settings I use:
Device Profile: Galaxy S3 (closest to the note)
Change setup method: Netd-Ndc (master)
Sent Netd Max Client Cmd: check
Enable wifi encryption: check (set your password)
Wifi driver reload: check (only the first one, not reload 2)
Routing fix: check (might already be defaulted that way)
Thanks guys. I believe I've tried both of those. Must be operator error. I'll try them again.

I have mine set same as tfly except I have driver reload 2 checked instead of 1. Also, I tried at first and it didn't work on VZW remix which uses koush superuser...found a thread somewhere that suggested switching to supersu; I did that and now it works flawlessly. So try super su if you haven't, it might make a difference.

Wifi Tethering Note 2 4.1.2 Youtube Video
Goi to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHXkiqvbzWM and follow the instructions. There is a link as well that will take you to where you can get your latest Wifi tether TrevE app.
I rooted my OTA VRUAME7 Verizon S4 but can't seem to get wifi tether to work. I've tried both of the newest Wifi Tether for Root (3.3 beta 2 and 3.4 experimental 1). Changing the device-profile to S4 doesn't help. It will start up and say "started with errors." Checking the log results in a "no log file" error.
I also hunted around with SQLite Editor trying to find an entitlement check, and came up empty (to use the built-in mobile hotspot).
Has anyone successfully figured out how to WiFi Tether on a rooted OTA VRUAME7?
Thanks in advance! :good: :good:
To add the hotspot toggle:
Download app => Click Me
Got to => Settings storage
Click => settings.db
Click => system
Search for "notification"
Highlight => notification_panel_active_app_list
Click the edit "pencil"
In the "value" section add "WiFiHotspot;" anywhere you like...
Restart phone
Note: Make sure your list ends with a semi-colon
If you see the warning screen, just hit home.

Could it be any easier? So the only danger here is exceeding your data limit?

Hey guys/gals, here is a fix for the VZW GS4 that resolves the issue of WiFi hotspot tethering. In the latest update, you now get an errors message that checks for an active subscription and then gives you an error and turns off the hotspot. Here are 2 methods I found.
Method 1: Download any app that allows you to freeze/defrost packages. If you cannot find one or do not have one, download an app called System Tuner by 3c. You have to find a package called "SPG" (system package). Freeze this package and it will prevent the phone from checking for a subscription service. Run your non-factory hotspot app. It will crash and maybe freeze for the first time, and then exit, just reopen it and it should then work.
Method 2: Using System Tuner, find the package called "SPG" and click on it so that it becomes highlighted. Then click "Details" so that it brings up the info about the app. It should show a list of packages under the "Activites" section (near the bottom). Uncheck the box labeled "NewSPGActivity". After this, you can run your hotspot app and it should crash/freeze for the first run. After that, it should run smoothly.
I hope this works for you all. If you have any questions or issues, just reply to this thread. Don't forget to give me a thanks!
Note: Do not use the built-in wifi hotspot toggle switch, it will crash. Download an app from the market to toggle it.
Note: If you cannot access the settings by clicking on the Hotspot notification, do this: settings>more networks>mobile hotspot.
Note: I am running ME7 with 4.2.2 JellyBean and stock rom.

Foxfi works with no subscription notice all you have to do is make a pattern lock when it asks you.

If you are trying to run the hotspot from the built it button, it will crash. Use an external app for your hotspot. I use "1-click tether" at the moment. I'm going to do some more looking right now.

FoxFi uses your data plan, so if you don't have unlimited data it will cost you a lot of money. The technique I'm using prevents the phone from checking if you have an active subscription or not. Also, FoxFi limits how long you can use it continuously if you don't purchase the pro version. I used to use FoxFi before i rooted my phone.
On VRUAME7 build hack is not required. Toggle the built-in Wifi hotspot on and as soon as the subscription check message comes up just press the home button and it will go in the background but you will be able to still use tethering.

IF you are correct, you still have to deal with the message every time you want to tether. Also, since you have to hit the home button, if you want to change your setting or anything then you have to go back into the app and deal with the message again. This just makes it easier. Your idea just avoids the issue, mine fixes it. I wasn't trying to be rude or anything. Have a good day!
