That's a good point. If you're still using an old sim card on a 4G phone, your data soeed will suffer. If you are using an old sim, shame on T-Mobile for not switching it.

I used a 3 year old sim card with my sensation and it didn't affect a thing. That makes it a card that was made before they even had 2g. I don't understand

My speed has improved a bit... I was getting 16 to 18mbps ... Now since the leak ICS, I'm seeing 20+ as a average..

I can confirm updating your sim will help.
When I first got my amaze I was using my old sim, and signal was suck ass.
Wanted to return it but the rep asked me if I was using the sim that came with the phone.
Inserted new sim.... then I got some updates popping up ( probably coincidence, was eight around the time of the wifi update).
I would say get an updated sim and make sure you have all the updates.
Can't hurt.
Then go for ics!!

Not surprised.
Where are these people doing speed tests? I RARELY get under 15-20 down. Is Chicago just that much faster than these other city's? I mean my best ever was 42 down at like 3am. Even my hsdpa+ tmobile incredible s would 4-6 down.

Lucky you guys, mine varies from 4 mb/s to 8. At work its a bit faster at 12 mb/s, really rare when it reaches over 15. When 4G was new in my home area, it was averaging at 18 mb/s, almost 5 times faster than now. IDK why it took a dump, can't complain but i miss the faster speeds.
I'm not real surprised at the poor showing by the nexus.
A couple of my coworkers bought the nexus and I can't believe what a chintzy POS that phone is. If it didn't have ICS, nobody would give it a second glance.

I go from 20 megs down to this depending on where I am at in the city. Very rarely do I get below 20 megs down.
This test below was taken inside the mall and was not an anomaly.

I am usually in the 45-60Mbps DL and 7-20Mbps UL. I am sure they are on a heavily congested area. And being that it is a tech company they probably have a lot of interference.
i usually get like 1 mbps....oh wait...i don't have 4g *sniffle*
My best was 24 down in suburban Baltimore. I've never seen above that.

My mom asked me the other day if they could upgrade their Network Extender I got for her house to an LTE one. I told her it wouldn't matter because LTE is so much faster than cable they would be bottle necked by Comcast. She didn't understand what I meant, so I just told her they don't have them yet, lol.
I get 20-30 down here in Charlotte.

Here's myself in Arlington right now. Oh and how bout them tornadoes!
Swyped from mah 3vo!
Here is a more realistic look at normal speeds in the Dallas area, all are in Downtown Dallas. The two fastest ones were on 4G.
I win.
Not bad
Greetings from Slovenia
Im in Dallas as well and when they say its as different as day and night, they are right.
Its great at night and sucks in the day. Cant wait for Network Vision to be launched in Dallas.
not the greatest speeds ever, but hey at least we have Unlimited speeds with Sprint unlike any other wireless carrier lol

Seems to be right on par what I get in Arlington area. It's rare that I have full signal except when driving and passing a tower. I usually don't even bother using mobile internet anymore unless I just have to.
I was on the KU campus and noticed the LTE flip on at about 12:15, right as I was gettin out of class.
This is what I got

Confirmed about 6.25 Mbps (both up & down) at 23rd & Iowa Tuesday evening. Good LTE coverage along 23rd from at least Iowa (probably further West) and drops off around Harper. :good:
Was surprised to see this as I figured they'd build out KC Metro a bit first before flipping the switch in the other recently announced cities. I'm still stuck at 3G while at work in Olathe and haven't seen any sign of LTE signal anywhere in Olathe west of I-35.
East of 35 in olathe I pull 20 down. Out in independence, 10 down. Inbetween those two places, no LTE.
Just FYI, I was in Spahr Engineering Library on campus when I got that result. Highest from the round of tests I rattled off was 15Mbps. A buddy of mine with the S3 got 26 Mbps in his apartment a mile or two off campus a couple days later. Anyone in the Lawrence area been able to pull an LTE signal since? I haven't unfortunately.
I was in Lawrence recently and 4 of the 5 towers I visited were live with LTE. A couple other towers had NV panels and radios but were not broadcasting LTE.
Please post this in one of the threads keeping track of LTE availability.

From a hardware standpoint both RANs are almost exact. Ive shown up to tmob sites and opened ATT cabinets on accident. The outdoor equipment is that similar. (same rbs, radios, filters, etc. )
I heard tmob/att had opened their networks to help with the states where they lost up to 30% of the sites from the hurricane. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Hello, I would just like to report to all Kansas City users that T-Mobile has switched their 4G network to the 1700mhz band and i am running CM10 nightly with the UCLF6 radio and my signal is great and have 4G. The problem with CM10 is that is always has jumped from 3G to H+ no matter what radio you are on but at least the connection is stable and i am getting speeds in the high 5Mbps!

I think you meant 1900mhz.
I see this in San Francisco bay area too. It works here and there but overall still the same old edge
Has anyone noticed that since they on LTE here any over time the data speeds have slowed down. I have it here in tooele. At first i got 8-10 Mbps down now i get anywhere from .5 to 5 Mbps. It's that all past of the testing before full launch.

lol your getting better speeds than my lte here in dallas, 2mb max , sometimes early in the morning i can pull 6mbps
I live just outside of DC and have noticed the same thing the last few weeks. I don't even get LTE in my house anymore just 3g and I used to get upwards of 30mbps download speeds. Its almost as if something happened to the towers in a snow storm or something and Sprint hasn't fixed it yet. As of lately I am so fed up with the crappy Sprint data speeds I wish I could go with T-Mobile and let them buy out my contract but I signed a deal with the devil with the "one up" program and still owe about $620 on this phone. Also at my work there is LTE but only outside. I work on the 2nd floor right beside a window and the LTE always cuts off but if I threw my phone out the window I'd have about 10mbps download. Sprint is such a joke.

Well speak of the devil. Seems as if my data in my house has been restored for now. I still wish I had service at work.
