I have used Unknownforce method to downgrade hboot to 1.4 and revolutionary to root and s-off. I have been on 1.13.651.7 stock rom till official ics. Can i update ota to ics with new hboot. Will i stay s-off(even though I know i will lose root), and if so can i then through fastboot (pc86img thing) install back to eng hboot. I want s-off but want to use stock unrooted sprint ics. THANKS
This has been answered in multiple threads. Next time please take the time to look.

No, don't ever do this. There is absolutely no need to ever set that flag and you only risk soft bricking by doing so

I was 1.4 S-OFF with VM firmware and took the OTA. You'll keep the S-OFF. You'll still be able to downgrade and use custom PG86IMG.zip files because I did it to revert back to Sprint firmware and took the OTA again and can confirm once more that the S-OFF does stay.

do i have to use a specified rom to do this procedure?
I would suggest the original gb rom that came with the phone that you unlocked with. It worked flawlessly for. Other roms/firmwares will work but I can confirm gb working perfect.

well i have the leak before the ota. which is the 3.14.605.10, hboot 2.25 all that too. i relocked and did it that way, and i'm backed to being unlocked.
I suggest you relock, run gb ruu, unlock, use gb juopunutbear controlbear and go from there. theres always less issues if you do it after an ruu

Don't know if that's possible for him since he's s-on and on an ICS leak. Can't roll back to GB.
I was on the .10 ICS leak too when I s-off'd and it worked fine with the 3.14.605.5 control bear and hboot.

Just download the version of controlbear for your firmware version and you should be just fine.

I ran the latest RUU with bootloader unlocked, s-on, rooted and I got everything except the latest radio and hboot. You have to relock the bootloader, then run RUU to get a complete upgrade.

Yes, I used ZedoMax unlock tutorial to unlock the first time. Why do you not wish to have the latest hboot?
I was hboot 1.15 when I ran the latest RUU unlocked and updated on the firmware. I decided that having the latest radio was important and you can not get one without the other right now from what I could find. So, I now have the latest radio and hboot, I unlocked the bootloader once again and reflashed my custom ROM.

Sure, here ya go.
Install SDK tools first - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaNM-lt_aHw&feature=fvwrel
Relock bootloader - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yS7yy4XVA4&list=SP53B1EB8DBE7A5B59&index=1&feature=plpp_video
Update with latest RUU - http://stockroms.net/file/HTCEvo4GLTE/RUU
Hope this helps...I love mine after the latest hboot and radio together. It now has none of those pesky issues I was fighting.
P.S. after you relock, the phone will NOT reboot. Just keep it on "bootloader usb" and then run the RUU from your computer. Then unlock again. It will be all updated and run great.
I would suggest waiting as well. Chances are your missed calls and texts aren't going to be fixed by a new radio

I think the real chances are that s-off will be achieved on hboot 1.19 first, anyway. I haven't found one credible indication of anyone working on either though...

Its being worked on. Nobody is going to announce "oh hay guize I'm working on getting S-OFF". You'll know who is is when they find S-OFF and announce it.
What makes you think 1.19 will be found first? That doesn't really make sense.
I just think it makes more sense to have the latest radio. It was updated by HTC for a reason and everyone that wants it, not being s-off already, has to do what I did. Consequently, since the update I have LTE nearly everywhere I go in NW Houston, prior to the update was spotty connectivity at best.

Most people don't have LTE coverage yet, so for most the radio isn't worth hboot 1.19

Unless of course, you're having issues running a custom rom on the latest firmware and older hboot. Then, one may wish to look at the options even if they are the "most" as you say or the least as I clearly represent in your estimation.
I was wondering if there was a ruu that i could use to upgrade to ics without messing up my hboot

Follow this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889438. This should answer all your questions.
so this guide wont change my hboot??
You can flash Common Sense. Im pretty sure it uses the leaked VM kernel. You can flash any ROM with hboot 1.4 except a 2.89 kernel
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
You can always change Hboot easily if you're S-OFF. Not a big deal at all.
Search. A member has posted multiple Hboot's for your flashing pleasure in one of the posts.

The guide will change your hboot to 1.58 since it flashes the Sprint ICS RUU, but once you are S-OFF you can flash whatever hboot you want from this post.
If you are not planning to gain S-OFF, you can only change your bootloader by flashing an RUU.

Yes, if you want 1.50 for some reason. I'd personally recommend either the engineering (ENG) bootloader if you plan to run GB and AOSP based ROM's or the JBear Sprint ICS version if you are only going to run Sense based ICS ROM's. See mpgrimm2's thread on bootloader differences for more info.

i know this is a dumb question, but in what mode do i put my phone once its plugged in for the ruu??
Fastboot USB in the bootloader is preferred.

Hboot goes with firmware.
You can't just flash a different Hboot & expect the phone to boot.
Youll need to change the firmware to the one that corresponds the hboot of your choice.

That hasn't been our experience on the CDMA model of the Evo 3D. In fact, the GB and AOSP ROM's won't boot when using the bootloader (1.58) that matches the most current CDMA firmware.
Check out this thread for extensive information on the compatibility of various bootloaders with different ROM's for the CDMA Evo 3D. And everything was tested using the most recent Sprint ICS (2.89.651.2) firmware.

What I meant to say is that a GB hboot will only work with GB firmware & ICS hboot will only work with ICS firmware.
If the above condition is not met, then the phone will not boot into the ROM. That's all I meant.
I didn't say anything about the Hboot & ROM not matching.

Not true on the Evo 3D.
With HBoot 1.5, which is a stock GB bootloader, flashed on the CDMA version we can boot GB ROM's even with the latest ICS firmware, but not with the ICS 1.58 HBoot installed.

No. They are different between the CDMA and GSM models because the CDMA version has WiMax 4G and the GSM version doesn't, but the same between GB, ICS and JB. We use the same wipe methods regardless of what version of Android is being installed.
