Ok, so I recently upgraded to ICS leaked rom and wanted to move on to the ICS updated Revolution Rom. Problem is I tried to run superwipe and rom installation with CWM touch recovery instead of EXT4 Recovery Touch. the superwipe failed and the Rev Rom failed shortly after beginning. I think the system files are wiped and now I get to the HTC logo and it stops. I can't HBOOT into CWM recovery either. Fastboot has limited use and the phone doesn't boot far enough to use ADB. Any ideas?
Pull battery
Take your SD card out put in ICS leaked RUU as ph85img
replace battery and SD card
Hold down volume down and power
let it install ICS leak RUU again
then this time get 4ext recovery and you're good
THANKS

THANKS SO MUCH! Worked perfectly.
I did the exact same thing, installed super wipe and revolution rom through cwm and the ICS rom failed. then it would freeze at the HTC boot screen, i tried to reinstall the stock ICS and same thing, then i was not able to load any recovery from hboot.. I finally got a recovery loaded after reflashing my backed up recovery from the Controlbear app for s-off. i have tried flashing everything under the sun (recovories, boot.img's, stock Telus RUU, custom GB roms) and still am stuck at the HTC screen.. The stock ICS rom boots to the "Android 4G T-Mobile" boot splash then hangs there... any ideas or did i really just brick my $700 phone.. I also didn't have 4EXT not can i try that now as i can't boot my device to install it... is there maybe a recovery image for 4EXT that i can flash through fastboot??
Guys... I don't use superwipe any more. I really wish people would just use 4ext and make their lives easier. I don't get why this amazing tool is available to us all but there are still people screwing up with cwm...

Hasoons All-in-one tool will flash 4Ext for you, I believe.
i've never had any issues using CWM before... is there anyway to flash a 4EXT recovery image from fastboot? if so where can i get it??
is there anything else i can try to get rid of this soft-brick? I'm not a noob by any means, i've been doing this for years with the htc touch, then move to HD2, and now the amaze.. this is the first time i've really enountered any serious issues with flashing customs roms on my phones...
Edit: i have hansoons all-in-one, tried both v2.4 & v3.0 and neither have 4ext just TWRP & CWM

I have 4EXT recovery on the phone now.. It appears that the device has an "error mounting /Internal_sdcard" and this may be where my device hangs after attempting to boot android in any rom what so ever... Hboot has no problem reading my /Ext_SD but 4EXT can not see it.. the other CWM recoveries are touch and go to if it can see the SD Card itself.. CWM 5.0.2.7 has no problem seeing it and flashing...
Is there a way to manually Erase or format the /Internal_Sdcard partion from hboot or fastboot as i can't even install file as zip as i believe the path to the SD card is /Internal_sdcard/Ext_SD..
also what exactly does 'wipe or format ->EXT3' & EXT4 do? with this also try to attempt to format the Internal SD?
Or did i completely fry the 16Gb internal memory somehow???

+1. superwipe is BS. the ONLY "superwipe" ive seen that actually works is the one made by TDJ. everything else is just smoke and mirrors. it doesnt do any more than a manual wipe thru recovery options...

I'm getting a boot loop and I can't figure out how to fix it. Originally, I used Hasoon's tool to unlock bootloader and I flashed CWM recovery and then used his tool to get perm root. My Amaze originally had GB to begin with and I tried to flash the Energy ROM but then it would freeze while loading and then go to the HTC screen and repeat over and over.
So I've been reading some things and I think my problem (I could be wrong) is that I should've obtained s-off or went to ICS first. I have used Hasoon's tool to flash the 4EXT recovery and I have tried flashing the kernel several times and that didn't help.
Then I came across this thread and was giving it a shot but it didn't work. I went to the File Factory link and there are several different choices to download. I downloaded "PH85IMG_RUBY_ICS_35_S_TMOUS_2.14.531.3_Radio_1.14.550L.17DC_30.78.550L.15_release_259626_signed" and put it on my SD card and renamed it to "PH85IMG" Now when I go into recovery, it says:
SD Checking…
Loading…[PH85DIAG.zip]
No Image!
Loading…[PH85DIAG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
Loading…[PH85IMG.zip]
At this point it has a status bar on the top right of the screen and eventually it will go on to say:
Checking..[PH85IMG.zip]
Wrong zipped image!
Loading…[PH85IMG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
Loading…[PH85IMG.tar]
No image!
(and a few more lines of this stuff that I couldn't read fast enough)
I've rooted one other phone before but didn't have problems like this and was hoping I could get pointed in the right direction.
CWM doesn't flash the kernel. You need to run a kernel flasher to flash the boot.img stored inside ROM.zip and then it will boot

Thanks for the reply. Like I said, I've only rooted one phone before so I'm kinda new at all this so excuse any ignorance on my end. I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but I just tried doing the following:
I went to recovery (4ext), plugged my phone into my PC and using Hasoon’s tool (ver.3.1), I flashed the “Stock T-Mobile US” kernel. After that, my phone rebooted but then got stuck on the HTC logo screen. So then I pulled the battery, put it back and loaded bootloader. It tried loading PH85IMG.zip but failed saying “Wrong zipped image!” again. I didn't try it, but I'm sure if I went in and cleared the cache and tried to install a ROM, it would get me back into the boot loop.
Is this what you meant by running a kernel flasher or did you mean something else? Thanks.

You're the man!!! The key was using Hasoon's tool to RELOCK the bootloader. I hadn't done that before. Thanks a lot for your help. I want to try getting that Energy ROM now and want to make sure I do it right this time.
So am I right in thinking that I have to get a leaked ICS RUU > rename it to PH85IMG > place it on the root of the SD card > go to bootloader and let it update > unlock bootloader using hasoon's tool > flash recovery (4ext) > download desired ROM > place on root of SD > use recovery to wipe cache and install ROM?

Okay so today I decided to try to install an ICS rom to my phone and I flashed the PH98IMG in fastboot and then after that was done my phone would only boot to a black screen. So I deleted to PH98IMG from my sd card and now my phone will only let me into the hboot and I can't do anything else!! I've re-locked my bootloader but not sure where to go from here. Any help getting my phone back to any working state whether it is rooted or not would be great!
If you still have the from on unlock the phone boot into boot and flash the kernel manually(fastboot flash boot boot.img). You may not have seen the mainver error flash by when you flashed the rom

Can you reflash your nand to get back to ground zero?
I've been having to use the PC to flash boot.img since all the mainver errors
My backup is hosed which I'm okay with. I just want my phone to work again Well I installed a custom rom in recovery and it said that installed okay but now it still only boots to a black screen. So now I'm just wondering if I'm having an issue with the ph98img.

I believe you are.
Are you familiar with using cmd.exe and adb?
If you can get into recovery, mount you external card and pull the ph98ing file to the PC.
inside that zip file is a file called boot.img.
use the command "fastboot flash boot boot.img" and it will load the kernal.
I'm skipping a lot assuming you know what I'm talking about.
Read this post and it will help out tremendously. It did for me.

What ROM are you running currently?

Should not have any problem factory resetting just make sure that you deleted the PH98IMG file from the root of your sd card.
Right now I'm running BAMF Rezound Cubed 1.0.2 Stockish and Themed but I want to go back to the stock gb rom and just leave it rooted
I don't know what mainver that BAMF ROM is on but if it is different than the OTA stock you can use this tool con247 just made to help in situations where mainvers differ.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497984
If the BAMF ROM is 2.x mainver you can run the RUU for that version and get yourself back to stock, then flash Amon Ra recovery and install su and you'll be stock GB and rooted.
I've already completed all of the steps from hansoon2000's guide here including installing T-Mobile's ICS and \4ext recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619491
Now the next step I wanted to do is install CapromCE. What I did was install the "required" firmware (the link in CapromCE's thread was down but I was able to find the file uploaded by NRGZ28 with identical MD5). I then installed CapromCE through Recovery. Should I have renamed it to PH85IMG and installed through Bootloader?
Installation went fine but I was stuck at the second HTC logo (green logo on black background). I was still able to access Recovery but it couldn't load the internal SD. This was fixed by formatting the SD and I was able to successful re-install the T-Mobile ICS by renaming it to PH85IMG and loading it through Bootloader.
Anyone can figure out where I've messed up?
Thanks!
Install zip from sd after wiping should be all you need to do. Make sure you backup stock ROM in case you have to go back

You restore everything to complete stock when you flashes the ics ruu via bootloader, now start the entire process all over again, this time wipe your partitions before installing the zip file and make a note as previously stated to backup before doing so.

Hello , thank you for reading this. I'm trying to fix my amaze, it's stuck on the HTC boot logo. Phone was running latest tmobile rom, i unlocked the bootloader and rooted it to remove some tmobile bloatware using bloat freezer. Well the phone kept having these weird problems so i looked to install a custom rom. I installed clockworkmod recovery and then put my downloaded rom which was in a ZIP file onto the sd card. I booted into recovery, made a backup, then wiped data, then wiped dalvick cache or w/e it's called. wiped partition, then installed the ROM. the initial setup went good, phone said successful boot but when i restart it stays on the boot logo. So after some reading it looks like i didn't flash the kernel. So i found the boot.img file in the rom zip file but now i'm not sure what to do with it. I can boot into recovery but that is it. How can i flash the kernel with just clockwork recovery mod? Please help! I obviously would really like to get my phone up and running.
So as of now i have some custom roms on the SD card along with the OEM Ruby rom. I tried installing the tmobile stock ruby rom and it just says install aborted and it can not install. What should i do now? I juts want to get the phone working now. Thanks
Install 4ext recovery, it will flash the kernel for you, just make sure to turn on smartflash in the settings before you flash a rom if you're still S-On. If you're S-Off, then no need for smartflash

Okay so the tmobile stock rom is on the sd card. I renamed it to PH85IMG.zip and booted into hboot mode, it found the zip package and there was a loading bar. But then it went back to the boot screen. I tried restarting and it wouldn't move past the HTC quietly brilliant screen. I tried using the all in one tool kit to flash 4ext but it just keeps saying waiting for device. Pretty sure it wont work in clockworkmod recovery. Starting to get worried

Too flash the T-Mobile ruu you would have to relock your bootloader first.
As for flashing 4ext with the toolkit, when it said waiting device, were you in the bootloader, or did u select fastboot?

i think he was in recovery. ok so flash 4ext with the toolkit (i think you need to be in fastboot for the toolkit to flash it). then go to tools(in 4ext recovery) scroll down till the end and make sure smart flash is enabled (when it says enable smart flash means its not enabled and you need to click that, if it says disable smart flash then dont touch it you re good). then you can install a custom rom and it wont boot loop
hope this helps
hey guys thank you so much for taking time to help me! i got it flashed with 4ext and now using smartflash i'm able to flash roms onto it. so relieved to get it working, thanks again!

so my hone is HW002 ~ CDMA ~ Sprint ~ S-Off ~ 1.58.5858HBoot ~ 2.89Firmware ~ 4EXT ~ Anthrax ~ Viper3D, i tried to install cm10 and my phone got stuck in boot loop, i downloaded my hb to 1.4 and it still got stuck in boot loop, downgraded to 1.04 hb and same thing, tried to go back to hb1.58 everything seemed to install fine, but after i reload rom phone just stuck in boot loop again, dont know what to do been at it for hours and getting no where
What I would do (actually, what I did): download Ramjet's file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889438 . Lock your bootloader and then flash the ruu.exe (you'll still be s-off). At this point you will be stock with no bootloops.
Then, load whichever custom hboot you want, then load 4ext recovery from the zip. You should be good to flash the custom Rom of your choice.
You may also wish to backup and reformat your sd card to make sure there are no bad sectors causing the issue.

got it to work with stock rom got it to work with venom tried all the steps to run chads cm10 and i just get stuck in bootloop
gave it another try, and got it to work =)
step by step if your coming from hb1.58
first make sure your phone is charged (install went alot cleaner with out the phone pluged in when flashing for me)
download PG86IMG_eng_hboot.zip from here http://www.mediafire.com/?7mwc27uclw11lux (make sure to rename file to PG86IMG.zip and put in the rood directory of your sd card
make sure you download ROM-AOSP-ANTHRAX-SHOOTER-RLS3.zip if you havent already and save it to your sd card
make sure you have 4ext already installed with the current rom your running (makes life 100 times easier)
reboot phone into bootloader and let it install PG86IMG.zip it will ask you to reboot the phone let it reboot into bootloader just to make sure it changed you back to 1.04 then pull battery pull sd card and hopefully you have a micro sd card reader so you can delete or rename the PG86IMG.zip file (after you rename or delete PG86IMG.zip reboot into bootloader so you can boot into recovery 4ext)
once your in recovery (4ext) wipe everything from top to bottom except the last one which is sd card
after you wiped all go back to the main directory go to power menu and reboot back into recovery (make sure you reboot back into recovery before trying to install ROM-AOSP-ANTHRAX-SHOOTER-RLS3.zip after wiping everything for the first time)
after you rebooted back into recovery install ROM-AOSP-ANTHRAX-SHOOTER-RLS3.zip (it has its own wipe script so dont worry about wiping again) and at the end of the install it will ask you to reboot select yes
after the rom installs click on the ok/check box so the phone can reboot and done, if everything was done correctly it will boot up on the first try like it did for me after i figured it all out
want to give thanks to MasterChefChad for making the rom and the kernel, NineInchNails for helping with the install directions, and nolimit06 for archiving all the files
Thanks Todd for posting your fix. Looks like I'm switching to the eng hboot later. I've had issues of late booting any non sense Rom (bootloops at splash screen), so I'll try this.
I have the Evo V (Virgin Mobile's Evo 3D CDMA) and I looked at about six different guides on how to get a custom rom onto it. Most of them didn't say anything about downgrading Hboot, or if they did they said that the JoupunutBear S-OFF method would work by as then it would be 1.57.5757 (which it now is). I've seen talk about a .zip that you can flash in recovery to downgrade, but any link I have seen is dead. All other methods that I have seen for downgrading HBOOT says that I would have to undo everything I have done. That would really suck to have to do.
I'm trying to get PAC 4.2 or 4.3 on this thing. I had tried TWRP 1.1.1, 2.2, and currently I have 4EXT 1.0.0.5 RC3. Everything is completely wiped. Like I said I used JoupunutBear to S-OFF, and the device is unlocked.
So could somebody direct me to a flashable .zip so that I can downgrade HBOOT and put a rom onto this phone, or help teach me what I did wrong and should do from here?

Once you put this on your sd card and rename it, you will not be able to access recovery until you remove it.
When you have a pg86img.zip on the root of your sd card, and you boot into bootloader it will force you to either update or reboot.
So I suggest flashing a Rom, such as harmonia or butterz sense, that will work with any hboot. That will avoid any bootloops.

Rename this file to pg86img.zip
Put it on the root of your sd card
Pull the battery, put it back in
Hold vol down and power
When in bootloader accept the update
Now you need to remove or rename the file on your sd card
Boot to recovery
Wipe all partitions
Reboot recovery
Wipe all partitions again
Flash Rom
Reboot phone
