[Q] [HELP] Anyone got this before with odin? - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Well, I flashed this because i bootlooped on CM7 and nothing I tried fixed it:
http://hotfile.com/dl/145799379/87b0b05/S5830XWKS2_S5830XENKS1_S5830XWKS2.zip.html
Via odin, all went well- passed.
Then when i went to turn it on (after Cache wipe via stock recovery) the two light up buttons at the side of the home button light up and nothing else does. The screen does not turn on. When i pull the battery and wait a few moments then plug in USB, place battery back in Hold Home + Power + Vol Down- nothing happens- odin (4.38) does not recognise it. I have got cooper.ops and the new DDK8Q firmware from SamMobile.
Well im thinking: Either A) Something in my phone has blown by chance (Not Likely)
or B) The USB 1.0 Port my PC uses is faulty and interupted the process when it was working on the boot.
and C) The Firmware I downloaded was corrupted and Hard Bricked it
Now, I have already taken it to service centre before for a new motherboard (forgot I was no longer on the Defy so I flashed a Defy ROM on autopilot from the same SD)
so I'm wondering, with already haven claimed it on the warranty- will it now no longer be covered by warranty?
And, has anyone ever had this before?

Place phone on your papers. It will stop them blowing away. Seriously hope someone supplies you with good solution. I once had similar prob when using odin on laptop (vista), tried on PC (xp and 7) used on xp and managed to flash ok. Make sure drivers are ok and that you can get in download mode first though. GL

i may have a TRUE Brick =(

okay i think i may have finally bricked a Vibrant.
Heres what happened.
I recieved my warranty replacement from Tmobile, my original Vibrant had headjack issues...
I rooted the phone, installed Projet V and all was good.. i then noticed none of my photos and music was being recognized.. i thought maybe it was a bad flassh, reflashed and same issue.. i then moved some songs to my external and it played.. so i thought lets start from scratch.
So i started ODIN and my p wouldnt recognize phone in Download mode...battery pulled and now i have the phone to pc symbols.. all is good still cuz this has happened before and ODIN will recognize my phone..this time it was NOT the czse =(..
I have tried different USB ports
Uninstalled both ODIN and Samsung Drivers
tried a different PC
tried a brand new USB from Tmobile
PCs WILL not recognize phone...
Any other suggestions..... ive read tons of threads and all say to do the different ports n crap but its not my lucky day i guess... if i cant fiix it im just sending it back to Tmobile and asking for another one..
i got the 'phone ! pc screen' on mine yest, just keep trying
took me like 2 hours to get it to connect, i tried all 4 usb ports on my laptop like 10 times each then it decided to work
yah odin and pcs are finicky that way, keep trying!
power off phone
pull out battery
turn on odin
attach phone to pc with usb cable
now while holding down both volume buttons put battery back in.
now you should be in download mode and go back to stock with odin from here!
make sure u put the proper .pit and .pda file in there proper places on odin and ur set to go.
Enjoy and also make sure u have the proper samsung drivers
mine doesnt go to download by having it plugged in and pushing battery in, battery has to be in with mine then plug usb in
so try both ways
thanks to everyone.... i guess i'll keep trying. If not i'll send it back to Tmobile n get another replacement =/
also i think its the phone =( tried to use ODIN on my original Vibrant and sure nuff it can see it.. Oh well back to Tmobile...
Mods u can close this thread =)
Eureka!!!!!!!
heres the steps I took, keep in mind i went to Best Buy and bought a BB USB cable and it worked..... still sending the phone back tho, i should have another one by tomorrow =)
Pull the battery out
plug the phone into the usb
open odin
pick the tar file of whatever you're trying to flash
hold the up and down volume buttons
now put the battery back in
phone will boot into download mode
odin should pick it up, click start button in odin to flash
done

[Q] Phone Bricked Twice in One Week!

Hi Everyone, Really need help here
I (drunkenly) messed around with CWM on my phone and formatted a few partitions that I shouldn't have. Result - brick!
Had a JTAG done and it was revived and placed back onto Stock 2.3.3
Got my phone home and went to flash Litening ROM 6.1 onto it to regain root access... ODIN got about 2/3 through and failed.
Now I've got a phone that my computer's won't recognise. Windows is saying that the USB device has malfunctioned. Is there any way I can fix this without having to shell out for another JTAG repair?
When I turn on the phone I get that A....!....A looking symbol on my screen. Recovery mode does the same thing.
I can get to Download mode, but again my PC can't recognise it.
Any ideas?
try reinstalling the drivers.. That may work..

thanks, giving it a go now.
...you did mean from within Kies though right?
I'll let you know how I go.

Yes, you can uninstall kies and install it again. It worked for some users.. Make sure kies is off when flashing a new firmware..

Odin the God of rom flashing is telling you flash stock and stop playing with your phone as next time you will get Thor .
jje
Odin the god of flashing is being a pain in my ass!
All I want is for my GS2 to be rooted and working - I still don't get how it's failed
Kies is still uninstalling...
do you have a usb jig? that normally forces it into download mode.. dirt cheap from ebay......... have a search

I can get to Download mode. Or am I missing something?
As far as I'm aware, the JIG will reset my binary counter and take me to DL mode - isn't that what Vol Down + Power + Home does?
with a JIG would my phone be more likely recognised by my PC's?
Thanks for all the reply's too by the way guys!
Okay, so I removed and reinstalled Kies - No luck
Download Mode is still showing Current Binary as Samsung Official though, so at least I can have it warranty repaired if need be.
I'm just finding it really hard to believe that it's bricked again, I've flashed heaps of ROM's to this phone without any issues. I just don't see how I could have two problems so close together.
Any other ideas?
You may find an answer within this thread > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382838
I had an i9000 jtaged a while back and what i noticed was that when it came back from the shop it didnt have recovery mode at all. What I had to do was flash a couple of stock ROMs to get stock recovery back so I could Root it again. It took several atempts and fails too.Not having any type of recovery at the time of a flash might be what has caused the problem.Quite possible that if thats the case you will need another jtag
One thing you could try thats worked for me in the past is boot to download, plug in your phone and open Odin last.Sometimes its works.

Thanks, gave that a go and it didn't work. Tried it about 5-6 times
Is there a specific driver that can be used to allow Odin to see my phone? I've tried all that Kies has to offer and it's still coming up as unrecognisable - Windows is seeing a USB Mass Storage controller and a Bluetooth Peripheral Device, but it's unable to locate or install any drivers since the failed Flash.
I also tried the other linked thread. This didn't work either
I only spent $180 on a JTAG repair yesterday - Should've just bought my own RIFF box so that I could do it myself.

If you have access to a window xp computer give it a try, I had this issue with my captivate and my windows 7 machine wouldn't work but my old xp computer did.
An obvious and well known issue... Did you end process tree of both Kies processes in your PC's task manager?
Sorry if you have, it is all I can think of at the moment.
Sounds like it's time for you to give up flashing ROM's. Clearly someone up there doesn't like it. If your computer doesn't recognise it at all then its a faulty USB cable. So maybe that get that replaced before you demand Samsung fix your mistakes again.

Hi,
I'm using more than one cable. They seemed to both work fine too until the failed flash.
I didn't get Samsung to fix it, I took it to a mobile repair shop, I didn't demand anyone do anything either - I paid royally to have it fixed and would prefer to fix it myself than be charged again.
@jhernand1102 - I'll give this a shot now, fingers crossed!

HELP - Odin and kies won't detect my phone !

Here's the thing guys: a week ago i was at a bar whith some friends and one of them spilled a glass of beer on my phone.I queckly removed the beer from it,removed the battery, sim card and sd card and left it for 1 hour to dry. After that i put the battery back and turn it on.The soft just wen't crazy so i decided to go in CWM and flash the soft back and everything was working fine.During the night i left the battery and the sim out of the phone. In the morning after i used an hair-dryer to be sure that there was no liqued in it, i decided to charge my phone. All wen't well untill i unpluged it and got the a message saing : battery still charging.I pluged it back and left the phone there for 4 hours.Again the same problem.I restarted the phone and wiped battery status, still no efect. After this i decided to flash the stock firmware.I put the phone in downloade mode and connected to my laptop.First odin added the device, the removed it then added it again. After that i put the 3 files and hit flash, but the an error appeared: odin removed it again and windows 7 gaved my this message: usb not recognized.i tried every metode on the internet. No effect. Now odin and kies wont see it.
I've installed the drivers again and again.I am abble to enter downloade mode, but as i said odin wont see it.When i turn on the phone,i get this message: firmware upgrade encounted an issue.please select recovery mode in kies and try again.
I know that this is a soft brick problem, not a hard brick problem, because previosuly i had hard brick and repaired it with JTAG at a local service.
Before this problem appeared,i was using Rootbox Rom.
Please help me.I'm begging you.!
p.s: should i try to reinstall my windows ? and sorry for any grammar mistakes.
You need to clean up your device, usb por at least. 99% alcohol should do the trick.
Formatting win7 or clean samsung drivers & kies uninstall should do it too.
This is trial & error, you can always use that guy who spilled the beer's laptop

Your USB-Port is wrong. you should clean this up and also the whole phone as posted before. All this problems are caused by the USB-Port...

p.s: i have allready reinstalled my windows 7 ultimate and updated it to latest version.

Try another usb port / cable / pc.
And reinstall kies.

Ummmmmm...sneaky little device, is it charging at least?
If not, usb is completly busted.
Anyways, if it does charge doesn't actually mean your pc will see it, are you using s2's genuine cable? Does your pc sees ANY DEVICE CONNECTED at all? An a unknown device at least?

I eventualy figuared out that my usb was broken, so i send it to a friend who works at samsung service.the repair cost 30 dollars. He told me that i was lucky, because at first he tought that the motherboard was damaged, but it wasn't.Now i have my phone and i recenty installed neatrom lite v4.4 and i have some problems:
1.When i lock the phone,my lockscreen won't appear ? how can i fix that ? i tried from setting,but nothing.
2.Should i install Siyah/Dorimanx or just stay whith the stock kernel ? i don't want my phone to have overheating problems, stability problems etc.I'm not a fan of OC,i just want the phone to move faster and that it won't get stuck, freeze, laggy.
3.How can i install those addons ? i'm interested in the aosp lockscreen with shortcuts and weather info, keyboard aosp,to have the circle battery note gallery and some camera options.thats all
4.How can i add more icons in the notification center ?
5.When i hold the powerbutton, the phone shuts done. Why is that ? I don't have the 4 options that were with the stock version(airplaine mode, data enabler, silent profile and power off). How can i have these back ?
Once again guys, thank you very much for your help.

i think its only socket problem
meqns hardware problem
Try this method!
If you think it is a software problem, try this:
Source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_Duos/GT-S7562
Code:
Recovery Mode
Recovery mode can be entered by switching the device off and pressing the following buttons; VOL UP + VOL DOWN + HOME + POWER
When the phone vibrates let go of the buttons.
Note: It can take several attempts to enter recovery mode, so do not give up immediately!
After entering recovery mode, wipe the phone but beware, it will delete all the data in the internal memory. So take a backup of all your data, contacts, messages, before you do this.
After you perform wipe, reboot the phone. It will take longer than usual but after that you will be on the screen.
You can use your phone as a new phone and try charging again.
Press thanks if I have helped!

I Already Tried But With No Result
If the device is not charging properly and you know for certain that it is not an issue with the cable/charging block/etc, then most likely it is an issue with the USB port itself. Unfortunately, for that phone, the part is soldered to the motherboard and not a repair for a casual DIY tech. That said, your easiest work around will be to buy an extra battery and an external battery charger. Then you just pop in the new battery and leave the other to charge on the wall. I actually miss being able to do this (I have a Nexus) as it does not require you to be plugged into the wall, just the battery in the charger. If you need to transfer files without the port, there are numerous solutions via wifi and BT.

Yes , Its Charging And Working With USB Cable Very Well
Ok, well then if it all works fine and is just cosmetic, your choices are to factory reset and see if it is an easy fix or to reload the OS with Odin (and reset).

That's what I figured... So, pretty sure either the port is bad, or it's a hardware (motherboard) issue. If it were only that warning on the PC, then one might think driver issue, but that combined with the charging issue, makes me think otherwise - assuming the cord works and syncs properly with other phones. You said you had already restocked the OS with Odin, but that does not seem likely due to the error on the PC. Just a hard reset does not affect /system much, so if there IS an issue with the software, a factory (hard) reset wouldn't do much. If you remove all Samsung drivers and Kies programs, reboot, and reinstall Kies (for the drivers) and you still get that message, then it's most likely hardware related.

It's not unheard of that roms can cause connection issues, but very rare on stock based roms and kernels. If the computer doesn't recognize the phone then it might be tricky to root. It's possible that you could root with an app like Framaroot and then install Mobile Odin and flash the firmware from the phone, but it depends on what build version of the software you have to which root methods are supported.

I need a detail explanation of what you did to get it into that state and what you've tried. A bullet point list will suffice. I just need to know so I can work out how buggered it is and where to go from here.
I need to know which PC operating system you're using, which variant of s3 you have including its region (this can be determined by the sticker in the battery compartment unless you already know.
There is a possibility it is your os not detecting the device because of drivers but if you've tried formatting and starting over then it shouldn't have any issues. The only other option is to manually edit the drivers ".cat" file with the s3's actual physical address before installing the drivers, but this is in extreme circumstances when the os is not "playing ball".
Also remove kies or at least stop all of its running processes when using odin.
My advice at this stage is to manually remove all drivers from the pc OS regarding the s3 and wait until we figure out where the s3 is at. I have a gdrive with some useful stuff that I know works on Windows XP flawlessly. https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B4vTiHTBB629ZW5vQndpbjFnblk
One question though.. When you pull the battery out and reinsert it. Does the phone automatically boot to download mode, is it stuck there permanently or does it boot loop?.

1st of all I want to thank you bro for reply...
Now..
I am using Windows 10 64bit, using Samsung galaxy sIII GT-I9300 Indian single sim varient.
I rooted it using KingoRoot successfully but I found I wasn't able to get SuperSU and without that I was not able to use root fun properly so I tried to flash the same with flashFire.. it failed as it require SuperSU. So I tried installing TWRP recovery from playstore and it started flashing and after reboot, It stuck on the Downloading mode.. No matter how many buttons I tried pushing combined it stuck on downloading mode...
I tried almost all method on YouTube and websites but it still don't work. Worst thing .. I tried fixing the same by Kies as well as ODIN but .. I never detect my phone.. when i connect my phone after uninstalling and Or installing the samsung driver and Kies as well.. windows didn't recognise it.
I am about to give up n this and almost ready to smash the phone with wall hammer and throw it under my car tyres but I committed myself not to do that before 14th May.
The problem is most likely Windows 10 64bit. I'm quite sure the drivers don't agree with them.
You're going to have to find an older OS and try it. Either use a virtual machine or dual boot and load up a real OS like XP. Then we can begin the proper problem solving. I hate putting percentages on things but I'm 90% confident that windows 10 is an issue here, mainly for the fact it is 64bit and the drivers aren't made for that.
As for button combo's if they don't work while booting and it goes straight to download mode then there is a big problem and it could be bricked. You can try holding just the power button for about 15 seconds while in download mode and it "should" attempt to reboot. If not then as I said, big issue ahead.
No matter what you need to get it seen by odin so get yourself xp somehow and use the stuff on my gdrive. You need to get yourself a copy of the latest firmware for your phone, ready to flash via odin should you get it to see the phone.

If you can afford to have them look at it then it's up to you but you will be billed for it as the s3 is out of warranty. They haven't made the s3 for about 3 years now.
