Tuff-Luv Hemp Case - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Got myself the Tuff-Luv Transformer Prime Case and I love it.
It adds quite some bulk on the device and get's your complete thing a bit on the heavy side. But for, like me, everyday, business and leisure use, that thing was really needed.
Can't post the link for the pics I took neither can I send the link of the case. But you'll know how to find where to get yourself the case

I also have the Tuff-luv case, the fake leather version and while I do like the quality of the case I am unable to fully close my prime when docked due to the thickness of the case between the prime and the dock down near the hinge, guess I will have to send it back.

Not sure if you already sent it back or not, but my Poetic case did the same thing when I first got it. I just laid it down upside-down and it eventually worked fine. That said, do so at your own risk, as it may cause issues at the hinge. Mine is fine and I am not really sure what adjusted to make the case fit, but I have heard of people having the case separate a little.

You may be right; the hinge on my tablet may be getting loose. It's hard to tell mostly because I've had it almost at the same time I've had my tablet and it's always in it's case now.
That being said, has Tuff-Luv said something about this possible issue?

blurex case review with a ton of pix

I ordered this case last week and so far I am really loving it. First things first, I really like the build quality. The case gives you alot of options with different viewing angles which is nice. It has leather on the outside and felt on the inside. All ports are accessible and you can even plug into the keyboard dock without having to remove from the case (huge bonus for me). I don't have anything to compare to but it seems very slim. I have never been a case guy for my phones but with a tablet I don't think it matters as much. Overall I am very glad I bought it. For the price, $25, the quality is second to none. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Link to sale site below.

Edit: i do want to add that I just noticed the speakers look like they might be covered in the pix but when you take off the bumper guard you can see they are not covered at all. If anyone cares.....
Case looks nice. I just brought the rotating one but this looks really good.

I bought the rotating one too and hate it
The popper is a stupid idea, impossible to remove and attach with the TF insde without almost cracking the screen from the back
Should have been Velcro I think, I might replace it
Also the TF doesnt sit straight inside it, so the camera is partially covered by the back of the case

I don't know. Very sturdy so it SEEMS like metal. It's covered in leather so hard to tell.
I have the blurex case same as OP and love it. I've had several different tablets and tried most all the versions of cases, and this Blurex is the best I have ever had. It is extremely functional also looks really classy.
I ordered the Blurex case after reading your review and I just got it in the mail today. Its really nice, the fit is perfect with no slipping or sliding. The only thing I dont like is that the bottom is quite tight so its kind of awkward to put into the stand mode. Im sure itll break in though with use.

Yeah its gets a little more loose. But to be honest I like having it somewhat hard to get out. I just have to add, it passed to toddler test this weekend with flying colors
I bought this from Amazon after reading this review.
Great case, really nice. Thanks!
Picked up this case from Amazon UK to replace a previous case, love it, really well made, solid professional finish and really light.
I think the best part is having 100% of the screen area visable

Yeah definitely. Big reason I bought I it actually and it did not disappoint. The case does not cause any extra steps to get the tab docked.
anybody have a pic with the case on and docked?
Here u go dude. U obviously cannot close the case while docked but everything else is cool.
just ordered one thanks to this review for bringing it to my attention. Hope I like it. Was really hoping for something like the speck candy case for the ipad. Can't such a beast so got this guy. Thks
I love this case.
Ordered and received this case because of this review. I love it. When it is closed, it feels very durable, and I don't worry about breaking the transformer. When opened, the different viewing angles are perfect.
Thanks for posting this review and steering me towards this case!

Swivel case

So I was searching for a replacement case because I'm really unhappy with my poetic slim case. I was searching on Overstock and came across this swivel case, and im in love. I've seen one similar for the ipad, but did not know one existed for the transformer. It leaves access for all ports, has a hard plastic back covered with that fake leather type feeling material. The transformer can rotate 360 degrees in the case as well as stand. The case does not add much bulk, but protects all sides, screen, and back. It closes with an elastic strap. I'm really happy with this new case!

Yep, I have about the same case, I purchased mine off Amazon. It's superb. My only complaint is that it's somewhat easy for the TF to fall out of the grooves when you have it propped up. Still, works great for what I wanted.

Yes, very good case. Most case has cut opening on the corner and the tablet will dent if drop. This case covers all corner and it is very solidly build. There is the two and three groove version, get the two groove one. Mine holds the tablet very well and doesnt came off easily.
We just received ours and I could not be happier. It's exactly what I wanted out of the case.

yes! I dont know why it didn't occur to me that it would just swivel to the side with the charge port

Thanks for the heads up on this case!
I have a couple questions. How easy is it to remove for those of us who have the dock? Also if you fold the lid back how flat does it lay like if you were to read with it?
Interested, may buy one.

It is pretty easy to remove the case. It holds the tablet very securely, but is easy to take out. And the lids folks back 2 ways. Either close to the swivel point, our in the muddle if the case. either way, it lays very flat.
Is it dockable? I only ask because the picture on overstock has a dock showing. If not its still a nice case for the price.

Not to bump an old thread, but is this case available with 3 angles instead of just two? How well does the plastic housing protect the tablet? I'm assuming is not removable like the RooCase as well.
Actually this case was the second one I bought..
I love this case... the TF is easy to put in it and remove it (while still being secure) and I dont own a dock so I cant say as to that, but other than it slipping out of the grooves sometimes its the best case I have seen... this is my new go to..
Are any of the cameras obstructed by the case? My original case I replaced (rooCase) had camera holes as small as those and the back camera looked like it had a circular vignette. The front camera only became affected when the case shifted a bit. Looks like this case would have similar issues, even though I love the rotatable aspect.

Thanks for the update, looking forward to their release.
Wow, this is pretty slick looking. I might pick one up in Feb. Until then I am just going to use a neoprene case to carry it around like a laptop and use it naked when I take it out.
I thought I saw in another thread someone say there is very little clearance between the keyboard and the screen when it is closed. I wonder how a case like this will work if that's true.
You need to un-dock the keyboard.
wwwamazoncom /MiniSuit-ASUS-Transformer-Keyboard-Portfolio/dp/B006ULQPTI/ref=pd_rhf_se_p_t_3
Its available for pre-order on amazon. add the periods and delete the space after .com
But it will not be able to close properly with that Tuff-lov thing...?
There's leather on top of the keyboard dock and alson on the front of the tablet.. So thats 2 x leather layer when trying to close the thing.. it cannot be healthy for the dock hinge....
I think I've seen the Case Logic case asked about or maybe even shown somewhere else but I can't find it (I've searched, no luck). SO I'm hoping this might be a good place to post pics, at least it's on topic (except it's not leather).
I've seen this online but I stumble across at Walmart so had to check it out knowing I could easily return it. I is a semi-hard sided case that will hold the tablet and dock when they are connected (or if they are not, just be careful where the hinge is on the dock when you close the case if its' not connected).
I like it. It's growing on me. It offers a lot of versatility. At first I thought wth am I going to do with the dock when I only want to use the tablet (where am I going to store it or put it if I'm traveling or at a friends, etc) but quickly found it kinda just stashes away on it own within the case. Problem solved!
My opinions, fwiw:
Pros -
*cost $25
*durable, rugged
*really good fit
* soft lining, extra padding behind the tablet
*presents well ( easily walk into any meeting or class room with this)
*while it's not technically a portfolio, there is room for some note paper and my stylus fit in there in a little spot on top and the mettle never hit any of the metal on the tablet or dock
*neoprene cover does just *barely* wraps around it if I want added cushion
*versatile viewing angles
*can keep dock in the case detached from tablet and still use tablet with case
*you can leave the top straps on and attached to the top corners of the tablet when you close the case - it's not putting any pressure on the dock hinge at all, it adds a little more cushion between the two units, plus it fills up the space within the case a little more
Cons -
*the strap on the top left corner WILL hit the volume rocker.
*takes a bit of fooling around with the middle velcro part to see how and where it will work with the hinge, but it's worth the little extra time so it doesn't get messed up later
*be careful if you've detached the dock and try to close the case with the units separated - the hinge needs to be in the right place or we might risk breaking it or scratch the glass - maybe not but I wouldn't want to force it or risk it.
*it adds significant overall weight. I don't have a scale that will measure it , but it is heavier. That being said, I may not to drop it from my 3rd story balcony, but I feel pretty safe with it withstanding most common impacts and injuries. If I took the time to add another thin cushion later I am fairly certain it would withstand any fall from counter or waist height
whats the name of the case logic case?
It's this one I think (or very very similar):
http://www.amazon.com/Case-Logic-ETC-110-10-Inch-Tablet/dp/B004XANKWI
I got it at Walmart for $25.
The biggest pro to this one is that it will securely hold both tablet and dock. I'm glad I have it, I wont be returning it, it will serve it's purpose when I need a case like this. At home, I'm very careful. Now I know I can take both with me and they will have a safe home, too

FWIW
I have the Transformer Prime with keyboard, and just got the mini suit case. I like it, for the most part. The leather feel is much nicer than the other brands I've seen. And it's really cool how it covers both the Prime and the dock, yet will come apart (with a couple of snaps) when you don't want to bring the dock along. The only thing that bugs me is the sloppiness of the cover without the dock. It's like a book with a very old, very loose, sloppy binding. I'm not sure I like that, and may decide to pick up one of the cheaper covers to use when I'm not planning to have the dock with me.
I have a question too, about the dock. Is there a forward delete key? Or a hot key that works to delete forward instead of backspacing? That missing function has bugged me since I first discovered Android! Just sayin'...

[Q] Case Choice Dilemma

Hi everyone,
I just bought my Transformer Prime last week, and I am faced with a major dilemma. I'm scared to death that I'm going to drop it, so I've been using the case I bought for my granddaughter's original Transformer. It doesn't quite fit, but it works.
I'm trying to decide how to protect my new tablet. I like the look of leather and a well-padded case would provide good protection, and the ones with stands are very utilitarian. However, it would be a shame to cover up such a beautiful device! (After all, its good looks are one of its strong selling points.)
Has someone found a good solution for protecting their tablet while still being able to show it off?
(I apologize if this question has already been answered; if so, please just point me to a link. Sometimes it's really hard to find the right search terms.)
Thanks!
I have ordered the case shown in link below. In my case I have the Dock also and this seems to me the Best available. Though this might not be what you need thought I would at least post it for you.

I've got a simple 10" laptop/tablet neoprene sleeve. The prime fits nicely inside it with or without the dock attached. Apart from that i dont have any protection on it right now and its been working well for me. Having it for 2 months now and i dont have any scratches. And i have it with me most of the times in my backpack or guitarcase.

Forgive me if someone already posted, but I bought a leather case from Best Buy made by a well known name..Targus.
It does offer great protection and has the stand built in, a nice velvet/cashmir type fabric inside. I don't have the link but it's the only one that the Best Buy by me had so I grabbed it. It was $40.00
This ISN'T my Transformer Prime
Yeah there are a lot to choose from on Amazon.com. This is the one I went with, I'm happy overall:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0063Q3G3I/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details
Thanks!
Thank you, RonH54. That looks like a very nice case. The problem is that although the front of the keyboard is visible, the back of the keyboard and pretty much everything on the tablet itself is pretty much covered--so no one can see how nice it looks. (My dilemma....)
I'm also a little concerned about the very negative review I saw there!
joedeveloper, the Moko also looks very nice, but also has the same issues. And Pixelation, I haven't seen the Targus case, but I assume it covers the tablet as well. Am I right? And finally, Gage_Hero...!!!! What can I say? That looks like a pretty extreme solution. I don't plan to treat my tablet in a way that I would need anything like that.
almightywhacko, thank you for the link. I had already seen it, and looked at most of the cases there, but got discouraged because they all looked pretty much the same and all covered the tablet so you couldn't see it. I tried to post my question in the Accessories Forum first, but was told that I was breaking forum rules by posting a question there and that I needed to post in the Q&A forum--so here I am.
I've never seriously considered a sleeve, but clouds5, thanks for the suggestion. There are several listed in the Accessories Forum thread, so I intend to look at them. That might be the best compromise, because the tablet would be protected when it most needed it, but would be on display when I was actually using it.
The only other option that has occurred to me is a clear case. Something like the Invisible Shield wouldn't provide enough impact protection (although I would need something like that for the screen to prevent scratches)--but there might be a clear case out there that is more protective. Has anyone seen something like that?
Again, thanks to everyone for your contributions. You have given me some new ideas. (Sorry to be so slow--I've tried several times to post over the past couple of days, but kept being told that "the token had expired", whatever that means!)
I have 6 cases. I am not kidding. 6.
Like you, I have a tf101 sleeve that works for basic thin protection (given to me by a friend that didn't like it for their og). I have a neoprene case (another give-me). I have a non-tf202 specific hard-ish case made by CaseLogic that I like a lot because it will hold the tablet+dock and it is very durable. I have the MiniSuit linked to above for the tablet+dock and it sucks. Badly. They are a good company and they have done right by me, refunded my money, etc, but the design is horrible with a very basic flaw - the leather is way too thick where the dock meets tablet and that is just not going to be good over time. I have "modified" it with a pair of scissors so that it wont break my tablet+dock - it does make a nice case for carrying and using them both. I also have the MiniSuit 360 case. I really like that one because the tablet is detachable from the case.
IMO = The best one is the one joedeveloper linked to. Slim, good protection and really shows off the Prime. It is the only one that does not cover the bezel. It is very "configurable" and you can use the dock WITH it. I can be folded half way back and then half of the beautiful back is "shown".
I have the full body skinomi skin for my tablet and dock so I have that as added protection so I son't mind using my dock with that case because I know my dock wont get scratched. But i wont use that if I need to carry or travel with the dock, I'd use one of the other ones.
So...slugbug2010,
Let me make sure I understand you. You like the MoKo case "best" because it doesn't cover the bezel, but it doesn't give enough protection to travel with it? So you would recommend buying a second case for traveling with it (in addition to a full-body skin)?
I can't tell from looking at it and reading about it on Amazon if it covers the keyboard, or just the tablet itself. If it covers both, can the two pieces be separated? If it doesn't cover the keyboard, I'd need to have a separate sleeve or something to protect it.
Can you and joedeveloper elaborate a little more, please?
Thanks!
You can get some balls for your Eee pad if you are afraid of dropping it.
http://iballz.info/universal.html
Reading your post again, it looks like you want a clear TPU case like this one made for the iPad http://www.amazon.com/CrazyOnDigital-Accessories-Cover-Retail-Package/dp/B004RRU7NM
However sadly no company has yet stepped up to the task of making such a case. Theoretically a TPU case would provide decent drop protection and not alter the look of the tablet much. And since it is so thin it would work well with a sleeve for added padding when not in use.
Yes, the TPU case looks like it might be along the lines of what i want--but it appears that I'm out of luck.
texstar, the iBalls are a really interesting concept (despite the name). I'm thinking they might be the perfect thing for my granddaughter's Transformer, providing some protection and leaving the tablet easier to use than the traditional case I already have for her.
As far as using them with my Prime--they certainly would expose the tablet itself, but I'm not sure I like the "quirky" look mentioned by some of the reviewers. It's also not clear whether or not they might cover up some of the ports and controls.
If your post was a serious one, do you own them? Has anyone tried them on your tablets?
Joedeveloper and Slugbug2010, are you still there? I really like the Moko case, but it's tablet only. The Minisuit looks nice, too, but seems to be thicker than what I'm looking for. I think I need a combination of the two....
Those of you who are using the Moko and have a dock, do you have a separate case for it, use a sleeve, or just leave it unprotected?
Thanks again for all your help.

Gumdop Case Thoughts...

I pre-ordered the Gumdrop case months ago. During the wait for it, I began to really enjoy using my keyboard dock and now, I am not so sure I want the Gumdrop case. I can still return for a full refund. I was wondering if anyone out there uses this case and also has the keyboard dock. Is it a pain to switch back and forth?
I thought about keeping it for when I know I wont be using the dock much and for times where chances of dropping it would be greater.
Thanks!

I don't have the Gumdrop case, but I thought about getting it.
After my son purchased the OtterBox for his iPad, I finally dropped the idea.
I realize the Otterbox isn't the exact same as the Gumdrop, but I think they're similar.
The Otterbox, while providing excellent protection, is a PAIN to remove! It would make each use a the dock a minor decision, deciding if I wanted to bother taking the case off and then dealing with putting it back on! Again, I don't OWN the Gumdrop, and maybe it's unfair to use the Otterbox as a reference, but from what I've read, they (Otterbox and Gumdrop) share in two characteristics... they're both somewhat difficult to put on/take off, and they're both heavy.
Which is the 2nd negative, in my mind, to the Gumdrop/Otterbox... the weight!
If I worked in very dirty/risk prone areas, maybe I'd give it another thought.

After my son purchased the OtterBox for his iPad, I finally dropped the idea.

I have a carrying case that fits my Prime when docked to keyboard too. It provides good protection for transportation...when I use it, I try to not use in a way where I could drop it. So the Gumdrop really isn't needed. Plus, the Prime looks so good without a case...
